View Full Version : Brian and Sylvia...
BlAiRwArNeR09 01-15-2001, 12:25 PM Hi everyone. I don't know if it is just me or what, but I don't think the episode "Brian and Sylvia" was that great. i think it should have evolved around the girls instead of Brian and Sylvia..and one more thing..were Brian, Sylvia, and Sylvia's mom on Different Strokes?
I agree, I know they were trying to do a spinoff, but I still found that show, well -BORING. I did love Nat's reaction though when she saw it was an interracial marriage. That was a Hallmark moment http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

Jo: Things are NOT going well here. They're dragging your name through the mud...I think I'm gonna have to hit somebody.
Natalie: Who asked you to defend my honor?
Jo: I think I'm gonna have to hit you.

Michele35 01-15-2001, 01:18 PM I think Sylvia's mom was the neighbor on 'Good Times' which was popular during the late 70's. Her character was the one who adopted Janet Jackson's character on GT.

Tootie: Muffy? Her name is Muffy? What kind of person is named Muffy?
Jo: Beats me, Tootie.
jayman75 01-15-2001, 10:59 PM Keep in mind, boring as it may be, that probably the only other show at the time that had an inter-racial marriage was "The Jeffersons," with Tom and Helen Willis. I believe that "The Jeffersons" was on CBS, and since TFOL was on NBC, they might have been trying to get an audience on their side (remember, NBC was pathetic going into the 1980's). It's the same thing now with "Will & Grace." A show that has a prominate gay male character, and they start popping up (John Goodman? Puh-leaze!!!).
Just a thought.....

ThomasE 01-16-2001, 01:42 PM I agree about the Brian and Sylvia episode. It wasn't all that.
perezd 01-16-2001, 02:36 PM Brian and Slyvia eps. bombed. that's why the spin-off attempt didn't work out who are they. it's one of my least fav. eps. they skip shoplifting and other key eps. for this.
FOL85NatandMrsGRock 01-16-2001, 06:35 PM UGH!!! i HATE this episode!! it's the only episode of facts of life that i never left on tape!! i thought it was SOOO dumb! cuz i mean... it was a REALLy bad spin off attempt! who's gonna watch a show about an interratial marriage taht isn't really BASED on anythign... just a few things here or there... i mean at least with the one from diff'rent strokes mrs. garrett DID some things with the girls and solved problems and stuff and you had like situations... in this one it was just like.. oh i got a job to new york, and then im not going, and then oh yes you are... coily2 01-16-2001, 06:40 PM That show missed the exit for Relevance Avenue by about 10 years. It may have been more enjoyable and socially relevent then. But in any case, it was not funny.
iluvfacts14 01-16-2001, 06:40 PM The only reason I taped it was 'cuz Nat was pretty funny in it!! She had some good lines and reactions.....
"In 5, 4, 3, 2, ..... http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif"
------------------
Mr. Bradley: .....and that girls is the thrill of victory!
Tootie: Or the agony of DA FEET!
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
(Tootie starts rambling)
Natalie (thinking): I am going to nail her mouth to the floor. I can picture it now there'd be a spike through her tongue, but the lips would still be moving. She'd just keep whining on and on about how she'd never do that to me because she's my best friend. And if it made me feel guilty about nailing her mouth to the floor than she's glad I did it and......
(stops and realizes everyone's looking at her)
callmetootie 03-24-2001, 11:05 AM This episode was pretty lousy. I agree on that, but the last 2 episodes were the worst.

Looks like Hallmark will be missinng out on their Hallmark moment.
blair_and_jo_fan 07-13-2002, 03:47 PM Never see that episode!
Warm & Fuzzy 07-14-2002, 10:25 PM I have to agree that this episode was pretty lame. Probably on my top 5 worst episodes list... it focused too much on Brian and Sylvia and not enough on the girls & Mrs. G. Although Nat and Tootie had pretty large roles..
Mr. Stefani 07-15-2002, 06:41 PM I HATED this episode. Probably the worst of the series. Out of all the spin off attempts, the only good one would of been Natalie living in NYC.
