Did you notice how quick the Bradys were to call doctors over for house calls, which costs more?

I could understand when all the kids had the measles not to take them all out to the doctor, but...

When they were supposed to go on Mr. Phillip's boat and Cindy sneezed, they called the doctor over. OK, she needed her tonsils out, but they didn't know that. The doctor ended up coming over three or four times in that episode - a little extreme.

This is the dumbest one. On Marcia's first day of high school, she's nervous, so she says she doesn't feel well. Carol barely questions her, just immediately says "If you're sick, you need a doctor." It should have been like this: "You have a headache? Take an aspirin and go to school." "Your stomach hurts? Take a couple Tums and go to school." HELLO? YOU CAN'T MISS YOUR FIRST DAY OF HIGH SCHOOL! The doctor tells Carol there's nothing wrong with Marcia. Then a light bulb goes on in her head and she says "Doctor, could the first day at a new school cause this?" DUH!!!

oh man that's the stupidest one!! marcia could be fake in many ways-crying and being "sick"

Whatever happened to Mrs. C and the dad from "Dennis the Menace"??? On the measels episode, they made such a big deal about having doctors of the same sex. But when Marcia fakes getting sick on the first day of high school, her doctor is a man. Also, she didn't mind having Dr. Vogel as her dentist.

The dr in the episode where Cindy and Mrs. B get there tonsils out is not Dr. Cameron or Dr. Porter either. He even says to Mr. Brady "You've been through this before" I suppose they could have transferred the records from Dr. Cameron's office. That's the only way this dr would have known.

Back then, it was pretty routine for doctors to make house calls.

They didn't have this monstrous mountain of insurance paperwork, overbooking of patients, or a bunch of people foaming at the mouth to become independantly wealthy via suing him for malpractice. That is a very real problem that doctors face today, but back then they didn't have a problem doing housecalls.

But yeah, I agree that the kids made WAY too big a deal over the doctors being men or women. I mean, who the heck cares?!

I think it's funny that Jan says, "There are TOO men nurses!" and Peter says, "Oh yeah? where?" becuase there are so many male nurses these days---female doctors too, for that matter! ;) My, how times have changed!

barry wilams notes in his book that in the tonsal ep the dr. uesus the same tounge depresser on both carol and cindy last time i saw that ep i notcied that too.

During the measels episode, none of the kids seem very sick. They are out of their beds, playing Monopoly, coloring, and chowing down on hot fudge sundaes. When you have the measels, you are itchy and miserable.

Well, they were miserable when it came to mealtime. Remember how Greg didn't want that "meal fit for a king". He wanted baloney. And one of the other kids wanted gravy, and so on. Even when I was sick (and those kids apparently were not), I don't ever remember my parents serving me meals in bed. In fact, I distinctly remember my mother saying that if I was too sick to come to the table, then I was too sick to eat. But those kids were bossing their parents around during that whole episode, summoning them with bells and other noisemakers, just like servants.

Stupid spoiled Bradys. :lol:

Remember when Cindy asked Carol why she always got peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Carol tells her that they are her favorite. Cindy says, "Oh yeah, I keep forgetting." DUHHHH, Cindy!!!!

That's exactly how Susan Oleson herself felt about how dumb her character was!

The writers were dumb. Susan Olsen was just a kid and read the lines that were written for her. That was her job.

Do doctors actually even do house calls,in real life nowadays? I've never had a doctor over and don't know anyone who has!

They're gone. Unless maybe you live in an area with less than 800 people and the one doctor available knows everybody and will do it.

I rememeber watching the Brady Bunch at a very young age and taking notice to how silly it was that Carol would get so concerned over one sneeze or calling the doctor right away for minor complaints. Shoot, I have sneezed 5 times since typing this out! Honest! LOL.

True but she still thought the way her character was written was far dumber than it needed to be- even back then!

Carol certainly did overreact about sneezing and sniffles. I sneeze every day and I'm not sick.

Now that you mention it,I sneeze ever day too! I think everyone does,maybe?

You're right. They wrote for Cindy like she was a lot dumber and a lot younger than she really was.
