hey guys, I'd appreciate your help here. My prof wants us to define the difference between camp films and cult films... I'll be honest, I don't know :) Anyone?

Hi Liza, maybe I can help you out a little bit. :)

Cult films: They're the ones that don't do very well at the box office, but over the years, they've developed a huge following. An example that comes to mind is The Wicker Man, or The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Campy films: They're not the best movies ever made, and they tend to be a little on the cheesy side, but people love 'em. Valley of the Dolls could be an example, or Beyond the Valley of the Dolls.

Camp films are comedies, light comedies you knoiw, he's very "camp" a british term...

Cult films, linger. They find a nich with a community, hit a chord, usually of pop culture, and it has staying power... Rocky Horror Picture Show, drag queens, make-up etc... Glitter, Night of the Zombies, Ed Wood, etc...
