View Full Version : Quentin Tarantino drunk on Jay Leno
Janice 09-30-2003, 12:37 AM Did anyone see this? He was on tonight promoting his new movie, Kill Bill, and he was loaded. I'm not talking a little buzzed. He was sloshed...repeating himself...bloodshot eyes....acting obnoxious.
Jay finally asked him if he was drinking, and he said he was. Jay was making jokes, saying don't light a match near his breath, and Jay kept waving his hands in front of him to get rid of Quentin's booze breath.
I'm not knocking Tarantino, but I don't recall ever seeing anyone so drunk on a talk show.
wow. I gotta see that ;) Know if it's gonna be on again?
dandelion wine 09-30-2003, 01:37 AM I was going to flip it over to Leno earlier, but changed my mind. Now I wish I'd seen that!

He's a writer and director, probably best-known for a tiny film called "Pulp Fiction." He's also an actor.

Thanks!!
Well, you cant blame them for getting drunk.. they serve them alcohol to relax!
Janice 09-30-2003, 04:09 PM The thing is, I didn't find it funny, and not because he was drunk. If he were a comedian or a naturally funny guy, the alcohol would have only made him funnier.
In Tarantino's case, he's not a comedian, and he came off as obnoxious. Kevin Bacon was the first guest and seated next to him, and he had that WTF look on his face.
He said he was drinking, and then hit the mini-bar in the Green Room.
I was embarrassed for Quentin. Maybe others will find it funny, but I found it awkward.

Tom Greene was pretty hammered awhile back on Jay Leno. Not only was he drunk, but he was actually drinking (he had a bottle of rum in his hand) on the show.
DianeChambers87 09-30-2003, 08:37 PM The entire Cheers cast went on Jay Leno Trashed back in 1993 after the Cheers series finale.

It's pretty safe to say that highlights of that episode will never make it to Leno's next Anniversary special.
In Carson's day, quite a few guests were tipsy when they appeared on the show. Ed McMahon was pretty plastered one night. Man was that funny.
Hi-yo!
;)

That's what Quentin Tarantino told Jay....he said he was bringing back the old Johnny Carson days. He used Oliver Reed as an example of a Carson guest who would show up drunk.

Quenton Tarantino Visits 'Tonight' Show
NEW YORK (AP) - Filmmaker Quentin Tarantino appeared to take advantage of the open bar backstage at Jay Leno's "Tonight" show on Monday.
Leno joked, "don't light a match in here," in the midst of Tarantino's rambling, occasionally incoherent, guest shot. Tarantino was on the show to promote his new movie, "Kill Bill: Vol. 1," set for release Oct. 10.
Before getting to the film clip, their discussion included references to Leno's old curly haircut, Elvis Presley's rockabilly years and a "Golden Girls" audition.
"Have you been drinking tonight?" Leno asked.
Tarantino responded that he thought he'd bring back the spirit of Johnny Carson's "Tonight" show. "You have an open bar backstage," he reminded Leno.
His appearance ended shortly after an impatient Leno introduced a film clip. There will be no repercussions from the incident, "Tonight" show spokeswoman Carrie Simons said Tuesday.
Last year, comedian Tom Green got progressively drunk on a "Tonight" show appearance, an experiment that appeared to grow quickly out of control.
Jimmy Kimmel's ABC late-night show closed a bar that had served drinks to audience members after a boisterous first show, that included one audience member vomiting and guest George Clooney passing around a bottle of vodka.

Darkweaver 10-08-2003, 12:14 AM Har. Tarantino's been on a role lately. Did anyone here what he had to say about The Matrix Reloaded in Empire Magazine recently (it wasn't nice) and his controversy with Disney/Miramax after he said parents should take their children to see Kill Bill. Heh.
