Did you find cheers through your favorite actor/actress or did you find your favorite actor/actress through cheer. Personally neither for me I don't have a favorite actor or actress.

um...Cheers and then I became a Shelley and Ted fan...even though in movies they aren't my favorite actors. THey are as far as television goes

I started watching Cheers because of the character Norm. And soon became interested in George Wendt and his stuff. Now Cheers and George Wendt are just the coolest.

I got started watching Cheers because of Kirstia Alley, but I later found out Shelly Long is better.

It was Cheers first. It's actually a weird story.

I had just gotten The Parent Trap, and really liked Chessy, the maid (or whoever she was). Then one night I was watching Cheers (there was nothing else on) and saw Kirstie Alley. For awhile, I thought Kirstie was Chessy and got hooked. Then, a few months later, I started realizing that Chessy and Kirstie were really... different. I finally asked my mom what she though, since she'd never watched Cheers, and she told me it was Kirstie Alley. After awhile, I saw It Takes Two and became hooked on her.

Cheers first and foremost

cheers first. actually before cheers i HATED shelley long. absolutely HATED her. i wouldn't watch any movie with her or anything. then one day a ocuple summers ago i started to watch cheers and stayed up till 2:30 to see if sam/diane would get married so then after that i searched for toerh movie that shelley and ted were in and found andrew's asylum forum, where i met maria who i chatted with on aol and she told me about this place (i've since left the asylum, too many kirstie haters and not enough true posters)

I watched it cause it was set in a bar which was cool. I like a lot of the actors though after watching it a lot.

Yea Sam you were the one other person ,other than me, on there who did not hate Kirstie. That's why I decided to Im you lol...Cause when I said "I think it's mean to call her keiko" you were that one other person that said "Yea I think so too" it's us true Cheers fans ..lol we connect :cheers:

Personally, I am NOT a Kirstie Alley fan...I just don't find her all that funny...

according to the E True Hollywood Story about Cheers that I saw the other day, this is true, but she did it to break the ice b/c she was nervous about replacing someone else, and it worked. The cast was not too keen on the idea of working with a "newbie" I guess and this told them that this chick isn't too serious about herself and all that jazz...

I think it is really, really immature for KA to say anything negative about Shelley LOng...had Shelley never left there would be no Kirstie Alley, IMHO...She isn't all that talented, and who's to say if she would have been in movies and other shows and stuff had she not been on Cheers...she, in a sense, owes Shelley her career, at least in part...

Keiko is a killer whale that use to play the role of "Willy" in "Free Willy" they call her this because of Kirstie's weight problem...which I thought was mean.

About the whole wig thing...I don't really trust the E! true hollywood story I mean that scenario can be twisted into either a bad thing "mocking shelley" or a good thing "breaking the ice". And since the E!True Hollywood story they basically crucified shelley...I'm going to go with something in between.

I first watched "Cheers" in its original run... I remember seeing "Cheers" on TV in 1989/90, during Kristie's days. I remember watching it through 1993, when it ended.

I've gotten into it again, just because I think it's such a cood show and reminds me of when I was a kid and my parents would watch "Cheers". I know we have a few originally aired "Cheers" eps somewhere on tape...:)

I haven't seen EVERY episode like some of you guys might have done, but I don't really see any reason to hate Kristie. Hey, Shelly left...Thus, they needed a replacement and Kristie stepped in. Didn't they say the other cast members started warming up to her after she first joined? So, although I like the Shelly years just a LITTLE better than the Kristie years, I still like both of them. They're great actresses, and I DID grow up on Kristie when Cheers was still originally being aired. I was born the same year Coach died. :crazy:

Just to clarify, I'm not a Kirstie hater, I just didn't find her very funny. I've seen every episode from about the third one in season one (never the pilot...sigh) til Kirstie came on, and from then on they're scattered. My mom was a Cheers fan, and I sort-of recall the show from when I was little (it went off the air when I was about 8) and my brother has been watching since they began to air on TVLand, I watched it with him on occasion but not usually, and I didn't start to really get into it until one night I saw and episode on TVLand when they first started to show every episode. That was during the summer when from like 10PM to 5 am it was straight Cheers, in order, until the final episode. I stayed up from 10 to 5 (or whatever the times were) for days just to see them all, until the Kirstie eps began and I just didn't like them as much and I started falling asleep during them, and eventually stopped watching passed, like, Midnight. \
So I got a lotta Cheers in a little time, and now it's one of my favs!

Oh, about the true hollywood story, I thought it was kinda sketchy too, after I saw the one they did on Cher...
I have several Cher biographies on tape and I have her autobiograohy "first time" book, and some of what they illuded to just did not fit...too sensational and slanted slightly, I thought...

Again, I am NOT a kirstie hater at all! Rebecca is my third favorite charactre (Diane is first and Sam is second). I thought what she said was extremely unnecessary but w/e. I love Cheers Diane years AND rebecca years! They are all funny! lol...but I am a little bit more biased towards the Diane years cause I LOVE Diane Chambers, the character!

I know what you guys mean about Kristie not being as funny as Shelly. It's just, come on, people. IT'S A TV SHOW. And Cheers did just as well with Kristie on it as when Shelly was on it (I saw your stickied ep guide thread with the year-end ratings), so it doesn't really bug me that much. What I really like about Cheers, though, is that, the majority of the seasons took place in the 80's, and I ADORE 80's TV shows. :D

it actually works out for me:

I wake up at 4:30 watch Cheers

at 5 I change

at 5:30 I watch "Ask Rita" and eat breakfast

and at 6 I watch Mama's family

at 6:30 I leave for the bus

god i get up at 6:20 for the bus at 6:40. But you have to stay up fro Becker tonight though Maria......:D

Geez, you get on the bus at 6:30? And I thought I had it bad, starting school at 7:50 when I was in high school. :o

I liked how my schedule worked out earlier last year...SBTB comes on at 6-7AM here, so I would watch it while I was waking up and Mama's Family used to be on from 7 til 8 in the morning, so I would watch MF while I was getting ready, then I'd catch the last 10 minutes of the second half before I went to school. But then they gave it the shaft last spring. :rolleyes:
