Maaaaan....I wanna go to Arizona...
Ted Danson to serve memories, drinks at MNA fund-raiser
10/07/2003
The Museum of Northern Arizona touts its latest fund-raiser as a "cheerful" event. It's aptly named for the guest of honor, "Cheers" star Ted Danson.
To help celebrate the museum's 75th anniversary, Danson will step back behind the bar, this time at the Museum of Northern Arizona on Nov. 8. He will share his memories of growing up at the Museum of Northern Arizona, serve drinks and show outtakes from the hit television series "Cheers."
Danson lived on the museum grounds in the 60s while his father, Edward B.
"Ned" Danson, served as the second director of the Museum of Northern Arizona from 1961 to 1975.
Tickets are $75 and include a hot hors d'oeuvre buffet, no-host bar, silent and live auctions and a look at the exhibit, "Treasure of MNA: 75 years of Passion for Discovery."
For those donating $5,000 or more, a private reception with Danson will be held at the Colton House at 4 p.m.
The new exhibit is a collection of items selected by guest curator and research associate Susan Deaver Olberding and the MNA staff. They chose 75 treasures, with stories from the Museum's collections, to tell the institution's multi-faceted history and highlight the science behind them. The exhibit opens to the public Oct. 25.
For more information, call the event hotline at 774-5211 ext. 266 or e-mail cheers@mna.mus.az.us.
