What happened in the episode you are referring to is, Henry had some rare collectible stamps and Brandon got ahold of them and ate them. Henry got mad at Punky (and the dog), so she took Brandon outside for a walk, then yes, the dog was hit by a car and ended up almost dying. It was a great episode, but very sad. :)
