It has been announced that, after 10 years on Sci-Fi (1992-1997, January 1999-December 2003), the reruns of the show will be dropped by them. DS is the oldest show on the schedule, having been the first show the network acquired. Sci-Fi feels that it doesn't fit in the 'direction' that they're going with their programming.

They will not be airing the March/April 1971 episodes as their contract expires at the end of December. Discussions are underway to find DS a new home.

This is the official announcement from Shadowgram (http://mrjuggins.topcities.com/gram/gram104.txt).

--- DCP also asks SG to premiere-announce:

"The Sci Fi Channel will finish airing reruns of DS at the end of the year,
with the last scheduled broadcast set for December 30.

"The network's contract is up at that time and it has been decided that,
after a decade and 4 runs (due to the fact that Sci Fi has aired 2 episodes
daily), the series will not be renewed. Sci Fi is pursuing different and newer
programming opportunities and will not be reconsidering its decision.

"They have been pleased with DS - which was the first show purchased by the
network and the only vintage program that has aired continuously on Sci Fi
(with the exception of a 1-year break). The fact is Sci Fi no longer schedules
older shows. DS has been fortunate to be a part of the network for as long as it
has.

"Discussions are underway to hopefully find a new TV home for DS reruns. SG
will keep fans updated in each postal-mail published SG issue and on this SG DS
Updates List.

"When DS ends on Sci Fi, the show will be approximately 1 month away from the
final episode and there are no plans at Sci Fi to extend the run to finish
the last episodes. Viewers who are left hanging can purchase those episodes from
MPI Home Video (www.mpihomevideo.com or 1-800-777-2223 weekdays)."

Will DS still be released on DVD all the way through?

i wondered if that was happening. with all those days of movies in the last month for no reason at all, i felt they were getting us used to not watching it.
i'm not complaining though. i have enjoyed this show since 1995. almost every day since then. but the best thing is, i won't have to record all that everyday and come home to all the repetitious commercial for all their new shows i wouldn't give a dime for. they are all so stupid.
i won't have nothing to watch this channel for now. now, i won't have to rely on the west coast to watch "days of our lives" now.

Yes, all of the episodes will be eventually released on DVD. The DVDs have been selling very well for MPI.

We have the DVDs anyway. I am hoping that TV Land would include them in their lineup, but I highly doubt it..

*****This episode is the only 'lost' episode of the series. The Sci-Fi airings consist of Lara Parker 'hosting' it, or something to that effect. The MPI video version consists of the original audio (which was found by a fan) over a still-slide assembly with Lara Parker servingas a host.

BTW, it will be pre-empted tomorrow and Friday.
