Why do most women like in Threes Company and other 70 sitcoms where pantyhose with shorts. I was just wonderin..I didn't know if it was just the style or what.

Because it makes them look hot, and bare skin is usually not thought to be appropriate to show.

Did they have tanning beds in the 70's? Maybe they wanted their legs to look tan. Or maybe women just didn't feel comfortable about showing bare legs back then.

Joyce DeWitt did commercials for Leggs panty hose. Maybe they gave her free samples.

Compared to now, people were still a little more conservative and it manifested itself as total weirdness. Many women wore pantyhose even with short shorts, because it was just more appropriate. It was like you could wear something really skimpy, but not feel over exposed. Not wearing them was something that many ladies considered trashy and undignified.
