Hi all. I am a high school physics teacher, but run a 70's sitcom appreciation society after school once a week with some of the kids. I really would like to find a couple Chico and the Man episodes, but it seems that they haven't gotten the dvd time-life treatment that other 70's sitcoms have for some reason. Does anyone have any copies on vhs that they might be willing to sell? Maybe some particularly funny episodes would be great.

Thanks!
-Jamison

If this means you will introduce Freddie Prinze Sr. to a new generation, please allow me to help you do that. Please email me at chicoprinze22@hotmail.com and I will be more than happy to copy a couple shows for you.

Macca, thank you so much - I will definitely take you up on your offer. I teach at a Friends school outside of Philadelphia and run my afterschool early 70's sitcom activity every tuesday. The first couple of weeks so far, I've mainly showed them some of my favorite sanford & son episodes. I like how some of them have a moral lesson and I started off showing the episode where fred sanford learns some understanding and toleration of his new neighbor Julio. The school has a data projector that allows me to project any dvd/vcr stuff on a large screen which is pretty neat. I guess I feel that particular sitcoms from that period of time have real soul to them as opposed to some of the cynical and self-aware stuff on the tv nowadays for younger folks.

Someone early-on mentioned including Chico and the Man in my activity - the fact is, I have never seen an episode myself. I listened to the theme music on this website from Feliciano (who I've always liked anyway) and thought it was really beautiful. If that is any indication of what to expect from the show itself, I am really excited. Reading some of the passionate descriptions of the show from some of you, I suspect we won't be disappointed.

Thanks for your help,
Jamison

Hi Jamison,
It's my pleasure to help out. Please promise you will post here often and let us know how the kids like CATM. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how endearing he is. Maybe some of the kids would like to post some of thier own reactions right here on the board and have questions about Freddie Prinze. I bet everyone here would love that. Just a thought!

Welcome aboard Jamison! If you want to kind of get a feel for Chico, since you haven't seen a show, PLEASE go back a few pages on this message board. A couple ladies have put together thread with video captures and dialogue from at least a couple of shows and if you ask real nicely, they may try another! ;) It will at least help you get some sense of how the show looked and the crazy situations that Chico and Ed would get in and out of. Enjoy!
