I haven't been around much the past few days because I was visiting one of my Freddie friends on this board, Mariposa. Her town has a Pumpkin show and hubby and I went to see it and the family. We had a great time.

I was commenting to my hubby on the way out there that I need to try to plan trips to see some of the rest of you all. I have met Mariposa and Ptooey, but I would love to go and see Cheryl sometime, she only lives a couple of hours from me. I would also love to plan the ultimate trip and go and pick up Mariposa and go on a week long road trip to see huemee, macca and joy. OMG that would be fun. I guess it will have to wait till I get some more money tho. Right now, the kids and the house get it all! LOL

We had a blast this weekend. I have more traveling to do this week. My son graduates from Army basic training on Wednesday, so we will be traveling down to Fort Knox, KY. Keep us all in your prayers!

We'd love to meet Luckymama & the others too! That would be fun! :) I was thinking she was about 3 or 4 hrs away... If anyone does drop by to visit us, do let us know well in advance so I can clean up house. I am a real Oscar Madison LOL!

Cheryl, my hubby thinks is it closer to three and a half, but he doesn't know how I drive! LOL :p I am thinking it might be closer to two and a half.... BTW do you know where Winchester VA is? I live near there!

You shoulda seen us cleaning house before Lucky and her hubby arrived OMG! My girls and I are Oscar Madisons and my hubby is morphing into one after being around me for 18 years hee hee!

We did have the most fantastic time! The weather was perfect-- apart from some rain on the morning of the full day we spent at the Pumpkin Show (Friday). Lucky had won CATM t-shirts for us on eBay and we wore them that day (no comments from any of the thousands of other people at the Show, though).

Saturday I left the kids with my hubby, so Lucky and her hubby and I could go to a farmers' market, then up to Columbus to a music store (they are both singers and musicians--plus Lucky directs choirs at her school and church. Her hubby teaches music at a different school and gives private piano lessons).

Then we were gonna go to that Colleen's Collectables you told us about, Cheryl--but it was closed for remodelling OMG! We ended up at the big mall downtown, having coffee and Cinnabon Sticks and browsing Bath and Body Works and the artwork and candle shops.

Saturday night we went to the final parade of the Show. This one includes as many queens from festivals around Ohio as are able to come, and you find out which floats won awards. But the marching band from the high school my kids will attend was represented that night only by the percussion section--we were soooo disappointed!

Sunday we all went to my church, then out to lunch at the local steakhouse. Lucky and her hubby left from there to go home. As you have probably noticed, they made it back just fine! Thanx mucho for your prayers!

I know where Winchester is & have been there before. One of my cousins used to go to the Shenandoah music conservatory there. Didn't know Colleen was remodeling tho. Sounds like ya'll had a great time! :)

Thanks Mariposa for filling in the details of our visit. It was all the wonderful things you said and more. I guess my head isn't too screwed on straight right now, cause I am thinking of this next trip. SIGH

Cheryl, my hubby got his masters in music ed at the Shenandoah Conservatory! Small world. Email me and we will talk about my coming down sometime.

Ptooey, I remember the time we met very fondly. How is the moving coming along? Email me and let me know! Say hi to hubby for me. :D

My cousin went there in the late 609's & early 70's. That's neat he went there. We'll have to get together sometime... :) Sounds like ya'll had a great trip. :)

No problen for me to describe such a great visit! But I know what you mean about your head not being on straight--we had a couple of late nights hee hee! Thanx mucho for bringing the evenings' entertainment! (Lucky brought DVD's of the movie "Holes" and the "Blue Collar Comedy Tour", featuring Jeff Foxworthy and Bill Ingvall.)

I just wanted to remind everyone that they should pray for the safety of Lucky and her family (including her parents), who are travelling today to see her son graduate from Army basic training. The graduation is tomorrow, then Lucky and her hubby will have to drive back home so they can be in their classrooms again Thursday. She estimated that they would arrive home at about 4 AM Thursday OMG! Keep this in mind when you pray for them--they will both be VERY tired while on the road back, not to mention as they teach on Thursday!

BTW, Cheryl--how far is it to Roanoke from where you live? I might have to tag along if Lucky comes to visit you, and take a detour to visit my other dark angel hee hee!

It is so nice to hear about your visit. That is so cool. I am sure it was lots of fun and very special to meet in person with others who love Freddie so much. Thank-you for sharing your visit with us. I am glad that a nice time was had by all and that your travel was safe.

Roanoke, VA is about 4 hours or so from us...Arlo Guthrie is supposed to go to Roanoke, VA 11-14-2003 & we are going. He is also going to Staunton, VA the day before which is the 13th & we are going. If anyone would like to go & see Arlo in concert & meet up with us at the show, that would be cool... :)

It may be more like 3. Not sure as I can't quite remember. I looked it up & according to Mapquest it is 3 hours, 40 minutes... If ya'll are ever down here on a Tues nite you'll have to go with us to the local Western Sizzler where we meet Mikes cousin & her family to eat out... :)

Sooo much for all of your thoughts and prayers. We had a safe trip and a good time. I was so proud of my son. He looks soo grown up now. But he still is his same ornery self! tee hee. He was teasing me about the picture of Mariposa and I in our CATM tee shirts from the pumpkin show! LOL I guess it will take more than a couple of months in the army to change that! LOL

It is fun to travel and see everyone, but right now I am exausted. I just came back from my third trip in two weeks. We had a teacher meeting in a town in WV that is about 3 hours from here. Fortunately one of the other teachers from my school who had to go drove. I just sat in the back seat and rested. But now my traveling is over and I hope to get back into the swing of things at school. My students think I have deserted them! LOL

Cheryl, I will be in contact with you about a visit. I am thinking maybe one weekend in the spring or even the week after Easter when I have my spring break. I will let you know later.

GOD BLESS THE USA and pray for our troops!patriot:

I know!!!! You guys should all come to Baton Rouge to experience Mardi Gras! It would be a blast. Whaddya think?!?

It's also warm here, while you are freezing up there in the North  I would love to meet everyone. I feel like we are all family with all of the sharing we do, and our one major connection to each other, our gorgeous sweet Freddie.

That would be so cool if you guys came down for Mardi Gras. Baton Rouge is really great, because it doesn't get too wild or skanky, yet if you want that, New Orleans is only an hour away.

How about you Joy and Macca, luckymama, Victorianscribe, and Elizabeth, Suzanne, Wheeeone, and everyone else. Whaddya think?

I forgot to mention why Baton Rouge is a good place to be for Mardi Gras. It is more of a family oriented Mardi Gras. Still fun parades, with lots of floats, and stuff being thrown from them, but just more tame. Not scary, just plain fun.

I looked through this thread and saw that mariposa and atlangel also was posting on this thread. Yet of course, anyone from our Freddie is welcome to visit the deep south whether you have posted on this thread or not.

I'm here in Shreveport and we have Mardi Gras too. Yes, I know we're considered "way up north" by the Cajun standards, but we do have all the perks too! Plus we have the riverboat casinos and almost any kind of food you could ever want for. Can you tell I've been trying to round up tourists?

I looked it up on the internet & it is a 16 hr trip from my home to New Orleans. :( Looks liike I wouldn't get to go cuz it is so far from me to travel there & esp with us driving. :( How about North Carolina? Thats only a few hrs away... :) Unless someone could swing by & pick us up on their way down there & we help ya with the gas... :)

Oh man, I would get you Cheryl, but I think I have shot my wad as far as days off at school this year..... But it would be a fun time, I know. If I were even to consider it, I would have to fly, and I am chicken and broke! LOL But thanks for the invite.... maybe one year I will, I know I would love to.

I was just telling Mariposa yesterday, if only they would invent that transporter device from Star Trek, huh! Man I would be visiting all of you all every available minute... What a blast that would be.

BTW since we are on this topic, let's plan an imaginary CATM convention... I know we can't get to a real one, but if we could, what would you like to see happen at it????

I agree Pitooey. I have been blessed to communicate with Isaac for so long. He has told me some wonderful funny bits, and stories involving Freddie. His story that he is telling us at his Hombre Guapo Isaac Ruiz MSN Group is getting better and better each time. Isaac has told me over the phone the completed story and OMG! It is so funny!

Maybe we could all get together somwhere between Luckymama's place & my place. Sounds like the folks down south could travel better than we could. I'd bring my Freddie scrapbook... Looking Good! :)

I would bring all my ebay stuff to let everyone paruse and my guitar so I could sing the CATM theme song, Sweet nightmare, and the Freddie song by Charlene! I would also make sure everyone would have their tapes and we could set up one of those theater sized TV screens so we could watch CATM, Million Dollar ripoff and all the other tapes of Freddie on the large screen with surround sound. Then we could all sigh, cry, laugh and smile together!
I also would make copies of all my stories for people to have! This would be a blast. We could even dress up as a character from the show, like they do at other conventions..... I dunno who I would go as, maybe Mabel, but I don't have the figure for it.... I would be more the size of Flora I am afraid (and even she looked better than I do! LOL)

I would love for this to happen! I have a large projection t.v., and have the speakers from stereo hooked up to the t.v., so we could watch everything luckymamma suggested!

I understand the fear of travelling. I definitely have that as well. I also have my three young babes to take care of, so it would also be hard to just take off.

I don't remember how far shreveport is from baton rouge, perhaps everyone could travel somewhere in between and Dani and I could drive to meet everyone?

It would be great if this happened, and even if it doesn't it is fun to think about.

Sandra :)

Cheryl Harrell
10-27-2003, 02:43 AM
Ya'll have some neat ideas! :) Maybe we could all travel halfway & someone come & get us. Mike would have to come with us as I don't travel anywhere without him. He would get a big kick outta it tho. We'd also have to make sure it's not around any shows Arlo is doing in VA, NC, MD, DC or WV or OH as when he comes anywhere near VA, I have to go... It could be a mini convention... :)

This idea should be cultivated further. It could be really fun. How cool would it to have all Freddie fans together in one spot!

How do people feel about Louisiana? You could come during the winter, and be somewhere warmer for a bit. If you give me addresses, perhaps I could go to mapquest and find the best way for several people to hook up en route.

I love to travel! Driving is so relaxing to me; especially by myself! If it weren't for all the things that are tying me down at the moment (job, young kids, lack of funds) I would hop in the car tonight and make a road trip to stop in and see all you guys!
One of the jobs I would love to have is ....(don't laugh, girls!) to be a trucker!

Cheryl Harrell
11-02-2003, 06:01 AM
I could use you to drive Mike & I around LOL! You are lucky that driving relaxes you, as it stresses me out LOL! Mike cannot drive anymore due to diabetes having made him legally blind so I have to do all the driving LOL! I used to get panic disorder driving in traffic & let Mike do all the driving. But when he couldn't drive anymore & I had to do it all, I fortunately got over my panic disorder. I still get nervous sometimes in unfamiliar areas when traveling but not like before. I had a late Uncle who used to be a trucker. His trucking partner was Andy Griffiths cousin & I got to meet him a few times...

Karen, I am exactly the same way. I have told that to my friends all the time about being a trucker. It is a good thing my hubby would rather be a passenger! LOL We get along great that way!

If it wasn't for lack of funds and school right now, I would be road trippin to all youall!~

One of the great things about our Freddie friends on here is how we all pull together for each other. Well I have a request from everone. I just got a call from my sister who lives with my parents in NC. Seems my dad was having pains when he was on the golf course today, and they took him into the ER. They did blood work and ran a stress test, then the doctor began massage on some of the veins and arteries around the heart and one of them got his heart beating more normally and the pains went away. So the doctor released him.... and my parents went out to eat because my dad hadn't eaten all day, being he was in the hospital all day. Well while they were out, my sister got a call from the doctor and said that one of the tests came back and showed his cardiac enzime level was elevated and he wanted to put my dad into the hospital overnight for observations. My sister has to tell my parents when they get back from dinner that they need to go back to the hospital. My sister is a nurse, so she knows a little about what is going on. So I am asking for prayer from everyone I know. I am sure he will be ok and I know he is in God's hands, but he is 70 and I can't help but be a bit worried. Thanks for all of your support.

Luckymama, I will continue to keep your family in my prayers especially your father. At his age and being one of your parents, I can relate as I metioned to you earlier what my mother went through. I will pray not only for him but for the whole family to remain strong, have courage through your dads situation, and wisdom to understand what the doctors have to say along with God's will regarding your dad health and well being. We are all pulling for your dad and please let us know how he is doing!

Prayers just said. I can relate as my dad had a heart attack once & a couple of uncles & an aunt died of one. At 80 something my dad is still kicking around, slow & diabetic but but still here. We had a recent heart scare in my family as my cousin had to have a heart catherization Mon & they found a coupla blockages & had to have surgery on those. Looks like they caught a problem just in time. he could use some prayers too. Here's hoping your dad will get better soon & have no more problems. Best wishes to him, you & the family for continued healing. Prayers & vibes...

Well, Ms Marie, seems no matter how grown up you think you are, when something happens to a parent, we all become a scared 5 year old. Thanks, you guys.... I knew I could count on you all. I keep telling people that we have a family on here and it is the truth.

I talked with my other sister last night. She was going through some of her own personal problems when my other sister called her, so she wasn't too prepared for what she had to say. So she called me last night to get an update. We talked for a while, which was a good thing for us. My sister in NC wasn't home last night, I am presuming she went to the hospital with my parents. I know I would have been there if I was down there. Anyway, we are waiting anymore word and as soon as I get it, I will pass it along to you all.

Dani, you are so right re parents and you are never too old. I am the oldest of 5 kids and my two sisters and two brothers kinda look up to me, which is sometimes good and sometimes not so good. I know my parents have a lot of faith in my leadership ability in our family that I don't even have in myself sometimes. Last night when I was on the phone with my youngest sister, who lives in NJ, I had to be the big sister and keep her calm. But I only wish I felt it for myself too. I did feel like a little kid of 5 when I had time to just take it in myself. Thank God for my hubby, who was there for me. Both of his parents are now deceased, so he knows what this is all about. It is nice to have him and you all to keep me strong. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. I know whatever happens, my father is in the best hands possible.... God's.

I talked to my mom for the 30 minute ride into school. My dad is doing fine. They just wanted to run more blood tests to see if there was any damage from the episode yesterday. Seems it was more of a racing of his heart than pain. But he is feeling fine now and hopes to be out of the hospital as soon as the tests are run. My mom said I sounded the calmest of all the kids, but I told her that was only on the outside! LOL I told her about what I posted here earlier. I am grateful to you all for you care and concern. It helps to calm me!

Joy, I will definitely keep your mom in prayer. My mother in law lost both her legs and her eyesight to this before she finally died from it. It is a terrible thing. My mother in law was as close to my mom to me and I miss her all the time, even tho it has been about 15 years.

So glad Luckymama's dad is doing better. Hope he continues to get better... Prayers just said for Joy's mom. Mike & I both have diabetes with undiagnosed diabetes causing Mike to get diabetic retinopathy in his eyes which made him legally blind. & I got diabetic neuropathy in my feet & body from it.
