View Full Version : Remember you asked......
Danisel331 10-22-2003, 11:14 PM OK everyone!
Well, it's time to get those thinking caps out and dust them off again. If you remember, in June we had a CD to commemorate the birthday of Freddie and now, due to popular demand, we are going to try for another! :woohoo:
As a refresher for the family members and for our newbies that have joined us since, this is how this works. You think of a song that reminds you of Freddie. It can be a message you want to send him, a song to describe how you feel about him, or just a song that reminds you of him. Your choice! Everyone gets to choose one song and then we have our tribute CD!
If you want, you can post the title and artists along with the lyrics, but please tells why you chose the song. Thanks for reading and best of luck finding the perfect song!;)
I want Good lookin man sung by Leann rimes!
If that song doesn't fit which one will? LOL
victorianscribe 10-23-2003, 12:01 AM Okay, I'm going to be morbid, I guess; starting back in '78, the song "Even Now" by Barry Manilow always reminded me of Freddie.
Danisel331 10-23-2003, 03:59 AM Here are the lyrics to your song victorianscribe.
Even Now
When there's someone else who cares
When there's someone home who's
Waiting just for me
Even Now
I think about you as I'm climbin' up the stairs
And I wonder what to do so she won't see and
Even Now
When I know it wasn't right
And I found the better life than what we had
Even Now
I wake up cryin' in the middle of the night
And I can't belive it could still hurt so bad
Even Now
That I have come so far
I wonder where you are
I wonder why its still so hard without you
Even Now
When I come shinin' through
I swear I think of you
And how I wish you knew
Even Now
Even Now
When I never hear your name
And the world has changed so much
Since you've been gone
Even Now
I still remember
And the feeling's still the same
And this pain inside of me goes on and on
Even Now
Even Now
When I have come so far
I wonder where you are
I wonder why its still so hard without you
Even Now
When I come shinin' through
I swear I think of you
And God I wish ya knew
Somehow
Even Now
Danisel331 10-23-2003, 04:06 AM Here are your lyrics Ms Angie.
I've been catchin' a glance, do you like what you see?
Even across the room, your eyes been talkin' to me.
Easy to tell you've turned some heads
In your day
Hopin' you'll choose the next slow dance
To walk my way
Nothin' like a good lookin'.
Good lookin' man.
More 'bout you than meets the eye.
I wanna know first hand.
Baby I've got this strong feelin'.
Strong as a woman can.
I'm lookin' into the face of love,
And it's a good lookin' man.
How did you get sweet fit
Right in each of those arms?
Talkin' as if we're all alone,
Workin' your charm.
I'm likin' that edgy temper,
You try not to show.
Notice the shyness in the way,
You smile real slow.
Nothin' like a good lookin'.
Good lookin' man.
More 'bout you than meets the eye.
I wanna know first hand.
Baby I've got this strong feelin'.
Strong as a woman can.
I'm lookin' into the face of love,
And it's a good lookin' man.
Come a little closer ...
Closer yet ...
The longer and longer I'm with you,
The better and better you get!!!
Oooooooh, Closer yet ....
Closer yet.
Cheryl Harrell 10-23-2003, 05:13 AM My vote is Everybody Plays the Fool by The Main Ingredient. I'm sure since Freddied liked the Main Ingredient that he remembered this song & liked it. To me it fit him. I found the lyrics online. Here 'tis:
Everybody Plays the Fool by: Main Ingredient, The
Lyrics by: Jim Bailey/Rudy Clark/Ken Williams
Peak: 3
Year: 1972
(Spoken)
Okay, so your heart`s broken
You sit around hoping
Crying and crying
You say you`re even
Thinking about dying
Well, before you do
Anything rash, dig this
Everybody plays the fool sometime
There`s no exception to the rule
Listen, baby, it may be
Factual, may be cruel
I ain`t lying, everybody
Plays the fool
Falling in love is such
An easy thing to do
And there`s no guarantee
That the one you love
Is gonna love you
Ooh, loving eyes, they cannot see
A certain person could never be
Love runs deeper than any ocean
It clouds your mind with emotion
Everybody plays the fool sometime
There`s no exception to the rule
Listen, baby, it may be
Factual, may be cruel
I wanna tell you
Everybody plays the fool
How can you help it
When the music starts to play
And your ability to
Reason is swept away
Oh, oh, oh, heaven on
Earth is all you see
You`re out of touch with reality
And now you cry but
When you`re through
Next time around
Someone cries for you
Everybody plays the fool sometime
They use your heart just like a tool
Listen baby, they never
Tell you so in school
I wanna say it again
Everybody plays the fool
Listen to me, baby
Everybody plays the fool sometime
(No exception to the rule)
No exception to the rule
It may be factual
May be cruel sometimes
Everybody plays the fool
Listen, listen, baby
Everybody plays the fool
Also Freddie's Dead by the late Curtis Mayfield Mayfield reminds me of him. I know it was about a drug abuser/dealer etc & Freddie wasn't that but it has a line in the beginning of it about how his woman was his trouble & that so fit our Freddie plus our Freddie died...
Pitooey 10-23-2003, 08:57 AM YAY.......... I love this..... I'll go put on my thinking cap now.
MariposaLKB 10-23-2003, 09:44 AM This is a song by the group Survivor (probably best known for the song "Eye of the Tiger" from one of the Rocky movies).
I See You In Everyone
Every night, a fleeting glimpse of candlelight
Chases 'cross the atmosphere -- but you're not here
and I see the shape of moonlight on the cityscape
But now the skyline wears a shroud
I hear your voice in every crowd
Listening for your footsteps in every hallway
Watching for your headlights around the bend
I can see you standing in every doorway
Out in the street, in every glance
I see your reflection, I fall in a trance
Can't you see what I've become
It's making me crazy, I see you in everyone
Day by day, I watch the moments slip away
And traces of reality come back to me
Then I see your face, somewhere in a distant place
The fantasy has gone too far --
I close my eyes and there you are
I can see you standing in every doorway
I can feel your heartbeat -- I hear your voice
And hiding in my shadow you're with me always
Out in the street, in every glance
I see your reflection, I fall in a trance
You can't know what you have done
I see you in everyone, in everyone
In the night I see your eyes
From every direction a different disguise
Can't you see what I've become
It's making me crazy, I see you in everyone
Pitooey 10-23-2003, 10:24 AM Okay.. I came up with my song for Freddie.
The reason I chose this song is because I loved him so much in my youth. As the years go by I still miss him. He would've been my age now if he were still with us. When I hear this song I picture Freddie..... He would be getting older too. He's looking into my face as this song is being played.
Here it is..........
Landslide from the Dixie Chicks
I took my love and I took it down...
I climbed a mountain and I turned around...
And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills...
Well the landslide bought me down...
Oh mirror in the sky
What is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail thru the changing ocean tides
Can I handle the seasons of my life
Well I've been afraid of changing cause I built my life around you...
But time makes you bolder
Children get older
I'm getting older too...
Well... Well I've been afraid of changing cause I built my life around you...
But time makes you bolder
Childen get older
I'm getting older too
Well I'm getting older too
So take this love and take it down...
Yeah and if you climb a mountain and ya turn around
And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well the landslide bought me down
And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well maybe.....
Well maybe.................
Well maybe the landslide will bring you down.
The END - Dedicated to Freddie and his fans...
From Jenny Lee...................
I know i am going to love this cd I love all the songs!!!!
victorianscribe 10-23-2003, 11:59 AM I'm sitting here getting tears in my eyes, but I'm also happy, because I've finally found a group of friends who feel the same way about Freddie as I do.
Prince 10-24-2003, 01:57 PM JennyLee,
Not sure if you realize this or not..but there are two versions of the song "Landslide." The original is by Stevie Nicks and then there is the version by the Dixie Chicks. Do you have a preference?? I have both versions.

Luckymama58 10-24-2003, 09:26 PM I would like to see "Superman" by Five for Fighting on the next CD. I can see Freddie in this song, because I think everyone thought he could handle everything, and this song speaks about the fact that even a superman is vunerable.
"Superman" by Five for Fighting
I can't stand to fly
I'm not that naive
I'm just out to find
The better part of me
I'm more than a bird, I'm more than a plane
More than some pretty face beside a train and
It's not easy to be me
Wish that I could cry
Fall upon my knees
Find a way to lie
About a home I'll never see
It may sound absurd, but don't be naive
Even Heroes have the right to bleed
I may be disturbed, but won't you conceed
Even Heroes have the right to dream but
It's not easy to be me
Up, up and away, away from me
It's all right, You can all sleep sound tonight
I'm not crazy or anything.
I can't stand to fly
I'm not that naive
Men weren't meant to ride
With clouds between their knees
I'm only a man in a silly red sheet
Digging for kryptonite on this one way street
Only a man in a funny red sheet
Looking for special things inside of me
It's not easy to be me.
Prince 10-24-2003, 09:30 PM Great choice Luckymama. I almost picked that song for the last CD...I think it suits Freddie to a tea.
Luckymama58 10-24-2003, 09:34 PM I know I might be a piggy pig: about this, but there is another song I would like to see on the next one as well. It is "I Am, I Said" by Neil Diamond. OMG I think of Freddie every time I hear it, because it speaks of being a New York boy in LA and being lonely.
I am... I said
Neil Diamond
LA's fine the sun shines most of the time
And the feeling is laid back
Palm trees grow and rents are low
But'cha know
I keep thinking about makin my way back
We'll I'm New York City born and raised
But now a days I'm lost between two shores
LA's fine but it ain't home
New York's home but it ain't mine no more
I am I said
To no one there
And no one heard at all not even the chair
I am I cried
I am said I
And I am lost and I can't even say why
Leaving me lonely still
Did you ever read about a frog
Who dreamed of being a king?
And then became one
Well except for the names and a few other changes
If you talk about me
The story's the same one
But I've got an emptyness deep inside
And I tried but it won't let me go
And I'm not a man who likes to swear
But I never cared for the sound of being alone
I am I said
To no one there
And no one heard at all not even the chair
I am I cried
I am said I
And I am lost and I can't even say why
Leaving me lonely still
sfditusa 10-25-2003, 12:11 AM Hey all,
I always thought of Freddie as my hero. So, I would like to pick Hero by Mariah Carey.
This really is a great idea. Definitely worth repeating!
Sandra
Danisel331 10-25-2003, 03:43 AM Here are your lyrics Ms Sandra.
There's a hero
If you look inside your heart
You don't have to be afraid
Of what you are
There's an answer
If you reach into your soul
And the sorrow that you know
Will melt away
And then a hero comes along
With the strength to carry on
And you cast your fears aside
And you know you can survive
So when you feel like hope is gone
Look inside you and be strong
And you'll finally see the truth
That a hero lies in you
It's a long road
When you face the world alone
No one reaches out a hand
For you to hold
You can find love
If you search within yourself
And the emptiness you felt
Will disappear
And then a hero comes along
With the strength to carry on
And you cast your fears aside
And you know you can survive
So when you feel like hope is gone
Look inside you and be strong
And you'll finally see the truth
That a hero lies in you
Lord knows
Dreams are hard to follow
But don't let anyone
Tear them away
Hold on
There will be tomorrow
In time
You'll find the way
And then a hero comes along
With the strength to carry on
And you cast your fears aside
And you know you can survive
So when you feel like hope is gone
Look inside you and be strong
And you'll finally see the truth
That a hero lies in you
another good one would be I need a hero by Bonnie Tyler from the footloose soundtrack...it was also the themesong for the show cover up with Jon Erik Hexum
MariposaLKB 10-25-2003, 11:11 AM Another Bonnie Tyler song that reminds me of Freddie is "Total Eclipse of the Heart". Not just because of the words but because in certain places the guy singing "Turn around, bright eyes" sounds like him!
sfditusa 10-25-2003, 09:05 PM Thanks Dani, I really liked reading the words while thinking of how Freddie has affected me throughout my life. That song jives with that, as well as is insightful. for me, as to how to deal with Freddie's passing as well.
Sandra
Pitooey 10-26-2003, 02:45 AM Macca - Is there anyway I can change my song?
For Freddie I would rather have this song it's called.....
"Painted desert" by Pat Benatar
:notworthy
Danisel331 10-26-2003, 05:27 AM Shame, Shame Ms Jenny! :nonono:
I'll have a look but in the meantime, here are your lyrics;)
hear your heartbeat but you're never there
Like a mirage, you haunt me everywhere
All day long
I burn for you, lonely in the night
I tried to live alone, but I just can't get it right
Ya' know that, this town's like a Painted Desert
Dead heat, movin' in the city
I'm lost in a Painted Desert
In a Painted Desert without you
I've done some thinkin', now that you're not here
I know your reasons, and they're still not clear
All I'm sure of is what I got to lose
I tried to be a better loser, but it's just no use
Ya' know that this town's like a Painted Desert
Dead heat, movin' in the city
I'm lost in a Painted Desert
In a Painted Desert without you
Walkin' in the sundown, I search in vain
Waitin' on the wind that whispers out your name
Through concrete canyons echoing a world of other faces
No direction looks like home
Where is my oasis?
Ya' know that this town's like a Painted Desert
Dead heat, movin' in the city
I'm lost in a Painted Desert
In a Painted Desert without you
In a Painted Desert without you
Where is my oasis?
Danisel331 10-26-2003, 06:08 AM Ok gang! I had another suggestion for one of my greatest friends and she chose this song because she said Freddie was such an inspiration to his friends, family, and fans. She's a new fan and I really think you will like her choice.:D
Gabrielle - Sunshine
Thanks to ukmc.co.uk/lyrics for these lyrics
Made a wish, I can dream
I can be what I want to be
Not afraid to live my life
And fulfil my fantasies
I learnt a lot of tricks to help me live my life
You helped me find my paradise
When you came I saw
Sunshine through my window
That's what you are
My shining star
Sunshine
Making me feel like
I'm on top of the world
Telling me I'll go far
Reaching out, for the highs
You inspired me to try
I felt the magic inside
And I felt that I could fly
I'm looking at the world in an optimistic light
You made me appreciate my life
'Cos when you came you were my
Sunshine through my window
That's what you are
My shining star
Sunshine
Making me feel like
I'm on top of the world
Telling me I'll go far
You are the calm
I am the storm
You are the breeze that carries me on
When I said a truth
You wink at me
You're there for me
Sunshine (oh yeah)
That's what you are
My shining star
Sunshine
Making me feel I'm on top of the world
Telling me that I'll go far
Sunshine through my window
That's what you are
My shining star
(Sunshine) Making me feel I'm on top of the world
Telling me that I'll go far
Sunshine through my window
That's what you are
My shining star
Sunshine
Making me feel I'm on top of the world
Telling me that I'll go far
Sunshine
My star, my star..
That's a beautiful song Dani!
I love Jemmy's other choice too why not both?
I think the chico and the man theme should be on there too
and if anyone finds a song about friends that could relate to Jack and Freddie and or Ed and Chico is a must too
Just some thoughts
Pitooey 10-26-2003, 11:20 AM Thanks Dani for those lyrics... Plus Gabrielle's song is one I had never heard so that is a real treat for me.
I was wondering........ This thought came to me yesterday when I went out doing some errands.
Remember that song that someone sang after Freddie died? Freddie's song? It was sung by a woman who hurt after Freddie died. That would be so perfect to put on the CD. I have not heard that song since the 70's....
Cheryl Harrell 10-26-2003, 11:59 AM The song was called Freddie & was by Charlene the singer who did a song in the 70's called "I've Never Been To Me". I've never heard it but would love to. I tried to find it but and can't seem to find it ...
Luckymama58 10-26-2003, 03:41 PM I have a copy that a friend sent me a year or so ago but it is on cassette tape.... I am not sure how to transform it to a computer file. :(. I also have the sheet music to that song. It is a beautiful song. If anyone has any ideas on how to transfer it from cassette tape to a CD let me know. I don't have the equipment. I can make a copy for anyone who might have the equipment. I don't have the tape duplicator at home, but have access to one at school. Sorry ladies, I don't know if I have the time to make copies for everyone tho, but I could make one.
here are the words BTW:
Freddie By Ron Miller and Ken Hirsh
Sung By Charlene
Freddie, are you free from the pain,
Is the world the same since you have gone away?
Hey, Freddie, I'd go back if I could,
Life was sure looking good with you here yesterday.
We're afraid of things that we don't understand.
Why did you close the show it just began.
Did you feel that maybe you weren't loved enough?
Or were you afraid of being loved too much?
Freddie, there were clouds in your mind;
But we all need some time to learn what we're about.
Hey, Freddie, dreams don't come ready made,
If you only had stayed we'd have worked it out.
I believe in all the things that love can do.
And you believed in love but not in you.
No I never had a chance to say goodbye.
Please forgive me but there's something in my eye.
Freddie, lo sentimos, senor,
Que no vives aqui; amamos a ti.
Pitooey 10-26-2003, 03:59 PM Now that would be perfect for the CD........
Lucky did you play the guitar in Sweet Nightmare? It sounded so good...... I love guitars........
Luckymama58 10-26-2003, 04:06 PM Yes that is little ole me  Mariposa wrote the words in a poem and I put it to music. That is my gravely voice singing it too. LOL  We have talked about tweaking it sometime. She wants to add another line to the chorus.
MariposaLKB 10-26-2003, 04:28 PM IMHO the lyrics still needed major tweakage, but when this project came up I didn't want to mess with that by making you all wait until I got inspired again LOL!
Pitooey 10-26-2003, 09:13 PM Well let me tell you I enjoyed the song....... ;) ;)
Prince 10-27-2003, 01:11 AM Hello everyone,
I just had to say that I appreciate that everyone is so interested in another CD. Of course none of this would be possible without the help of Miss Dani...so everyone stand up and give her a big hand....you are appreciated "again." I am getting the Freddie song by Charlene. I won the 45 rpm on Ebay..so hopefully I can get it transfered to my computer. I know it can be done, because my brother used to do it all the time. I have his CD player and I think I just need to patch it into my computer..so will try it once the record arrives. My husband will help me figure it out..so keep your fingers crossed...we'll give it a shot.
Also wanted to thank everyone for keeping the songs so upbeat. Dani and I really want this to be a celebration of his life, not dwelling on the sadness at the end. Just thinking of that makes me want to cry..and I don't want that feeling when I'm listening to this CD. Instead I want to smile and think of all the joy Mr. Prinze has brought to my life. I'm sure you all feel the same why, as revealed by your choices of songs. Thanks again for participating...I hope you all like it once we are finished.
Cheryl Harrell 10-27-2003, 02:50 AM Thanks for sharing the words to the Freddie song. I would love to hear it. Reading them made tears flow... I bet it is a pretty song...
Danisel331 10-27-2003, 05:43 AM Thanks Ms Macca, but we're really a team in this effort.
The first Cd really went beyond any expectations that we could have had. As Ms Macca said, these CDs are supposed to celebrate the life and laughter of Freddie. His passion was to spread happiness among his fans and with these songs, he still can. So thank you to all of you for taking the time to find the right songs for this!:D
Danisel331 10-28-2003, 04:51 AM WE had another request for a song for Freddie. This one comes from Ms Brenda. I think some of you know her from the MSN groups.:D
Can't Smile Without You
by Barry Manilow
CHORUS
You know I can't smile without you
I can't smile without you
I can't laugh and I can't sing
I'm finding it hard to do anything
you see I feel sad when you're sad
I feel glad when you're glad
if you only knew what I'm going through
I just can't smile without you
you came along just like a song
and brighten my day
who would of believed that you where part of a dream
now it all seems light years away
and now you know I can't smile without you
I can't smile without you
I can't laugh and I can't sing
I'm finding it hard to do anything
you see I feel sad when your sad
I feel glad when you're glad
if you only knew what I'm going through
I just can't smile
now some people say happiness takes so very long to find
well, I'm finding it hard leaving your love behind me
and you see I can't smile without you
I can't smile without you
I can't laugh and I can't sing
I'm finding it hard to do anything
you see I feel glad when you're glad
I feel sad when you're sad
if you only knew what I'm going through
I just can't smile without you
Pitooey 10-28-2003, 09:39 AM Nice choices on the CD...... Thanks Dani dear....... :)
Danisel331 10-30-2003, 12:06 AM Yet another song to add. This one comes from CatCopy and she chose it because it describes how she feels.
Amazed
LoneStar
Everytime our eyes meet, This feelin' inside me,
Is almost more than I can take, Baby when you touch me,
I can feel how much you love me, And it just blows me away,
I've never been this close to anyone or anything, I can hear your thoughts,
I can see your dreams,
I don't know how you do what you do, I'm so in love with you,
It just keeps gettin' better, I want to spend the rest of my life,
With you by my side, forever and ever, Every little thing that you do,
Baby I'm amazed by you.
The smell of your skin, The taste of your kiss,
The way you whisper in the dark, Your hair all around me,
Baby you surround me, You touch every place in my heart,
You know it feels like the first time, Everytime,
I want to spend the whole night in your eyes,
I don't know how you do what you do I'm so in love with you,
It just keeps gettin' better, I want to spend the rest of my life,
With you by my side, forever and ever, Every little thing that you do,
Baby I'm amazed by you.

Luckymama58 10-30-2003, 07:37 AM I have always love that song by Lonestar. Thanks catcopy for suggesting it. (BTW it is Lori, not Lore! :D)
MariposaLKB 10-30-2003, 08:05 AM "Amazed" always gives me chills! All the songs so far are great choices--I do hope the Charlene song "Freddie" will be possible too!
BTW--No problen re my name. Since the full name I will admit to on here is Lorelei, I can see how someone would shorten it to Lore. Doesn't bother me what you call me, as long as you don't call me anything nasty hee hee! :D
catcopy18 10-30-2003, 04:50 PM Thank you Dani for printing all the words to my song "AMAZED".
I get lost in those words whenever I hear it. I wish I could say I had the privilege of knowing first-hand how that would be with Freddie but unfortunately it's only in my dreams and wildest imagination! ;) Freddie will always "AMAZE" me!
Linda (catcopy)
Danisel331 10-30-2003, 11:31 PM Humblest apologies, but it has been fixed now.
Just keep the songs coming ladies!;)
Danisel331 10-31-2003, 12:28 AM Another request coming from Ms Suzanne this time.
Always
By Stevie Wonder
As around the sun the earth knows she's revolving
And the rosebuds know to bloom in early may
Just as hate knows love's the cure
You can rest your mind assure
That I'll be loving you always
As now can't reveal the mystery of tomorrow
But in passing will grow older every day
Just as all that's born is new
You know what I say is true
That I'll be loving you always
(Until the rainbow burns the stars out in the sky)
Always
(Until the ocean covers every mountain high)
Always
(Until the dolphin flies and parrots live at sea)
Always
(Until we dream of life and life becomes a dream)
Did you know that true love asks for nothing
No no her acceptance is the way we pay
Did you know that life has given love a guarantee
To last through forever and another day
Just as time knew to move on since the beginning
And the seasons know exactly when to change
Just as kindness knows no shame
Know through all your joy and pain
That I'll be loving you always
As today I know I'm living
But tomorrow could make me the past
But that I mustn't fear
For I'll know deep in my mind
The love of me I've left behind
'Cause I'll be loving you always
(Until the day is night and night becomes the day)
Always
(Until the trees and seas just up and fly away)
Always
(Until the day that eight times eight times eight is four)
Always
(Until the day that is the day that are no more)
Did you know you're loved by somebody
(Until the day the earth starts turnin' right to left)
Always
(Until the earth just for the sun denies itself)
I'll be lovin you forever
(Until dear mother nature says her work is through)
Always
(Until the day that you are me and I am you)
Always
(Until the rainbow burns the stars out in the sky
Until the ocean severs every mountain high)
Always mm mm
We all know sometimes life hates and troubles
Can make you wish you were born in another time and space
But you can bet your lifetimes that and twice it's double
That God knew exactly where he wanted you to be placed
So make sure when you say you're in it, but not of it
You're not helpin' to make this earth
A place sometimes called hell
Change your words into truths
And then change that truth into love
And maybe our children's grandchildren
And their great grandchildren will tell
I'll be loving you until the rainbow burns the stars out in the sky
victorianscribe 10-31-2003, 06:41 AM That's beautiful! I don't remember ever hearing that song, for some reason.
MariposaLKB 10-31-2003, 07:55 AM I don't recognize that song either (and I looooove Stevie Wonder!), but it is lovely and very appropriate! I bet Freddie loved Stevie Wonder's music.
Gracias, Ms. Dani, re my name!
hue_mee 10-31-2003, 07:18 PM Thanks Marisposa and Victorianscribe. Whenever I hear that song on the classic R & B Music channel at work I always get chills as it constantly reminds me of Freddie.
Cheryl Harrell 11-01-2003, 04:38 AM That's a good Stevie Wonder song. Freddie liked Stevie Wonder. In fact he played a new Stevie Wonder record the nite he died from what I read...
hue_mee 11-01-2003, 02:51 PM Here I am listening to the first creative CD that was put together. As I read the songs for the future seqel. I can't help but shiver from the words that describe Freddie. His feelings, and what we feel about him in the words and music!. This is an incredible project! Thank you!
Karen64 11-01-2003, 03:46 PM I'm a little late on this post ('cause of my computor-hog hubby, I hardly ever get any computor-time! LOL!) But as I was reading these posts, I was thinking how all these songs are perfect for Freddie! It made me think of an old song from 1977 by Peter Frampton that always made me think of Freddie and made me sad cause it reminded me of the love that he didn't have back then...
Since I'm a late comer with this one, if it doesn't end up on the 2nd sequel, that's OK...just wanted to share one of the songs that always made me think of him. :)
I don't care where I go
When I'm with you
When I cry, you don't laugh
Cause you know me
I'm in you, you're in me
I'm in you, you're in me
Cause you gave me the love
The love that I never had
Yes you gave me the love
The love that I never had
You and I, don't pretend
We make love
I can't feel any word
That I'm singing
I'm in you, you're in me
I'm in you, you're in me
Cause you gave me the love
The love that I never had
You gave me the love
Love that I never had
Come so far, when we think
Of last fall
You can't find what we made
You and I
Ohhh
I'm in you, you're in me
I'm in you, you're in me
Cause you gave me the love,
love that I never had
Yes, you gave me the love
Love that I never had
You gave me the love
Love that I never had
I don't care where I go
When I'm with...
hue_mee 11-01-2003, 03:50 PM OMG Karen! I remember when that song came out! As a Peter Frampton fan. I loved that song as well as his Frampton Comes Alive album! That is a great choice!
Prince 11-01-2003, 08:25 PM Don't worry Karen, you're not too late at all. Dani and I just wanted to get started early. Keep em coming. Great choices everyone. Thanks for taking the time to participate in this project of love.
Danisel331 11-02-2003, 04:42 AM You're not late. :) We started this early so we could give everyone time to think of the right song and contribute. We just hope that all of you will enjoy this Christmas gift from us to you!
:bighug:
Gracias Amiga's Gracias to you all!
victorianscribe 11-02-2003, 03:42 PM Gracias! And Macca, in case you didn't get my PM right after I received it -- I love the first CD, absolutely love it. It gave me the chance to hear Freddie sing again (except for To Be With You) for the first time since 1976. I love that CD!
Prince 11-02-2003, 07:09 PM Hi, Victorian,
I did get your email and just keep forgetting to reply because it's not in my regular email inbox...ya know..out of sight, out of mind sort of thing. I am so glad that you enjoyed it. Dani and I really had fun putting it all together. I hope whenever you slip it into your CD player, that it brings back wonderful memories of Freddie and how much he brought to all of our lives. Enjoy!!!
kathy59 11-03-2003, 02:51 AM Hi--I'm trying to catch up on the board. I hadn't seen this thread until tonight! The one song that always reminds me of Freddie is "Tears in Heaven" by Eric Clapton. I know it can make you a little sad, but it's a beautiful song and it makes me think of Freddie and a few other people when I hear it. Take care! And I love everybody's choices for the CD! Kathy F.
Cheryl Harrell 11-03-2003, 03:49 PM An idea ocurred to me that the TO BE WITH YOU song by Tony Orlando & Dawn that Freddie was on would be great for this cd too. Wish Freddie had done a Christmas album. That would've been great! :)
Oh yes i agree with you cheryl i love christmas music that would have been awesome!!!
Danisel331 11-05-2003, 12:06 AM Hang on to your seats!
Well after some trying times with Msn, I finally have an announcement for all of you. We asked Mando to please contribute a song to our project and he gladly gave a song. He said that he chose this song because it spoke of the friendship he feels for Freddie and because he wrote his song to him to a tune silimilar to this one. So enjoy and thanks again, Mando!
You've Got A Friend
by Carol King
When you're down in troubles
And you need some love and care
And nothing, nothing is going right
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon i will be there
To brighten up even your darkest night
You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you got to do is call
And I'll be there
Yes I will
You've got a friend
If the sky above you
Grows dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind begins to blow
Keep your head together
And call my name out loud
Soon you'll hear me knocking at your door
You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there
Ain't it good to know that you've got a friend
When people can be so cold
They'll hurt you and desert you
And take your soul if you let them
Oh, but don't you let them
You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there
You've got a friend
victorianscribe 11-05-2003, 06:38 AM This just brings tears to my eyes. How beautiful.
hue_mee 11-05-2003, 07:21 AM That song is so fitting! Hearing that song, thinking that Mando choose it for this project is a wonderful and treasured pic from Mando. I'm so glad he could be a part of this project remembering Freddie!
Danisel331 11-08-2003, 05:56 AM Hi ladies!
Thanks for the overwhelming response! We have now reached our limit. Also need to say that we may have to shave a few songs from those of you who offered more than one song. If you did offer more than one song, please help us by choosing the song you want most. Thanks again ladies for making this such an huge success for the second time!
I definately want Good lookin man for my song this time, as that is Freddie!
How about a third CD for valentines day?!
MariposaLKB 11-08-2003, 12:28 PM It would be "Total Eclipse of the Heart", cuz only the very long version has the verse that reminds me most of Freddie, and it might be hard to find, plus would take up too much time on the CD.
Here are the lyrics that are only found in the long version:
every now and then I know you'll never be the boy
you always you wanted to be
every now and then I know you'll always be the only boy
who wanted me the way that I am
every now and then I know there's no one in the universe
as magical and wonderous as you
every now and then I know there's nothing any better
and there's nothing I just wouldn't do
This song only reminds me of him in a small way otherwise--the male voice in the background. But I think you will agree that the verse above speaks of Freddie...
On the whole, though, "I See You in Everyone" by Survivor is definitely more appropriate! If you can't find it, I have the CD and burned a copy for Lucky--she would be better able to send you a sound file, I have no clue how LOL!
Luckymama58 11-08-2003, 12:34 PM Thanks for the vote of confidence, Mariposa, but I am not sure if I know how! LOL Cause my baby boy soldier is home on leave this weekend, so if there is a way, he would know. Dani or Macca, if you need the Survivor song, let me know like... NOW! LOL
OF my two, "Superman" and "I am; I said", I don't care which one you all think would be ok. I like them both equally. I am with Joy, these albums would probably run into many and a third one would be great..... but I know it is a lot of work and expense for you all.... I would be willing to pay for my copy of #2. You all shouldn't have to bear all the expense.
Thanks again for such a wonderful idea!
I'd be glad to help pay for as many as you ladies care to make...imagine vol 56 LOL:happyface
hue_mee 11-08-2003, 04:39 PM Yes! I'd love to contribute to this wonderful personal memorial we are having for our handsome Freddie.
suz that would be a cool cover pic for the CD
Cheryl Harrell 11-08-2003, 06:05 PM Amen sister! That is one neat pic & would make a great cd cover... :)
Karen64 11-08-2003, 08:31 PM I would like to send a donation to help with the CDs! E-mail me or private message me! :)
Fantastic choices of songs, everyone!!!
kathy59 11-08-2003, 11:20 PM I will definitely contribute to the making of the next CD! The first one is awesome! I will send you a contribution to help pay for the CD's, O.K.? I just need a snail-mail address! Thanks! Kathy F.
hue_mee 11-09-2003, 10:48 AM I came accross the lyrics to Isaac's ( Mando's) version of his choice for the Trbute Cd. If anyone is interested they are listed in the " Timeless gift of laughter" page in Ed Brown's Garage.
Isaac has sent me two tributes there. His own lyrics to Carol King's "You've got a friend" are the second tribute following his recent one for Freddie. Ed Brown's Garage (http://edbrownsgarage.tripod.com)
sfditusa 11-11-2003, 12:27 AM I will definitely help pay for the CD project as well. If you accept paypal, I think you wouldn't be charged a fee for using them if you use your checking account. Any paypal people out there know that for a fact?
Sandra
victorianscribe 11-11-2003, 06:37 AM I don't know it for a fact, Sandra, but I do recall that some eBay sellers won't accept PayPal credit card payments, and I can't think of any other reason why.
BTW, put me on the list -- I'd be happy to contribute to such a worthwhile project.
Cheryl Harrell 11-11-2003, 05:44 PM Sometimes stores like OFFICE MAX or STAPLES office supply stores or electronics stores like CIRCUIT CITY or BEST BUY will sometimes have deals where you can get 50 or 100 cd-r's free aftere rebate. That would be a cheap way to get the cd's to put the stuff on. If I come across that deal anywhere I can let you all know on here. Good luck with the project. :)
hue_mee 11-11-2003, 10:38 PM Well as most of you know that with 8 Simple rules running the episodes without John it has to make you wonder if he wandering around somewhere in heaven thinking if he is still remembered. Well obviously I believe so... As in Freddie's case I believe with all we have done here on the boards, the websites and this long lasting tribute CD compliments of Miss Dani and Macca. Everyone's contributions on the first Cd and now it's soon to be ever popular follow up. I believe whole heartedly that yes Freddie is smiling down in appreciation in our remembering him. For his laughter, his smile, his charm. His obviously good looks. Freddie's gratitude is appreciated through what we have done, We are doing, and what we will continue to do in the future to preserve his memory!
hue_mee 11-11-2003, 10:47 PM Thanks Miss Dani and Macca! I got so excited I forgot to post my little thank you!
Cheryl Harrell 11-12-2003, 03:03 AM & We thank you for that thank you! That was really cute! :)r Great job once again! :)
Prince 11-20-2003, 01:54 AM Cheryl,
You selected two songs for the CD. Unfortunately we only have room for one song each because of the great response we've had. Thanks everyone..I think we will have to do a vol. 3..can you believe it????? Anyway...Cheryl you picked two songs...one by the Main Ingredient and the other one by Tony Orlando...which one do you want us to include??? Please let us know by posting.
Thanks!
Cheryl Harrell 11-20-2003, 04:32 AM Hard descision LOL! The Main Ingredient one really fits him but the one by Tony Orlando has Freddie on it... Which one do ya'll want???? :)
victorianscribe 11-20-2003, 06:39 AM Well ... I would choose To Be With You, since it has Freddie singing on it. Anyone else?
Pitooey 11-20-2003, 09:20 AM I like To be with you too Cheryl. It's a beautiful song.
hue_mee 11-21-2003, 10:41 PM Well to make a long story short. We have friends over tonight. Our night consist of listening to music and watching movies on cable. They don't have cable so we have been recording stuff off of ours and watching later with them... Well anyhow! We were listening to music either on the music stations on cable or what are friends had downloaded off the internet and one of them was one of the picks on the seqel CD! OMG! When the song "I'm in you" by Peter Frampton came on... I was almost in tears......
Prince 11-22-2003, 10:59 PM Well gang...the 2nd. Tribute CD is done. The response was overwhelming, but wonderful. You'll be pleased to know that Joe and I figured out how to copy from tape to CD...so the "Freddie" song by Charlene will be included on this one. I will try to get them all out the week after Thanksgiving as I am having company all next week. If I don't have your address, please be sure to email it to me at chicoprinze22@hotmail.com. so I can send you your copy. I will ship them as I get them copied. Dani did a wonderful job on the CD Cover and label once again. I love it.
Thanks to all who participated....Freddie would love to know he has so many wonderful fans that still care after all these years.
If I sent you the first one... I have your address as I saved them all.
PS....Cheryl...are you going with the Tony Orlando song as your choice?????? Please post your answer asap. Thanks!
sfditusa 11-23-2003, 12:40 AM Hey Macca,
Please email us your address and let us pitch in with the costs of making the CD. That way we can even plan on a 3rd CD you can make for us with your copious free time
Sandra
Pitooey 11-23-2003, 01:16 AM Macca I agree with Sandra - We appreciate the trouble you go through. You and Dani..........
Plus I can't wait to hear it........ :)
victorianscribe 11-23-2003, 08:13 AM Macca, thank you so much. You sent me the first CD only a month or so ago; I'm sure you have my address.
I'm very excited, and I can't wait to hear this new CD; the first one means a great deal to me. This is such a nice Freddie-related holiday treat. And I'm sure that wherever he is, he's honored by the tribute.
I'd also like to pitch in and help pay for it.
Cheryl Harrell 11-23-2003, 12:03 PM Tony Orlando it is! Thanks for all ya'lls hard work! :)
sfditusa 11-23-2003, 01:13 PM Oh Macca and Dani!
Tawk to us girlfriends! And don't forget to add the shipping charges, as well as everything else needed to make our CD's. It is great that you are doing this for us again, and you know we are all loving the concept.
Maybe we could do a sort of photo album thing next. Oh the possibilites!
Sandra
Prince 11-23-2003, 03:15 PM Hi,
You are all so generous. I figure about $3.50-$4.00 a CD including shipping. Mind you, this is strictly voluntary. We never went into this project expecting any sort of money..so because of the holiday expenses a head for everyone, I will certainly understand if I don't hear from you. My address will be on the packages as they arrive. I can't remember what the shipping was on the CD's before...my mind is going. If you want to wait and see what it is on your package, that's fine. I am so excited that we figured out how to put taped songs on to CD, as I have cases of cassettes. Dani helped Joe and I figure out how to convert wav files to mp3 files..which is a cinch....thanks girlfriend.
Take care everyone and I hope you all enjoy this little Freddie project as much as Dani and I did putting it all together. Great song choices...Freddie would be proud. Dani and I eliminated our songs so we could get them all on one CD. We decided we particpated by doing the CD and artwork.
cool idea on the photo album too!
Luckymama58 11-23-2003, 08:21 PM I want to definitely pay for mine. OMG you all go to so much trouble with this and it is a wonderful effort. It is the least I can do to help you off set the cost. MUCHAS GRACIAS AMIGAS!!! :yippee: :clap :thanks:
hue_mee 11-23-2003, 08:45 PM Yes I am so excited that this project has become a success the second time around.
Tani, I will gladly send you something account of the expense! This is a treasure that will be like Freddie's memory. A treasure to last a life time. I can just imagine listening to this alone or with friends seeing how we all connected as a group picking each song. Seeing peoples reaction as they hear the songs and finding out that they are in Freddie's honor will be exciting to see and a great conversation piece.
Prince 11-23-2003, 11:10 PM Thanks Marie. I posted earlier that I thought it might be $3.50 to $4.00 a piece...and to just wait and see what your postage is before you send anything..but again..this is strictly volunteer.
The selections were wonderful and to get the "Freddie" song by Charlene on the CD was awesome. Now if Isaac sends me a tape of him singing the song he wrote for Freddie, I can put that on the next CD..the picture CD is an awesome idea as well. You ladies and gents on the board here are so wonderful....thanks.
Cheryl Harrell 11-24-2003, 04:40 AM Do needle Mando to record him singing that song & put it on the cd. :) :) :) :) I could send ya a coupla cd's to put it on so it won't cost ya anything for the cd's. Just let me know where to send them to... :)
Prince 11-28-2003, 09:48 PM Just wanted eveyone to know that life has settled down a bit after the Thanksgiving Holiday and my mom's birthday...so now I will begin the process of getting out your CD's. Angie got her's today because of her birthday and Dani should be getting her copy any day...thought she might like to see the finished product after all of her hard work. I will start mailing them out on Monday in no particular order. Dani and I would love to hear your reactions once you've had a listen. I am in the process of needling Isaac for a copy of his song to Freddie. Hopefully he will come through in time for the next project...whatever that may be.
Have a good time listening and hope to have all of them done and in the mail by mid-week. I only have 17 left to do..the evening is young...LOL.
Cheryl Harrell 11-29-2003, 12:38 PM Thanks to you guys for all your hard work on this! :)
