That has changed in the past few years, though.

You used to be able to watch a program on Nick At Nite and know that you were getting something that hasn't gone through the editing bay; at least not as much as syndicated versions of their shows do. Nick at Nite used to care more about the content of their shows than the amount of commercials they can cram into a half-hour time slot. Not anymore, though.

Now all you get is shortened themes, time compression, cut lines; etc. Nick At Nite used to be something special. Now it just isn't worth it.

Thank goodness for DVD.

Nick at Nite used to be so cool about 10 or 15 years ago. They used to show rare shows like "Donna Reed" and "My Three Sons". It was a great way to escape from life's pressures. They also used to have great commercials such as "How to Be Swell" and "Milkman". Now, they show "Roseanne" and "Cosby", which have already been aired millions of times.

There was a commercial years ago on N@N, where a family was sitting on their couch watching TV. It was done in Black and White and made to look like they were from the fifties. The dad said "Network reruns sure do smell the second time around." Funny though, since that's what they're showing now. Everything else in my life has changed, why couldn't N@N stay the same? I want "Donna Reed" not "Roseanne". I want "Make Room for Daddy" not "The Cosby Show". I want "My Three Sons" not "Full House". I want "Car 54, Where Are You?" not "Cheers". I want a great channel ... not N@N.

I loved those commercials, especially the Milkman commercials! I remember the one where the Milkman helped out the fat guy by teaching him magic, and the one where the girl was crying because she didn't go to her prom, what, ten years before and it turned out the guy was still waiting at a house down the street since he went to the wrong house. I also loved that commercial about how you could avoid unwanted relatives. They just don't make Nick at Nite commercials like they used to. :(
