Ewan's My Man 09-27-2003, 02:24 AM What's a book that you could read OVER and OVER and OVER again?
Mine...would haveta be my Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban book.
That is one of my most prized possessions actually. I mean, I LOVE the book, it's the best one outta the 5...and EVERYTIME I read it, I love it more and more...but it's one of my prized possessions b/c 1.) My dad gave it to me in 4-5th grade as a gift one night. I remember it perfectly...I just got it out of the library...and the hold lists were ridiculously long...and NEwayz...I came home and I'm like, "I GOT THE THIRD HARRY POTTER BOOK!" and my dad says, "I just bought that for you today!" He had bought Jane (from Tarzan) Barbie dolls for my sisters...and that for me, and he wrote a message in it, and he was gonna put it on my pillow. 2.) My Ewan McGregor autograph is the bookmark...hehehe...I really hope that autograph is authentic.
So does NE1 else have NE books they are obsessed with or am I just a freak of nature?

I would be embarassed to admit how many times I've read it over the years. It's the first book in a ten volume series about alternate universes. It was kind of a life changing experience.
I love the book "Daddy Long Legs" by Jean Webster (great niece of Mark Twain). An obscure book from 1912 that I just love. I've read it like 20 times and own 5 copies of it
Also love:
"Northanger Abbey" by Jane Austen
"Rebecca: by Daphne DuMaurier
"Alice Through the Looking Glass" by Lewis Carroll
Crimson and Clover 09-27-2003, 03:19 AM Helter Skelter. Ive read it a number of times.
AnaheimPMWitch 09-27-2003, 03:26 AM i've got a few
I LOVE Practical magic by Alice Hoffman its MUCH better then the movie and goes into more Detail
and currently I'm HOOKED on the CSI books (even if theres WAY TO MUCH Grissom/Saraness in there ITS SUPPOSED TO BE Nick AND SARA DANG IT okay i'm fine now REALLY) Anyways the books are great if you love the show I suggest reading the books as well
webuster 09-27-2003, 06:15 AM I liked 'Through the Looking Glass' as well, but 'Adventures in Wonderland' was nowhere near as good.
Ellen's first book is great (her second is out next month) and when I was about 7 or 8 I read RL Stines Fear Street Series, I read the 'Who's Been Sleeping in My Grave' about 8 times, and I read the 'Night of the Living Dummy' series about 4 times (even when a new 'Night of the Living Dummy' comes out I still but them, just to see where the story goes).

His earlier works are amazing. The only later works of his that come to mind as really great are "The Green Mile" and "The Girl who loved Tom Gordon."

I've never read The Girl who loved Tom Gordon, but I've seen it at the book store several times. Just never bothered to pick it up. Guess I will now!
I've read Night Shift so many times, I've lost count.

I have so many favorite books that I want to read over and over again, but I'm so busy and I have all these other books I want to read. I've been meaning to read the Patricia Cornwell books ever since Karli became obsessed with the them and talked about them non-stop, but have yet to. lol...

I've read Night Shift so many times, I've lost count. The Girl who loved Tom Gordon is great - but it is different from a lot of his books, plus its short enough to read in an afternoon

That's what a friend of mine said. I'm willing to read just about anything the man writes, so I'm going to pick that one up.

"Firestarter" was a totally awesome book. The movie made from it was good, but the book was outstanding.
Blair85 09-29-2003, 10:28 PM My fave book is Salem's Lot by Stephen King. I just recently started reading again. Actually, Icouldn't find any books I liked b/c I hate books about mushy crap and those kind of books with Fabio on the cover. I'd rather read something that tells a good story.

I just got that. My mom suggested for me to read The Shining...b/c I wanted a good book and she also said to read Karrie...Carrie...however it's spelled. And I was looking at them and I saw Salem's Lot and I thought that looked good too...and then I found a 3 in 1 book of The Shing, Karrie, and Salem's Lot.
fr00ti 10-01-2003, 11:12 PM Well I used to read that Goosebumps book called "Deep Trouble" over and over again. I loved that book.

I haven't read The Shining yet. I really liked Salem's Lot, it was pretty creepy. I thought it was very well-written too. Not too long ago, I read Carrie and it was really good too. I just finished reading The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon (one of my faves) and now I'm reading "It".

Salem's Lot is a great book. That sucker still scares me if I pick it up late at night.

The Thorn Birds, by Colleen McCullough
I got that book for my mom's birthday last year. Although I've never read it, the miniseries was AWESOME. No, no..."awesome" doesn't do it JUSTICE! I loved it so much, so I can only imagine what the book is like!
My favorite book is "The Giver". I don't know how popular it is, but it's absolutely phenomenal! If you're looking for a real deep and passionate read...go for this one!
I also like "Holes" a lot. Did any of you read that one?
Later.

I don't believe I've ever read Holes or The Giver, but they both sound really good. Now, as for The Thorn Birds? That's one of the best books I've ever had the pleasure to read. The mini-series is my favorite, and I agree with you there. If you thought that was good, I'd recommend the book. You won't want to put it down. :)

I'd have to say my favorite book of all time is Gone With the Wind. Of newer ones, I would say that my favorite that is more recent is "Underneath it All" by Traci Lords. It really was interesting to hear about her career in the porn industry and I really feel sorry for her.

I had to read Holes for school and it was STILL really great. You're left wondering what's going to happen until the last page. It's awesome!
I had to read The Giver for school, too. This one's more of a "profound" book, I guess. It's about this kid who lives in this extremely structured community...almost like another planet! I won't say too much about it except that it's the best book I've ever read. Now, I haven't read any of the classics because I'm only in the 8th grade, but even my PARENTS said it was fantastic!
