I've read up on this legend and wondered if anyone else has, and what you think if you have. The Legend of the "Jersey Devil". To sum it up, it's the legend that about 250 (Or maybe 300) years ago, a woman had a whole bunch of children, and the thirteenth one she said something like, "I wish this child a devil!" or something, and it turned out to be very strange. There are MANY variations of the story, some involoving witchcraft. It takes place in the Pine Barrens Forest in New Jersey. Some pieces of an old house have been found and people have claimed to see it. Animals have been killed and sounds have been heard nearby. I first got interested after seeing something about it on TV, and later found a website with the people that were on the show; they call themselves the "Devil Hunters", I think. They said all the stuff on the show was false/stupid, that it was the crew messing with them, and some other stuff. I don't know what to think, really.

I think it's a myth personally. But if you're interested rent the movie "The Last Broadcast" which is based on the Jersey Devil.

I watched the segment on the Scariest Places on Earth show last year, and that was creepy. Poor girl wouldn't even talk about what she saw that night. I'm not sure if it's real or not, but after seeing her reaction, ya never know. I've heard many stories about it though, which has always interested me.

Here's a site I found: http://home.adelphia.net/~leuter/

I saw something about that on television one time. Stuff like that really interests me. I love watching shows about Urban Legends and Myths.

Yeah, that was the show I watched that first piqued my interest. That's the website I was talking about too. She says on that site that all that stuff on the show was fake. She says she didn't really see anything, and the camermen were messing with them.

I heard that legend too- only I heard she sold her soul before it or something- and was told she'd bear satan's child- and the 13th child she had was normal at birth but transformed before her eyes and ran off.

There's also a legend in the UK- I wish I could find more about it- Spring Heeled Jack- in the 1890's there was this demon thing terrorising people- and then it would climb the houses and jump across rooftops- which is a big jump. Some people said it was an alien- some said it had something protecting it's head- like a 'glass bowl'- and wore a weird suit. Anyway- his last appearance was in the early 1900's- a few years before a detective launched a search for the demon (superstitious) or something- and one day, the thing turned up- and hundreds of people reported seeing it- it jumped over rooftops and disappeared- never seen again. Someone made a play about it a while later.
