View Full Version : What is the closest you've been to your favorite celebrity?
HuntingtonM15 10-11-2003, 05:38 PM How close have you been to your favorite celebrity? Have you met them, seen them in public, seen a live performance, or just seen them on TV?
Martina McBride is one of my all-time favorite celebrities, and the closest I've been to her was front row at a concert. At one point, I jumped out of my seat and handed her a card and a rose. She actually took something out of my hand! She also said thank you into the microphone. All I could do was just look at her. It was SO MAGICAL!!
Does anyone else have any stories?
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 10-11-2003, 05:55 PM If we're talking my favorite celebrity, about 5 hours away because John Ritter's been in NYC before and that's how far away I live from it.
Other celebrities I've been pretty close to are Jim Belushi who I saw at the State fair performing, and he was like 20 feet away, so that was pretty cool. And, uh, :lookaroun Britney Spears at a concert (keep in mind I was NINE and stupid). That's pretty much it.
MonarC 10-11-2003, 05:57 PM Great Topic!
I was at the Mariah concert in Dallas Texas in August. It was so awesome. I wish I could have been closer but It was really cool. :D
PZelda 10-11-2003, 05:58 PM  You already know my story, but I'm going to tell mine anyway. :king:
A good number of the people here know I adore Vicki Lawrence. She's currently doing a comedy tour, "The Two Woman Show", starring herself and Mama. In May of this year, her tour stopped in the town I lived in at the time (I just recently moved back to my hometown for good, last month) to do two shows. I could only make it to one of her shows, which was on the first night. I had front-row seats, and it was really close to the stage! :D The venue she performed at had a backstage door/stairs next to the stage, and when she came out as Mama for the second half of her show, she walked RIGHT past me- I could have easily touched her from where I was sitting. Her skirt brushed past me! :D
And, then.....I GOT TO MEET HER after her show....I touched her and she touched me! :biglove: :king: :faint: Sigh...she was sooooooooo nice, very laid back and totally down to earth! I love her! :D

Did I ever tell you that when she came out as Mama, she walked passed me and touched my shoulder? It was awesome, but it freaked me out because it was so unexpected!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, too cool!!!!!!!! :biglove:
I got the better end of the deal - I touched her shirt (to touch her) and it was sooooooo soft...She had on a chenille shirt, or however you spell it... :loveya:
I REALLY hope my mom gets front row tickets for us both for when I go see her in January! :D
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that two hours before her first show, she was on the local evening news, and I taped it! She was SO pretty on it- her hair was all messed up and stuff and she was just so cute.

barwars 10-11-2003, 06:59 PM Chevy Chase was on the TV once.
and I was watching
BUT, his movie "Snow Day" (which sucked), was set in my hometown (Syracuse, NY), and the kids (supposedly) went to my highschool. (the letters were HHS, "Henninger High School")

Did you see him this past summer?
TheHappyBurgerMeister 10-11-2003, 08:35 PM I was about 6-8 feet away from Isaac and Taylor Hanson. They were sticking there heads out of the bus window when they were leaving from an outdoor concert they did. All the fans were following them and they were throwing water balloons out the window. I don't know where Zac was- maybe on the other side of the bus. I was a lot farther away from them during the actually concerts. But that's the closest I've been to them. I'm hoping I'll be able to be much closer to them some day, as in personally meet them! :)

Dude! That's my hometown too! Small world.
Anyways, she's not my favorite ever, but I hugged Bianca Marroquin and talked to her for about 5 minutes. My favorite celebrity is... Meredith? Maybe? And I've only seen her on TV. 2 more years...
Mr. Stefani 10-11-2003, 09:01 PM I met Lisa Marie ****ing Presley..so like a few inches away from her. I dont know.
dawsongirl 10-11-2003, 09:54 PM Nowhere close, dammit.
That's Richard, btw.
dawsongirl 10-11-2003, 10:01 PM Okay, well I've figured out that in 91 or 92, Bill Bixby was in Ottumwa, Iowa. I'm a couple hours from there. But of course back then I had no clue who Bill was.
Hmm, a favorite celebrity? I really don't know if I have one.
One of my idols is David Letterman. I've been to see his show a few times, so it was a thrill to be 60 feet away from him for an hour.
Sometimes just knowing you're in the same building with someone you're a big fan of is the coolest thing.
;)
Crimson and Clover 10-11-2003, 10:27 PM I stood at his grave (that would be Elvis)
Living, well I saw Bob Dylan in concert, that was about 10 feet and saw Susan Sarandon in DC, probably about 10 feet also.

Yes, it is! Everytime I go to a concert, before it starts, I always think, "they are in the building right now!" Also, when I saw Tim McGraw last March, I knew Faith Hill was in the building. Even though she didn't perform, it was exciting knowing she was there.

MonarC 10-11-2003, 10:49 PM I went to visit Selena's grave last ThanksGiving. I took pictures of it and everything. It was such a moving experience. It's like I felt her presents but she was there... :crying: I loved Selena so much that when she died I painted "Selena Lives" on the back of my car... RIP Selena..
Then about a year later I met her father and her Husband at the Astrodome in Houston Texas.
I met Eric Idle (from Monty Python) and that was great. My mom had won free tickets from the radio to see him in concert. It was my 18th birthday too :D He was signing autographs afterwards and I got to shake his hand. He wished me a happy birthday and I was so tongue-tied all I could get out was "You're my favorite!" He was charming, he smiled and went "thank you, that's so sweet."
Never came anywhere close to Liza Minnelli, although I had a dream with her and Judy Garland in it - does that count?
dandelion wine 10-11-2003, 11:57 PM I stayed at the same hotel when the Grateful Dead were playing a concert in.. 1990, I believe. As I was walking back into the lobby, they were walking out. And I've met Fred Haise, one of the astronauts from Apollo 13.

Montana Ponine 10-26-2003, 09:34 PM Well....the Hollywood Bowl. I've seen: Patti Lupone, Bernadette Peters (I nearly passed out), Eric McCormack, Kathleen Battle, Randy Newman, James Earl Jones, John Williams.
I saw Vikki Carr and Patty Duke in a production of Follies. A lot of people were in that. Donna McKechnie. Jean Louisa Kelly from Yes Dear was in it also. She has such a sweet voice! I hope she does more stuff on B'way.
The dad on the Brothers Garcia (that show on Nickelodeon, I havent seen it in awhile). I met him once, we were both in this preshow workshop at the Moliere Comedies. He was so nice! Very very sweet person.
Me and my mom were in Hollywood (the Kodak theatre) and my mom goes, "Isn't that the girl from Seinfeld over there?" I didn't see anything, but it probably wasn't Julia Louis-Dreyfus. I dunno.
Oh, yeah. My family was at Vegas one time and we were eating in a small cafe in Mandalay Bay. My mom goes, "Hey, isn't that Kristi Yamaguchi over there?" (Note quote is nearly identical to quote above.) And my dad goes, "Nah, that's not her." Again, I never even saw anything. So we left the cafe and we're walking around and we come across this huge poster that says KRISTI YAMAGUCHI SKATING LIVE TONIGHT and my mom goes, "Hey, that WAS her!" and my dad was like, "Oh." LOL.
