Is the first episode (I think) there was a story about a guy who drove his Chevy Blazer out west, and disapeared into the prairie. The police found the vehicle idling, and tracks that went off into the snow. His remains were found by hunters years later, but I remember some weird circumstances. At any rate, his mother suspected foul play.
Does anyone remember his name? Thanks in advance.

I think I remember the case you're talking about and yes, it was shown on one of the very first UM episodes. This man left his home in New York and traveled out west to research a book he was writing on Abraham Lincoln. On the day he disappeared, he visited a museum but accidentally left his briefcase behind. A few hours later, he called the museum and told them he was going to come back for the briefcase but never did. There were several weird elements to this case. One of his friends swore he called her and left a message on her answering machine after he went missing. Authorities were able to trace the phonecall to a home in the area where the man had gone missing but the homeowner refused to cooperate with police and left town a short time later. There were also sightings of the missing man that police say were credible. And, if I remember correctly, the man's body was found in an area that had already been searched by police when he first disappeared...leaving them to wonder if the killer had come back and placed the body there several months after the fact. This to me was one of the most interesting cases ever profiled on UM and I have often wondered if there was an update.

This case sounds fascinating. Do you happen to remember what year it aired?

This is one of the very first segments I saw on UM and it may have been on one of the special episodes...before NBC picked it up as a regular series. I read the synopsis for each of the specials, and I believe it might be Special #1 from January of '87. Are these specials ever included in the Lifetime reruns? I've never seen any of them repeated but it would be great if they could be shown again.

Nope... Lifetime only aired the specials that Robert Stack hosted(the Dave Davis one is the only one I think)
