FOL -- update
We recently received the contracts for The Cosby Show and Roseanne and because of these contracts we've decided to push the release of Facts of Life back to April. But I do have more info about the FOL tapes. They are being released like Diff'rent Strokes, tapes with episodes about the same character and such. But...we do have plans for the entire series.

Thanks for posting...glad to see that episodes relating to the same character will be on the same tape. Now we just have to be patient until April.

april!!! ugh... begining or end of april?? well at least i'll have enough money by then to afford the tapes!! hadda get myself a job!! my rents won't pay a dime for them... hehe... but i could use the job anyways... i need blank tapes and i have to pay now for my interenet usage cuz im on it too much.. can i help it that i like to be on for like 5 hours at a time doing my facts of life routine stuff?? sending my penpals emails... (i have like 3 penpals) then checking this message board... then checking the scheduele on nick at nite... then talking to my FOL buddies all at the same tiem.. it's amazing how much my FOL buddies section has way OVER POPULATED the friends section... and the friends sectino is ONLY people that go to my school and i have 30 fol buddies and 18 people from school that i ACTUALLY talk to... and chances are soo great that when i come online somebody from the FOL part is on... i like that... NEways.. back to the topic... do you know if (like you said) all the episodes will be released? for the tapes are you planning to do them on a lot of episodes that Nick at Nite won't play IF you indeed do NOT release the whole set?? just a few questions

Yesss! I don't care how long I have to wait to get the entire series. How long does it take to get all of them. Will you get like one tape with 4 eps. on it each month. Because if that were so, it'd take a long time to get the whole series.

Great!! I can't wait do you know how much they will cost?

Four episodes per tape one tape per month at $19.95 per volume. The price may change...we're still negotiating final royality values. If it does change it will most likely go down to $14.95, but not up.

I dunno about you guys..but twenty dollars for four episodes? I can get them for free if I buy a blank tape for 5 bucks!!!

I know I'm biased since I work there and all, but I'd be a member if I could. The tapes are unedited, commercial free, and excellent quality. Plus, we always have collector's edition boxes that can't be found elsewhere.

4 episodes a tape, a tape a month? It'll take over 4 YEARS to get the whole series!

April 23rd is the new release date.

Columbia House Library Club
1400 North Fruitridge Ave
Terre Haute, IN 47811

We're contracted to release these tapes one per month. However, if you join, say next year, you may order every FOL tap ewe have in stock...even if we have 30 different volumes.

Whenever we begin a new series, the contracts are specific that only a certain number of tapes may be sold per customer per month. This is the main way we are able to establish public demand. If we sold volumes in bulk, we'd have no clear understanding of how many tapes we should order from the manufacturer. As soon as we know the number of buying customers and the potential growth market, we open the contracts to allow for multiple tapes to be ordered by a single customer at one time.

That's a rip-off! $4.95 for the first tape, and then 4 times the amount every time after! I can tape 12 episodes on a tape, not just 4 on a tape!

according to the DS board, Columbia House has only been using the edited episodes too. So it's not like you will be getting the full episodes from the original airing most likely. Best luck buying a blank tape and tape the episodes.

the post on the DS board was erroneous, I believe that all 4 episodes on the first tape were unedited.. no need to be alarmed until we actually see the first FOL tape released

I plan on getting the series from Columbia House too. I wish they'd be on DVD though. I don't care if it takes a few years to get all the episodes, it will give me something to look forward to each month, the only mail I ever get is junk mail and bills.

It will be really hard affording these tapes. I mean there are 209 episodes in all. 4 episodes a tape. 1 tape a month. It will take many, many years for the series to come out, and it will cost almost 1,000 dollars to get them. Rip-OFf!

So has Columbia House confirmed that they are not releasing FOL on DVD? I really wish they would, because DVD is superior, plus, VHS tape will begin to degrade after 10 or so years.

I emailed columbia house and asked them about if them releasing the facts of life on video in april was true or if it was a rumor and if they planned on releaseing the entire series.. and YES it is true that they are releasing facts of life on video in april but it is NOT true that they will be releasing the ENTIRE series.. the most that they PLAN to release at this point is 40 episodes... (10 tapes with 4 episodes per tape) so... dont be disappointed if they don't release the entire series.. and hey, if there are people out there willing to pay like 50 dollars for ONE FACTS OF LIFE PICTURE on ebay.. i'm sure there are people out there willing to pay 20 dollars PER TAPE (per month) so just cuz you think it's a rip off doesn't giv eyou the right to dis columbia house and their ways.. and i HEARD that Columbia House might lower the price to only 15 dollars per tape instead of 20.. SO DON'T DIS THEM or they might NOT release facts of life AT ALL! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

I wish they would put them on DVD...
- more episodes fit on them
- maybe they'll have bonus footage (hint, hint) or behind the scenes stuff or just extras would be nice
- I just like my DVD player more than my VCR (see, the dvd knows how to cooperate, while the VCR just sits there...)
