Nothing like parents whoring out their daughters traumatizing experince for the entertainment of viewers.

yeah it is sad that she is put on tv like this...

but maybe it can help her cope and get over this traumatic experience by talking about it.
She will be on Oprah too.

I don't think she was in a hurry to do a bunch of interviews the second she got returned to her family ;) They said she was severely traumatized and brainwashed - she needed time to sort it all out.

Ok, ya know, I think it's all great she's home and safe and everything, but I mean really. Other people have been kidnapped and gotten back home too. Ya never here about them.

im guessing it's cause she's the "all american girl" rich family, blonde hair, blue eyes... what else could it be.

Sarah that is an incredibly rude and tactless thing to say. You have no idea what Elizabeth Smart went through while she was kidnapped and you say you should just run away and then be a star? You have a lot of growing up to do.

It's not true that "alot of people are abducted and returned home". Most children who are abducted are killed. It's extraordinary that Elizabeth was returned home alive.

Her family is not "whoring" her story for money. They have more money than they will ever be able to spend. I'm happy they are telling Elizabeth's story. It's inspirational.

Didn't say they were whoring it for the money. More like for the release of their book.

cuz she actually made it back alive - months and months after being taken. Name one other child that that's happened to. ONE.

I totally agree with your statement. From everything I have seen on TV and read Elizabeth Smart has very loving and supportive parents. Some of these other parents out there need to take a lesson from them. And I'm sure Elizabeth's parents discussed the book and movie deals with her first before going ahead and doing it. I don't think they would force her to do these interviews and stuff if she didn't feel comfortable with it.

Ok, I'm not trying to start anything or be a smartass, I SERIOUSLY am wondering this. How is this story SO inspirational. Now don't get me wrong...this is a great story and I am SO happy that she's home...I remember watching the news and being scared for her and all and praying for her family. But I really don't see what's so inspirational about this story. Some people reported seeing this guy, a cop asked them questions and then discovered the girl with them was Elizabeth Smart. She got to go home. But wouldn't an INSPIRATIONAL story be the story of let's say, a girl who escapes the people who were holding her captive?? I don't see how this story could INSPIRE someone.

I dunno, I'm just wondering. I guess some people could consider this inspirational, but I just see it as horrible experience with a happy ending.

i guess its inspiriational in the sense that it gives parents hope. stats say 90% of children who are kidnapped who are missing for more that a month are dead....so...yea

i dont feel soo inspired by the story either but i'm really happy for her and give her a lot of credit.

I don't think they would force her to do these interviews and stuff if she didn't feel comfortable with it. Aslo, during Katie Curic's visit, she asked if Elizabeth would read an excert she had wirtten for the book, and the family declined. Ed and Lois were aware of the questions Katie was going to ask Elizabeth before she gave her the interview. They woudln't allow anything that would make Elizabeth feel uncomfortable. The reason the family wrote the book is so that they could share the faith they had.

Also, I think her story was promoted so much is becasue her family put so much time, money, and effort in trying to find Elizabeth. They wanted America to know their daughter was out there missing, and Ed was friends with John Walsch. (or however it is spelled)
