I also love vintage stores. Thrift shops have some great records for real cheap. MonarC 10-09-2003, 03:05 PM yeah and books too... they have everything. I also like to refinish furniture and they always have at least one thing that you can fix up. Mijada 10-09-2003, 06:48 PM I like them. I don't buy clothes there though. I mostly like the ones with antiques and stuff like that. I bought some old books and a couple cameras from the 50's at the one by my house. fr00ti 10-09-2003, 07:04 PM Yeah they have kick ass clothes. Me and my friend Jessica used to go to Goodwill all the time. I have found cool clothes from the 70's and 80's and stuff...:D Crimson and Clover 10-09-2003, 08:29 PM Originally posted by MonarC so what if the clothes have been used before... Yes thrift stores garage sales and flea markets rock! Janice 10-10-2003, 01:12 PM I can understand how people like to buy nice vintage clothes at a good price, but I personally couldn't wear clothes that have been worn before. Even as a teen, I had to buy my own bowling shoes. I don't like to borrow or lend clothes to friends although I make exceptions. Nobody can eat off my plate or sip from my drink either. It's just the way I am. KnightFalls 10-10-2003, 01:14 PM I kind of felt that way but I figure I eat off of very used plates at restaurants so what the heck ;) Janice 10-10-2003, 01:19 PM Originally posted by KnightFalls I kind of felt that way but I figure I eat off of very used plates at restaurants so what the heck ;) Those plates have been cleaned and sanitized with scalding hot water as opposed to wearing clothes and shoes that God only knows who wore them. MonarC 10-10-2003, 03:05 PM  anyway for those of ys who don't mind being in other peoples clothes. I think it rocks it's not like we are gonna catch aids or some deadly germ from the clothes. They can also be washed in bleach and or hot water with a strong soap. Mr. Stefani 10-10-2003, 03:23 PM Originally posted by Janice Those plates have been cleaned and sanitized with scalding hot water Depends on where you are eating:lol: *InThisMoment* 10-10-2003, 03:28 PM Originally posted by Nirvana Depends on where you are eating:lol:  MonarC 10-10-2003, 03:31 PM yeah really  Janice 10-10-2003, 03:47 PM Originally posted by MonarC  anyway for those of ys who don't mind being in other peoples clothes. You posted a poll question, and I gave my opinion. I never said anything about catching aids or deadly germs. Your words, not mine. I just don't want to wear clothes that were worn by strangers. I'm sure I'm not the only person that feels this way. MonarC 10-10-2003, 04:08 PM i rolled my eyes cause I think it's ridiculous... HuntingtonM15 10-10-2003, 04:17 PM Originally posted by Nirvana Depends on where you are eating:lol: That's so true. My cousin used to work at this restaurant (a good quality one) and they never washed the dishes very well. They also used to keep the bread in a drawer for a couple days and serve it like that. Crimson and Clover 10-10-2003, 05:35 PM I got 6 records today for 7$. And a book for 50¢. Crimson and Clover 10-10-2003, 05:37 PM Originally posted by HuntingtonM15 That's so true. Yep the place I used to work at didnt wash the dishes very well. Plus the servers smoked back there. MonarC 10-10-2003, 05:47 PM  yeah nothing is ever clean. Unless you go to a really fancy restaurant. But even then the bathrooms will be dirty or the won't wash their hands... Kay Scarpetta 10-10-2003, 07:08 PM Originally posted by MonarC i rolled my eyes cause I think it's ridiculous... Well then apparently you find me ridiculous too. I'm sorry, but that's the way I am. I'll let people eat/drink from me occasionally, but even that gets to me after a while. I really don't appreciate other people's saliva in my food, on my fork, or floating around in my drink, thanks. That's how I've caught Mono four times in the past. And about the clothes, well, there's no explination for me. I just don't like it. It bugs me even trying on clothes in the store. *Pleasant Tomorrow* 10-10-2003, 07:13 PM I don't shop there, but we have one here. The Salvation Army. Hollow 10-10-2003, 07:54 PM i dont even know what a thrift shop is. but we have a grocery store called thriftee :D dandelion wine 10-10-2003, 11:22 PM Thrift shops are where you can find some of the best stuff, and I love 'em! A lot of it is garbage, but there is also some great finds. ~*Hannah_Lee*~ 10-14-2003, 12:57 AM Originally posted by Janice I just don't want to wear clothes that were worn by strangers. I'm sure I'm not the only person that feels this way. I've never been to a thrift store, but I have wanted to go to one to look around. I agree with you, though, Janice. I would have a hard time wearing clothes that I didnt know who they came from. I would have to scald them with boiling hot water and soap myself before I'd wear them. It's just the thought of where they've been that would bother me. I totally see where you're coming from. Lady T 10-14-2003, 12:57 AM I love Thirfts shops..you always find the coolest stuff, honestly I buy like 90% of my clothes at Thirts/Resale shops and a large collection of very cute vintage clothes MonarC 10-14-2003, 10:51 PM sometimes you find really great deals... like the other day I was thrift shoping with my mom in law and she found some brand new boots from Neiman Marcus for only $5  they were brand new and only $5 did I say that already... :D:D:D I got a cool sweater. |
