I saw a man shoot a deer on Spike today which I found very upsetting and yet I eat both beef and pork so now I'm torn between feeling horrified and feeling hypocritical. What are your views on hunting for sport and can one be rightfully opposed to it even if they're not vegitarian?

I think its sick.

Ditto. I don't eat deer or anything though. Just farm animals like cows, chickens, and pigs.

I've been raised in the south, where practically everyone hunts. I don't personally have a problem with it, as long as the deer is eaten and not just thrown away, and most people I know usually do eat the meat. I guess since I've been around it for so long I dont really have that much time dealing with it, but I cannot eat deer meat. I cannot make myself. I guess its just the thought of it. My dad hunts, my uncles hunt, my cousins hunt....most guys I know hunt, so I guess I'm just used to seeing it and being around it.

I live in West Virginia and hunting and cars are pretty much the only things most men care about here. I don't really care if a someone hunts (I don't like it), but I don't want to hear about it! Guys will tell me in great detail about how they killed some poor deer and I'm like shut the f-up! Oh, and they act like it's the biggest deal in the world and that they HAVE to hunt. I don't like deer meat, but people think it's really good. Gawd, my dad wouldn't buy me toys when I was little but he'd spend $600 on useless crap to go hunting and wouldn't even kill anything. No, I guess I really don't like it, and I'm very sick of hearing about it. These men here think it's the most important thing in the world and the things women do are stupid. I would like to have a boyfriend that didn't like to hunt, so we could talk about something (ANYTHING) else!

I agree, and what makes me even sicker is when they go to these places where they have the animals right there for you to shoot.. you don't go hunting for them, they're right there just a few feet away. They start hootin' and hollerin' like it's the best thing in the world. :rolleyes:

If you HAVE TO HUNT TO LIVE thats one thing but the majority of ppl do not...... They just want a quick meal........
