View Full Version : What do you hate most?
Cokies 01-13-2001, 10:36 PM 'The Facts of Life' is a great show, no doubt about it. But you can't say it does'nt have it's faults. So i just wondering what you hate or dislike most about the show. Whether it be a character, or the theme song. Voice your opinions! Here's a list of what I don't like most...
1)Beverly Ann
2)the theme song redo(seasons 7-9)
3)Suzy-Q
4)Tootie's 'Walk like an Egyptian' hairdo in season 8.
5)'The Facts of Life Goes Down Under'(how lame!)
6)Molly's guitar playing
7)Every god-awful looking dress they put Jo in.
8) Rick, Casey, and Snake
9)the decision to paint the whole house in pastels after Edna's Edibles burnt down
10) Andy!
I might have been a bit harsh, but hey...
So, what do you hate most?

natalie green 01-13-2001, 11:48 PM i hated when blair had a perm.
------------------
mrs.g~ theres no excuse for a loose moose!
nat~ who wants to be a skinny pencil. i would rather be a happy magic marker!
tootie~hot stuff coming hot stuff coming! and the pizzas are warm too!
Rick&Jo 01-14-2001, 12:35 AM I hate Eddie.
TVaddict 01-14-2001, 12:52 AM I hated those one-piece suit things they had Jo wear around season 6 (Tootie wore them sometimes too) like the red one when they were in Ft. Lauderdale. I was just like, "Oh, Jo, what have they done to you?!?!?!"
coily2 01-14-2001, 12:54 AM I really didn't like how they tried to "fem" Jo up by putting her into icky dresses and the aforementioned godawful power-suits.
Miller15 01-14-2001, 01:21 AM Jo's wardrobe definitley was...hard to look at through the later seasons...but hey, it was the 80s, nobody's wardrobe was exactly something to rave about! And I have to agree "The Facts of Life Down Under" was pretty lame.
~~I just have to add Pippa to my list, she really annoyed the hell out of me. She was the most pointless character (and definitley did not deserve to be in the opening credits!--good point, John!)~~~

Chelsea 01-14-2001, 01:23 AM 2 things.
1) Rick.
2) Jo's wardrobe in the latter seasons.
Cokies 01-14-2001, 01:34 AM Lol, tvaddict! I agree about the powersuits in the spring break episode. Especially the yellow one, I too was 'Oh my lord, what is she wearing?!' And I agree with coily2 that Jo was put into some icky dresses over the years, the white one from 'The Oldest Living Graduate', the one in 'Just My Bill', and in 'The Reunion'. It just got really worse as the seasons went on...oh and I also hated the new font for the opening credits during the last three seasons too.

Jo fan 01-14-2001, 01:41 AM hi, I don't care what Jo wore as long as she had a big part. I think Jo is a great actor. If anybody has any movies with Jo/Nancy McKeon in them please let me know because I will give about anything for them. my email address is myoreoiscute@aol.com please email me I am looking for anything, thanks

As far as the dress that Jo wore in "Oldest Living Graduate" I thought that was the worst thing she ever wore. When I saw her in that I went to pieces. I was cracking up with laughter.
Cokies 01-14-2001, 02:25 AM Exactly ThomasE!I reacted the same way. My reaction was to gag, or just laugh my ass off, i couldnt pick. LOL!

lesliem14 01-14-2001, 02:26 AM That dress was awful, but the one she wore when they went to that dance at the military academy ranks right up there. I sort of understand why Jo wore the skirts, suits, etc, in the last season because she was working, no longer in college. As much as you like jeans, they're not the most appropriate in a work environment. In college you can get away with wearing pretty much whatever you want.
NancyMcKeonRules 01-14-2001, 03:50 AM Things I hated:

josthebest 01-14-2001, 02:31 PM What I Hate: (Some are repeats of yours)
-the first, Jo-less season
-Andy and Beverly Ann
-the kitschy store Over Our Heads
-the way Jo "mellowed" over the years and
started dressing & acting more like the
other girls (We need more threats of violence!! LOL)
-the new version of the theme song
-the original theme song
-Tootie's hideous, bell-shaped haircut in the middle seasons (Was this the "Walk Like an Egyptian" one?)
I better stop now... (:
JohnMcMillin 01-14-2001, 02:37 PM the first season
Pippa
the final episode
the first theme song
Blair's hair in the first few season 7 episodes
making Andy and Pippa big enough characters to merit being in the opening credits.
among others
Cokies 01-14-2001, 04:24 PM josthebest- The Tootie haircut i'm talking about is from the 8th season(or around there). It looks like those old Egyptian hieroglyphics(sp?). It's scary!
Oh,and John reminded me, I totally hate Pippa!

Polniaczek77 01-14-2001, 06:05 PM Things I hate:
1. Pippa
2. The way Jo turned into a "girl"
3. The first season
4. Molly
5. Nancy
...
--------
Jo: Well, I'm not gonna stand around playin' stupid guessing games. Who is it?!
Pippa: Franni!
Jo: Ya see, it's just Franni. Who the hell is Franni?!
Andy: Merry Christmas!!
Tootie: Do you know what day it is?
Jo: Yeah, it's the day I lost all feeling in my neck. (looks at Andy) Who are you?
Andy: Ho ho ho!
Jo: Awww. That's sweet. Go 'way.
Mrs. G: Natalie, why don't you show Jo a better place to park her bike.
Jo: Why don't I just park it on Blair's face!?
Natalie: She's a breath of fresh air, isn't she?
Blair: She must think we're into nostalgia, she's still wearing flared jeans.
Jo: Uh, in a minute your gonna be wearin' flared teeth.
Jo: We'll sneak out tonight after dinner, OK?
Blair: OK.
Tootie: Yeah, we'll be ready.
Blair: We? Would you like to explain that?
Tootie: Sure. See, we is the first person plural pronoun. Me and Nat are a we, and we are going with you.
Jo: It was just like Saturday night fever, only it was a Friday.
Cokies 01-14-2001, 10:04 PM That reminds me, I hated how every scene Nancy was in the first season, that she would always be on the phone with Roger. She was really annoying.

"It was just like Saturday Night Fever, only it was a Friday."
KerriBerri687 01-14-2001, 10:07 PM jo's wardrobe and most of all....Blair's perm! lol http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
#1_Nancy_McKeon 01-15-2001, 06:51 AM I hated Blair's hair (laid straght down Eww)in the episode when she is being "SoreThroat" over the phone talking to Natalie.(sorry I don't know the name of the episode) Also I really didn't like that white dress Jo wore in "The Oldest Living Graduate" either! I like Jo's wardrobe besides that though usually... I personally thought her clothes in the later seasons were pretty cool..I must be weird! LOL..

I liked the dressshe wore to the military academy. I think she looked pretty in it.
Cokies 03-10-2001, 09:21 PM Cool, you brought back my topic.
About the dress she wore in 'The Academy' was a little 'ruffely' shall we say.
But that's probably nnot an insult, codsidering all those other dresses she wore.(shudder).

Lisa,Blair,GoodGirl 03-10-2001, 09:47 PM When they changed Jo's Ponytail to that god alful fuffy mess of hair.
FOLmania 03-11-2001, 03:31 AM LOL! I'm strictly a ponytail Jo, myself!
My hate list:
1. Stacy Q
2. Andy
3. That juvenile deliquent girl who was in like, 4 episodes (can't remember her name)
4. Mrs. G's suitors (they were all pretty lame)
5. Any references to the "Head Over Heels" merchandise and how kitchy it was
6. Jo's 80s "go-go boots" (I swear she wore leg warmers in a couple of eps)
7. Blair's awful, overdone feathered bangs
[This message has been edited by FOLmania (edited 03-11-2001).]
Blair85 03-11-2001, 03:48 AM I thought it was stupid how all the girls lived together until they were like 30! I didn't like how most episodes just focused on Jo.I hated FOL goes to paris or whatever because it was soooo boring. the last episode stunk,and i might think of some more....
lighthouse965 03-11-2001, 09:13 AM 1. Roy
2. Andy
3. Pippa
4. The spin off attempts
5. Eddie
Todd
Polniaczek-Bonner 03-11-2001, 11:08 AM The only things i really hate are the 1 piece suits and the whole Jo attitude change. She was like a really different person, and it wasnt funny. I've only seen 1 episode in the 9th season, and it only had a little of Jo, but she was wearing a skirt without a reason (although she was married). Her clothes I could of lived with though if they didn change Jo's whole charater!!!!
------------------
Blair- It's 1984, isnt it
Jo-very good, now do you wanna guess what planet we're on
80skid 03-11-2001, 02:53 PM I'll have to agree with most people on the last season Jo... I loved Nancy's hair in the last one but I couldn't STAND the fact the writers decided it was time to make Jo look like, well, not Jo!

Cokies 03-11-2001, 06:48 PM I think everyone is a little miffed about the change of character in the last few seasons... and yes,(sadly)she did wear leg warmers.
My question is, why did the actresses let the wardrobe people do that do them?
Even though it was the 80's, they were all MAJOR fasion victims.(Just look at the 7th season!)
------------------
"It was just like Saturday Night Fever, only it was a Friday."
Michele35 03-12-2001, 01:33 AM The 7th season was definitely a fashion disaster for all the girls. They all had hideous big hair do's during the time that Edna's edibles burned down and they opened Over Our Heads. I think Nick ran a joke about all that aerosol from their hairspray burning a hole in the ozone layer. Jo and Blair looked especially hideous imo but luckily the hairstyles improved in season 8 when Beverly Ann showed up. Unfortunately, the girls were stuck wearing bad clothes thru out the rest of the series.
------------------
Tootie: Muffy? Her name is Muffy? What kind of person is named Muffy?
Jo: Beats me, Tootie.
Mr. Observation 03-12-2001, 04:51 AM I,ve always hated how Mrs. G always grilled the younger girls aka Nat & Tootie for their mistakes while Blair & Jo received less "groundings" for similar ones. One episode that comes to mind is Mind Your Own Business when Blair not only reads, but divulges all to everyone. Blair receives a "little not nice" from Mrs. G but Nat recieves heck when she attempts to seek well deserved revenge. Did anyone else sense this too?
JoPol_wannabe 03-12-2001, 02:16 PM Here is what I hate most:
The First season
Mr. Parker
Roy (He was so annoying)
------------------
Blair: No one look now but there are some classy guys beside us
Tootie & Nat: Where where
Blair: I’m never going out with you guys again
Tootie: I bet they like us there stopping
JO: Its a red light
Tootie: Um Blair I think you should see this
JO: What
Nat: Blair’s classy guys are mooning us
triple19 03-12-2001, 03:57 PM What I hated most about the show:
1) the final episode (it sucked big time)
2) the whole first season
3) Pippa
4) Most of the fashions on the later
seasons. Those jumpsuit things that
Jo, Natalie, and Tootie wore were
awful.
5) The white dress Jo wore in "The
Oldest Living Graduate". That
by far was the worst thing she wore.
Also, while I thought a lot of the
clothes Jo wore in the later seasons
were awful, I also agree with LeslieM
that what Jo wore in the last season
wasn't bad . After all, after all Jo
was a career girl, and in the real
work world, one has to look pro-
fessional. Sweats, jeans, and
sneaks just won't cut it in the
office.
6) The hairdos the girls wore in the Mid
80's. Those make me cringe.
7) The theme song in the last seasons.
Updating it for the late 80's made
sound awful, and dated.
Cokies 03-12-2001, 09:10 PM Michele- I do think their hair styles did 'improve' after season 7...somewhat.
But like you said, they were still stuck in those clothes. I mean, you have to admit, other shows at the same time were'nt nearly as bad...fashion-wise.
------------------
"It was just like Saturday Night Fever, only it was a Friday."
NancyJoJinny 03-13-2001, 07:05 PM LIST:
1)First season girls
2)The onepiece thing Jo wore in "Gone with the wind"
3)Jos hair in season 6. ALl fluffy and poofy.
Actally i like the way she dressed in the last season, it looked good, but it did take away from the "Jo" image
Devon King 03-13-2001, 10:37 PM The Blair & Casey romance.
I get the whole "opposites attract" thing but I just didn't buy them as a couple. (Dr. Cliff or Handyman Ben... now that worked!)
"You're a 'ha-ndy man'?!"
And while we're on the subject, why did Jo let Rick get away with behavior she would've smacked anyone else for? Hmmm?
NancyFan 03-13-2001, 11:18 PM Because when Rick does it, it's cute! (Sorry, I know that didn't help!)
Purple Velvet Bohemian 03-14-2001, 03:30 PM Beverly Ann
Andy
Pippa
And some of the shows were really corny, especially the ones in the last couple of seasons.
I really liked that show, but I pretty much stopped watching it after Beverly Ann started on the show. I missed Charlotte Rae/Mrs. Garrett. Aww! I'm sorry so many people don't like the 1st season. It was my favorite because it was more like a girls school then. I know the reason for many of you is because Nancy McKeon isn't on it, but still, it's good. I guess I'm the only one who liked it, huh?

Weeell. not really. i liked some of the eps. but not all.they were all tolerable but sometimes they acted so stupid.
N*E ways i REALLY hated that ep. "TALK,TALK,TALK.
it bored me to DEATH.
Mary Covey 03-15-2001, 09:21 PM The final episode
Roy
Miss Mahoney
Molly's song in Molly's Holiday (it was pointless)
The fact that everybody doesn't like 80's hairstyles (I mean, really people, I have long hair, and I desperately want it to look like Blair's in the seventh season. The 80's hairstyles rocked compared to the sucky short ones of today!)
And, another thing... the fact that Geri was taken off mysteriously!
P.S., I like Talk Talk Talk!
(one of my faves)
zoomie 03-17-2001, 04:54 PM What I was not too crazy about was that runaway/smart mouthed girl that was added to the cast right after Edna's Edibles opened. I forgot what her name was on the show, but she reminded me of a pint-sized Jo. She stole from the store and eventually got a job there, and a few episodes later, she was never mentioned or seen again. Maybe Mrs. Garrett got tired of her smart mouth and chained her to the oven in the kitchen!

Wild Child 03-18-2001, 12:23 AM My list:
1.PIPPA
2.1st season w/out Jo.
3.Those very ugly full body suits Jo wore.
4.The overalls Nat wore where the bottom front was darker and different design than the top front and back.(I'm sorry but they were ugly! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/frown.gif)
5.The last ep...it kinda sucked.
6.Beverly Anne.
7.Over Our Heads
I can't really think of anymore at the moment.....

"Your born,you move on,you die,that's life."-Jo
Nancy McKeon is #1!!
callmetootie 03-21-2001, 08:43 PM Andy and Beverly Ann pretty much ruined the last 2 seasons together. I could have lived without a few of the 1st season girls. Kelly Afintio from the 5th and 6th season had a really lousy script.
------------------
Andrew Carden
FOL-FAN 03-21-2001, 09:06 PM I hate Kelly! She was a lousy written Jo wannabe and not at all funny!
Cokies 03-21-2001, 10:02 PM Jo should of beat her up when she would'nt give back the $50 bucks. I think i've said this before, but that would of been awesome!

FOL-FAN 03-21-2001, 11:30 PM Yeah, she should have decked her. Hey, she decked Blair for less than that! Why not that smurf?

B:I don't care.
J:Thats all I wanted to hear.(Police car pulls them over)
J:You said you wanted to meet a guy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
FOL-FAN 03-22-2001, 12:37 AM Kelly Affanatto. She was like a small version of Jo that sort of join the cast. At least she figured in the opening credits. Anyway, she used to steal from Mrs. Garret store and do graffities and lie a lot. In the end she made Blair paid her protection money ($50) or she would bust every window in the store. Jo found out where she lived and made her give her the $50 back and told her not to show up again in Mrs. Garret shop. But she did; they sort of work things out and Kelly hang around for some episodes from then on. Yuck!
Cokies 03-22-2001, 12:38 AM In 'Small but Dangerous' this supposed hoodlum named Kelley, comes around the shop all the time, trying to have this truce between some gang that's allegedly graffiting the shop and the garbage cans. It's sorta hard to explain...anyway this Kelley girl comes to the shop and starts throwing jars around and makes Blair take $50 out of the register, blah, blah, blah. Jo finds out and goes to this girls house to get the money and unfortunitly Jo does'nt beat her up and gets back the $50. Then we find out that Kelley is'nt that bad...and then she just starts hanging out around the shop just being annoying.
I hope that clears it up some...
------------------
"It was just like Saturday Night Fever, only it was a Friday."
Michele35 03-22-2001, 01:36 AM I agree that Kelly was horrible! I never understood why they got rid of all those girls after the first season and then every other year or so afterwards felt the need to introduce a new girl like Kelly or Pippa or Cousin Geri or that Princess chick.
Just my opinion here, but I would like to strongly dissuade the person who is considering getting that 80's poofy style hairdo...Please do not do it!!
[This message has been edited by Michele35 (edited 03-22-2001).]
FOL-FAN 03-22-2001, 12:27 PM You're forgeting about Miko. She also hang around for some time. I didn't like either.
coily2 03-22-2001, 01:40 PM All the cast additions sucked. Kelly, Miko, Pippa, Andy, and as much as it pains me to say it, George. At least George was gentle on the eyes.
Cokies 03-23-2001, 05:13 PM Whoops, I must have posted right exactly after FOL-FAN, sorry about that.
And Michele is right, the casting additions were one of the producers major mistakes.
I'd say the the Princess girl was least annoying, maybe because she was the only one who was supposed to be. Hmmm...
------------------
"It was just like Saturday Night Fever, only it was a Friday."
FOL-FAN 03-23-2001, 06:06 PM At least they didn't stick around for a long time.
Gemini_89 02-14-2016, 09:04 PM 1. Getting rid of Kelly. She was way more interesting than anybody in season 1 or even most of the other additions to the cast. I liked her scenes with the girls, especially Jo and they were hilarious as hell. Just my opinion.
2. Adding George Clooney. He was NOT NEEDED at all!
3. Jo stopped wearing those sexy flannel shirts and army fatigues after season 5, no no no.
Gemini_89 02-14-2016, 11:19 PM I hated all of it. The show sucks
Why do you think that it sucks?
Crusinforabrusin 02-15-2016, 07:10 AM Don't call me a sexist or anything, but one reason I didn't like the show was because it was mainly an all girl cast. I like tv shows that have a balanced amount of men and women. The Facts Of Life just did not have it.
Ihavealife2uknow 02-15-2016, 08:55 PM 1. Some of the episodes that were meant to be spin-off attempts. I don't mind the one where Blair buys Eastland, and the one where Natalie moves to Soho is okay but the others weren't episodes I would want to rewatch.
2. Lack of the girls "serious" relationships on screen. We saw a fair amount of Tootie/Jeff but some of the others like Natalie/Snake we didn't see much development on screen for. I get that this show was more about the girls friendships so they didn't want to get too deep in their love lives but I wouldn't have minded seeing those relationships that are important to the character more than we did.
3. Completely dropping Sue Ann, Nancy and Cindy after season 2/3. I'm not talking about the decision about making the core cast what it became, but the cast eventually added more secondary characters anyway like Boots, Kelly, Pippa etc. It would've been cool to see them in more seasons in episodes where the girls need someone to hangout with besides each other, or if they needed to tackle an issue on the show that they didn't want to make the girls do themselves like the suicide episode for example they could have fit in there.
