Cloris Leachman will be coming back to TV this fall on 'Ellen Again' starring Ellen DeGeneres. She will be playing Ellen's mom. Should be good to see her back on TV in a regular role again.

Great,I really thought she was good on Sunday in that movie.

not to put charlotte down or anything.. but she is a tramendous actor compared to charlotte.. actually.. i didn't say that the right way... what i mean is that cloris has had a tramendous amount of roles compared to charlotte.. she's had A LOT more roles than charlotte... infact cloris is like one of the most known actors (actresses) around.. if you mention her you could name more than 10 things she's been in and people will automatically KNOW who she is.. she hasn't even gotten a lot of credit for the things she does.. but i have to hand it to her, she's sure been doing a lot more acting than charlotte has (at least that i know of) and cloris and charlotte are only like 10 or so days apart age wise... but i think charlottes the other one though...

And Cloris has won an Oscar, too - Best Supporting Actress for "The Last Picture Show" in 1971. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

I will not deny that Cloris Leachman has had many more roles but as far as one defining role Charlotte Rae has her beat. If you ask 10 different people what they most remember Cloris for you would probably get 10 different answers.

TJ, I'd have to say that isn't a bad thing. Cloris has not been type-casted. Since Charlotte is always going to be associated as Mrs. G., I think that has determined the roles she has played since FOL.

Also, I don't know the exact number of Emmys, but Cloris is the only person to ever win an Emmy in 5 different categories, so she has at least 5.

Not to mention that a couple of those Emmys were for her role as Phyllis on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show."

Actually I think Charlotte is a better character actor than Cloris. Sorry if that makes me unpopular. I don't think of just Mrs. Garrett when i think of Charlotte, I also think of the Easy Off Oven cleaner commercials she used to be in, and the show Car 54 Where Are You? She played Shnauser's (sp?) wife in that show. I just like Charlotte better I guess.
