View Full Version : eBay Question
victorianscribe 10-15-2003, 10:23 PM OK, I just came back from teaching two CCD classes at my church, and I'll admit that my brain is fried, but as far as I can tell, this photo up on eBay is not Freddie. I hope the link works:

Any thoughts on this?
Prince 10-15-2003, 11:56 PM You are so right...not even close.. the eyes give it away...nice wig though.
Cheryl Harrell 10-16-2003, 01:46 AM I saw this too & thought his eyes looked weird & his hair looked different. I noticed the guy was wearing a tank top & I'd never seen Freddie wear one of those. Since the previous owner of the pic said the person who gave it to her said they were Freddie, I wonder if the person who gave it to her was pretending to be Freddie? Just wondering...

Is it me or does this guys chest look hairier than Freddies????
Cheryl Harrell 10-16-2003, 02:00 AM Here are some closeups of it...
Danisel331 10-16-2003, 03:49 AM Maybe this is just a crazy notion, but I've been thinking about this and I've come to this possible conclusion. Since it's obvious this is NOT Freddie but someone trying to look like him, maybe that was just the case. What I'm trying to say is that maybe this fellow was on his way to TinselTown to try out for the role of Freddie in the movie Can You Hear The Laughter?. For some reason that helps explain why he would write "Remember Freddie Prinze". Well it does to me and maybe the person who got the picture misunderstood. I know it's a longshot, but maybe???
Cheryl Harrell 10-16-2003, 04:26 AM That could very well be. I noticed this guy kinda resembles how Ira Augustain looked in the movie. & Also this guy looks as if he is tryng to look more machoer looking. Freddie never had to try. He looked great as he was... I also noticed this guys eyes are both the same. With Freddies eyes one eye looked like it was smaller than the other one...
Luckymama58 10-16-2003, 06:51 AM HERE IS THE BIG DIFFERENCE LADIES!!!!!
FREDDIE HAD NO HAIR ON HIS CHEST!!!!!
THIS GUY HAS A PERSIAN RUG ON HIS!!!!! LOL
BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!
MariposaLKB 10-16-2003, 07:47 AM This is a very nice-looking guy but it ain't Freddie! The eyes, the tank top, the chest hair...not to mention that Freddie didn't make the "e"'s in his signature like backward 3's. Whoever signed this pic had some of Freddie's letters down, such as the capital "F" and "P" and the small "r" and "z"--but those "e"'s OMG!
That brings me to the scribble at the end of the "autograph"--perhaps it is the REAL name of the signer?
Also, this is described as Freddie when he was very young--he didn't have a mustache that thick until near the end of his life!
Either the original owner was taken in, or she is trying to take in the person selling this on ebay!
Prince 10-16-2003, 08:14 AM I love it when they say the pic was taken of a young Freddie Prinze....I think 22 is still very young. I noticed the chest hair too. Freddie's chest was clean and gorgeous...not even close.
Pitooey 10-16-2003, 08:52 AM NOT..................
Prince 10-16-2003, 09:06 AM Jenny Lee,
I have your Freddie Tribute CD here to ship out....please send me your address girl. chicoprinze22@hotmail.com
Pitooey 10-16-2003, 09:23 AM Your email has been sent... ;)
victorianscribe 10-16-2003, 12:28 PM clean and gorgeous
MMMM ... I like that description of Freddie's hairless chest.
Ahem. Back to the picture ... I like to think the seller is confused and merely thinks that's a young Freddie, and that they're not trying to defraud anyone, but who knows?
MariposaLKB 10-16-2003, 01:12 PM After giving it more thought, I think perhaps the lady to whom the picture was supposedly autographed could be the one trying to defraud someone. After all, how could one check her story about sitting next to Freddie on a plane, more than 25 years ago?
And BTW on closer inspection of the autograph, the last two words of the first line appear to be "as we"--so part of the message is "as we remember Freddie Prinze". Hmmmm....
Cheryl Harrell 10-16-2003, 01:19 PM I noticed the hairy chest & thought Freddies was not hairy LOL! I suspect both the person selling this on EBAY & the person they bought it from were both taken in. I bet this guy was as someone else said on here, trying out for a role in the movie or either was a Freddie impersonator or imitator. Whoever he was he must've been trying to look like Freddie. Close but no cigar... I rember someone on here writing about a pic of Tony Orlando that was being sold on EBAY as a oic of Freddie. The seller honestly got them mixed up. I wonder who this guy is & why he is looking like Freddie????
I wonder what Freddie would've looked like in a tank top. I get the impression he was a pretty modest dresser as he didn't wear stuff like tank tops or stuff that showed off too much skin etc. Yet he still managed to look sexy & classy... :) :)
I also saw the ad had been updated with this new info:
***PLEASE READ***I've received some emails from Freddie fans who strongly doubt this is tthiruely Freddie. I appreciate your advice and concern. However, I felt that the signature looks authentic and resembles other signatures of his that I've seen while researching this. I may have stumbled onto a very rare find or I may have been duped. I've just noticed a detail in the photo that may help determine for certain. His second toe, next to the big toe, is much longer that any other toe. Its a bizarre detail, but it might just be the deciding factor here. Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated. guggi@optonline.net
With this is information in mind ... please bid accordingly.
I showed the pic to my hubbyMike & he agreed it's not Freddie but someone who looks like him. & Bear in mind Mike is legally blind due to undiagnosed diabetes. So when a blind guy notices...
Several things to note about this guy vs Freddie. Freddie did not have a hairy chest & this guy does. Both eyes oin this guy are alike & Freddie had one eye smaller than the other & I've never seen Freddie wear any tank tops,,,,
hue_mee 10-16-2003, 08:28 PM Great detailed look Ladies! I agree. it appears briefly, I mean befiefly as Freddie. But obviously details that have been brought up and the written script. It is not Freddie. Some poor soul must think the buyer is bilnd not to realize it. Thanks for the heads up and the ebay items. There is only one original Prinze as we all know as Freddie!
Cheryl Harrell 10-16-2003, 11:54 PM I wonder who the guy in the pic is? It has me curious...
Cheryl Harrell 10-17-2003, 06:34 AM Here's how our guy would look in that tank top... :) I probably didn't do such a good job of doctoring up the pic but I tried... :)
Cheryl Harrell 10-17-2003, 06:40 AM Here is Freddie and his lookalike...
Somethings I noticed: this guys mustache is different from Freddies, his eyebrows are smaller, his part in his hair is more in the center than to the side & is on the opposite side of Freddies, his mouth is smaller than Freddies...
Cheryl Harrell 10-17-2003, 10:42 PM The seller posted this update on their ad:
***Update 10/ 17/03 Thank you to all the Freddie fans who took the time to write and share your knowledge with me! You've collectively given me enough information to agree with you -
We have a Freddie Prinze Impersonator here!
Who was this guy? What was he doing impersonating Freddie Prinze? Why have 8x10s ready to sign and distribute?
THAT'S A BIG MYSTERY TO ALL.
I am lowering the auction price and now offering this photo as a " Freddie Prinze Impersonator Photo. "If you would like to own this photo and try to solve the mystery, I wish you all the best in your endeavor. Go for it!
I am wondering who this impresonator is & why they were impersonating him? Sounds like the seller of this was duped. I wonder what yr the origional owner of the photo met the impersonator???

Pitooey 10-18-2003, 11:35 AM Cheryl - You do a great job with the photo comparisons. Too bad I can't afford the photo with the frame. :(
Cheryl Harrell 10-18-2003, 03:32 PM Thanks! I probably made Freddie's head to big for the body. That autographed display of Freddie & Jack would be so nice to have but I can't afford it either...
