I forgot if the theme song had lyrics or just music...or was there even a theme song at all?

There was no real theme song... it just faded in the show, which was often "FYI," the fake program. They ran the opening credits like CNN and cable news groups did in the 80s and 90s... there was a long line at the bottom, and the name under it in italics (as I recall).

There was a theme at the end, but it was kind of motown-y music with no words.

I suppose the official lyrics would be something like this...

I really wish this show would come to DVD.
