View Full Version : Shows with FOL references...
JohnMcMillin 03-07-2001, 04:41 PM Larry Sanders Show (Scott Thompson's character said something like "Going to Paris and falling in love is so cliche, I mean it happened to the Facts Of Life girls)
The Simpsons (didn't see this one, heard about it tho- can someone elaborate on it?)
Fresh Prince (there was an ongoing joke around the first season that Carlton's first crush was Tootie. Then Kim Fields herself guested on it in 1993)
faith27 03-07-2001, 04:47 PM on "roseanne," dan (the husband) was watching tv w/ the family, and u could hear the FOL theme, and he said, "ya know, this was really like the 'friends' of the 70s." it was funny.
------------------
Blair: Another brilliant idea just popped into my head.
Jo: Oh, don't scare it! It's a lonely place up there.
Franko1998 03-07-2001, 05:39 PM On an episode of "The Golden Girls", Dorothy was upset about something, I forget exactly what, but Rose said, "Dorothy, are you upset because (insert whatever she was upset about)?", & Dorothy sarcastically responded, "No, Rose, I'm upset because they haven't rerun 'The Facts of Life Goes to Australia'."
factsfanatic 03-07-2001, 05:57 PM Another one on the Golden Girls that I saw recently was the episode where the girls hired an African American maid. She was not doing her job, and they had to fire her. Blanche said something along the lines of if it makes you feel any better Tootie was my favorite on The Facts of Life.
Meg07945 03-07-2001, 10:11 PM The Nanny- 3 eps- episode named "The Facts of Lice"<~ more like a parody, Fran trying to suck up to rich people by telling them she went to school with Natalie and Blair, and when CC and Fran get stuck in the basement and Fran goes "This is just like the time Blair and Tootie got caught in that flood".
Charmed- something about the theme song
------------------
~Meg~
*Opportunity does not knock, and then ring the doorbell, and then knock again, and then leave a note that says, "Sorry I missed you" and then call you on the phone.*
"I'm a Jersey Girl, in my Jersey world. Hit the tanning bed, still my skin turns red. I'm a lobster, wanna date a mobster. Scrunchie in my hair, playin' truth or dare. I'm so pretty, I hate New York City!"
FOL-FAN 03-07-2001, 11:31 PM "The Nanny", Fran saying she always wanted to go to Paris since the FOL girls went there.
"The King of Queens", Carry watched the FOL Marathon.
LaverneShirley 03-10-2001, 06:40 PM I don't know if this counts, but when they did a 90 sec. life story on George Clooney on the TV Guide channel, they said he was on FOL for a while, then showed a picture of Tootie and said "I guess Toot-ay liked his boot-ay." Then, when they did the recap they showed pictures while singing the FOL theme song
------------------
"Well, Laverne is sort of childish" -Shirley
"Childish? Childish? Coming from a grown woman who throws tea parties for her stuffed cat!" -Laverne
"Well at least I don't sew L's on everything I wear!" -Shirley
"Well that would be pretty stupid considering your name's Shirley!" -Laverne
Love The Facts Of Life 03-10-2001, 07:12 PM I know this is'nt an exact quote but I was watching 227 the other day on the revenge of the 80s and one of the girls had won a race and was bragging about it and them someone said somthing and the little girl goes "or the agony of da mouth" sound familiar?except for Tottie said "or the agony fo da feet".
------------------
Jo:I don't know you got to admit:Force has some good points.
Blair:Jo's hoping to attend the Chuck Norris School Of Law.
Blair:If I don't spend money soon, well I'll just pull all my hair out.
Jo:Good,we'll finally get to see what color the roots are.
larr118 03-11-2001, 06:27 PM its not exactly a refrence, but i think cartman on south park is a mixture of all the FOL girls
kristy77ct 03-12-2001, 11:01 PM I was watching the Kids From Room 402 the other day and it had a FOL reference. The little boy character is talking to Mindy Cohn's character and he asks her to explain where babies come from. When she says no, he says something like "Who else will teach me the facts of life?", then there's a pause and her character raises an eyebrow.
ThomasE 03-12-2001, 11:47 PM On "Living Single", A date of one of the fellows said that she attended an all girls private school named "Eastland" then Regiene(aka Tootie/Kim Fields)says "Eastland? Never heard it." You get the irony.
FOL-FAN 03-15-2001, 12:36 AM Hey, guess what??? FOL was just mentioned in a Who wants to be a millonare kind of show here in Argentina!!! That's a first! They asked the names of the girls. And the woman answering even got them right. Must have been a closet fan. LOL
BardWar 03-15-2001, 01:23 PM This is not really a reference but it caught my attention this time around...
In A League of Their Own, when they all first get to Harvey Field to try out or whatever, Madonna's character has on a baseball shirt and it says 'Peekskill Parks' or something like that. It was kinda cool.
JoPol_wannabe 03-15-2001, 02:17 PM On an Episode of the Golden Girls Dorathy is upset and Rose replies somthing stupied and Dorathy says no Rose I'm upset because I missed the Facts of Life goes to Paris.
------------------
Blair: No one look now but there are some classy guys beside us
Tootie & Nat: Where where
Blair: I’m never going out with you guys again
Tootie: I bet they like us there stopping
JO: Its a red light
Tootie: Um Blair I think you should see this
JO: What
Nat: Blair’s classy guys are mooning us
Pavan 03-15-2001, 09:03 PM Didn't Married...With Children have an episode when they were singing the theme?

Madness 03-16-2001, 02:11 PM Today on Newhart, Larry died for 10 minutes and came back to life because he was told by a higher power that he was needed there(by the Strattford Inn). The higher power he said was Tootie from the Facts of Life! It was hilarious!
FOL-FAN 03-16-2001, 06:42 PM I don't know if this is exactly a refernce but on TV Bloopers and Practical Jokes they showed baby pictures of Kim, Mindy, Lisa and Nancy and asked who they were. Those baby pictures were really cute! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

FOL-FAN 03-16-2001, 06:58 PM Sorry for the double post. My computer is going nuts!
TALLguyinKY 07-13-2002, 06:28 PM On an episode of "Mama's Family" Mama comes back from her cousin Lootie's funeral, and she's miffed at the rest of the family gettin' ready to go bowlin' instead of havin' gone to the funeral. While Vint, Naomi, and Bubba are tryin' to get out the door, this li'l exchange takes place:
Bubba: "Yeah Grandma, we didn't even know cousin Tootie!"
Mama: "It's cousin Lootie! Tootie was on 'The Facts of Life'!"
I don't know if that's how you spell "Lootie", but I did it that way to add some visual humor. lol
ABlairican Pie 07-13-2002, 06:51 PM The Simpsons had Lisa Simpson having a daydream in about her
future life where her great accomplishment was re-uniting the girls on the Facts Of Life, "even the one hold-out, Tootie"...
The creators of "Married...With Children" have never liked the Facts of Life. In one episode Al was watching his new cable t.v. and got nothing but Facts of Life reruns. He was stewing over the theme song.
Like that's a BAD thing...
I remember watching some of my old episodes I had taped from the USA network and just got the thrill of my life seeing them again two years ago.
Swimfan85 07-13-2002, 11:18 PM there were a few on step by step...one was when Cody was talking to Abe Lincoln...because Al had a project him or something and Cody was like, "what was the low point of the 20th century" and he was like, "cancling of the facts of life"
and another JT was made cuz the tv was broken and cody was like "you have the tootie blues?" or something like that
and there was on the show Clueless, during the episodes where they were going to get uniforms and Amber says something like, "That is so facts of life" or something mentioning tootie..i dunno
Mr. Stefani 07-13-2002, 11:29 PM Another Married w/ Children: Peggy ordered something from a home shopping network, and I think they sent her the wrong thing, and it turned out to be a "Facts of life talking scale".

I remember that episode. The teacher said they were going to get uniforms. Dionne says "That is so Facts of Life". Then
Amber says "You tell e'm Tootie!" Dionne gives Amber an
ugly look.
mapmanmsl 02-12-2003, 08:24 AM I've seen an eppisode of Kevin Smith's cartoon show Clerk's Uncensored when it was on Comedy central and on the very beginning of eppisode 4 of Clerk's, they had a scene where there was a long line leading to a video store near a convenience store that the two clerks Dante and Leonardo both ran, and at the very beginning of the line the video store owner said something like this when he spoke to the third person in line "Hey, aren't you Natalie Green from the Facts Of Life?", and the fat red headed girl just looked down as if she didn't wan't to be recognised.
Rebel Queen 1980 02-13-2003, 11:16 AM In the movie ''Cable Guy'',Jim Carrey's character says
''I learned the facts of life ,'' by watching ''The Facts of Life.''
dlemond 02-13-2003, 12:28 PM On a Scrubs episode, the singing quartet led by Ted the lawyer sing the theme from The Facts of Life (and also Charles in Charge).
Daggoth Urr 02-13-2003, 07:39 PM Heard it once on an eppisode of King of the Hill. See, Dale Gribble bought this device, cant think what it was, it started to play the Facts of Life theme song, and poor ol Dale Gribble thought the FOL theme song was a way for the CIA to watch Dale's every moves, so dale took a hammer and smashed the device to teeny tiny pieces until the song could no longer be heard.
BingAling889 02-25-2003, 10:21 PM This isn't a show, but in the movie SLEEPAWAY CAMP 2: UNHAPPY CAMPERS, some kids are telling stories around the fire, about a girl who murdered a bunch of people a few years before (3 minutes later we learn that she's their counselor), and someone asks "Whatever happened to that Angela girl?"
Someone else answers, "I heard she moved to Hollywood, and she's playing the dark-haired girl on THE FACTS OF LIFE."

I saw this one. Abe said "the cancelation of The Facts of Life. Tootie was a riot."
