FOX actually let the local stations take over for about 25 minutes, but at 10:30pm ET they came back on and they are about to start the game again. It's the bottom of the 5th, tied 1-1 MonarC 10-21-2003, 10:43 PM has this ever happened before ? :D Brian 10-21-2003, 10:50 PM I'm pretty sure in almost 100 years of World Series baseball that there have been rain delays at some point or another but I don't know of any games that were postponed because of rain. I do know that in 1989, Game 3 of the World Series between the Giants and the A's was postponed ten days because of that big earthquake. MonarC 10-21-2003, 10:59 PM yeah i remember that! musicradio77 10-21-2003, 11:32 PM The Yankees got laughter in the rain when the Marlins are tied 1-1 in the middle of the game. It's was raining in Miami in game #3. In New York City, it was nice and clear. musicradio77 10-22-2003, 12:47 AM After the rain came down, Yanks won again 6-1 against the Marlins in Miami. Game #4 is tomorrow. Mr. Television 10-22-2003, 12:51 AM The series is just about over. Why oh why did Boston and Chicago choke? Brent88 10-22-2003, 10:18 AM Sadly, yes. I didn't like either team, but really wanted to see a Cubs/Sox series. Now that would have rocked!          Kitt 10-22-2003, 04:53 PM Originally posted by MonarC has this ever happened before ? :D Games were postponed because of rain, for a few days, during the 1962 World Series between the Giants and the Damn Yankees. The Yankees have long been referred to as The Damn Yankees. Most people are good sports about it, I.E. no finger wagging. Of course the lack of finger wagging in real life might be due to the danger aspect of it, and with good reason.;) MonarC 10-23-2003, 12:33 PM Florida won last night... how many innings was it? 12:eek: ? Brian 10-23-2003, 08:25 PM Alex Gonzalez's home run in the bottom of the 12th inning reminds me of Game 5 or 6 of the 1985 NLCS. In that game, in the bottom of the ninth inning, light-hitting Cardinals shortstop Ozzie Smith came to the plate against John Niedenfuer (I think that's his name). The switch-hitter had hit only hit 14 career home runs in over 5+ seasons, all of them righthanded. Smith surprised the Dodgers by belting a home run left-handed and kept the Cardinals alive for what would be an ill-fated World Series (I think a lot of baseball fans know that story.) MonarC 10-23-2003, 11:08 PM Looks like Florida wins again.... :woohoo: Kitt 10-23-2003, 11:32 PM Yeah but boy, it was a close one there at the end. Marlins are UP 3 games to 2!:) MonarC 10-23-2003, 11:53 PM :D yeah it was close EricIdlefan 10-31-2003, 12:35 PM Don't you all just wished that it was The Boston Red Sox vs The Chicago Cubs!!?? |
