View Full Version : Once a week?! barwars 10-20-2003, 08:54 PM How did Cheers fans survive in the 80s?!?! MaydayMalonesGirl 10-20-2003, 08:57 PM I have no idea. And we complain if we don't get our Cheers once a day. MaydayMalonesGirl 10-20-2003, 08:59 PM And don't forget they showed them in seasons, so after the season finale you'd have to wait months to see it again! DianeChambers87 10-20-2003, 09:04 PM 11 years.... approximately 3 months without knowing who that person on the other end of the phone that Sam was proposing to was.......:shudders: Janice, and I think Brian saw it in it's original run. What are your thoughts on this you two? NORM 10-20-2003, 11:12 PM Tim you watch survivor, think of it that way. Having to wait a whole week for it to come on again, and on thursday no less. It all kind of fits. Just anticipating what will happen. AKA 10-21-2003, 12:43 AM I watched it during its original run, too. I really don't have anything constructive to add to this thread. Just a little random bragging. Brian Damage 10-21-2003, 10:46 AM It was tough in it's original run, I thought Sammy was proposing to that politician lady. It was worse when Diane left the show and you knew that next season was going to be totally different. barwars 10-21-2003, 12:10 PM Were you guys fans from the original run?? once a week, I guess it works. I wish I never knew the overall plotline for ANY tv show. Then in reruns, everything would be a surprise. Brian Damage 10-21-2003, 12:22 PM I was a bigtime fan during its original run. barwars 10-21-2003, 12:29 PM Thats cool. I wish I was around for the original run. Im glad Ive gotten into Frasier before the show ends There's so much more anticipation when you dont know what happens next. Its never the same in reruns. Brian Damage 10-21-2003, 12:31 PM true AKA 10-21-2003, 03:05 PM Well, I was pretty young when the series was in its original run. To be honest, I never saw the show until it went into syndication in the fall of 1988. My eight-year-old self became hooked, though, and was given special permission to stay up past nine on Thursdays! I was a big fan in its original run. All my sixth grade classmates thought I was nuts for being excited about the final episode. Janice 10-23-2003, 11:52 AM Cheers was my favorite show during its original run. I remember for many years I worked as a bartender and had to work Thursday nights, so I would tape the NBC lineup. My husband and I would watch it later that night. Family Ties, Cosby (which I used to love, ugh) and Nightcourt. Cheers often played out like a soap opera as opposed to other shows. That Sam and Diane storyline was something else. I couldn't wait to see what would happen from week to week. I lost a lot of interest in the show when Shelley left. I watched it passively from that point on. I still haven't seen some of the episodes that followed her departure. barwars 10-29-2003, 05:05 PM What did you guys think of "The Tortellis"?? My mom said that she watched Cheers occassionally, but hated The Tortellis, actually.... she still recognizes Anthony Tortelli from it when he's on Cheers. |
