What a terrible show. i didn't think NBC could do any worse than Good Morning Miami or Stark Raving Mad, but they sure proved me wrong last night. Just awful lol

I have not seen much of the British series (https://web.archive.org/web/20140405003316/http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com/topic/2038555-coupling-uk/?view=getnewpost) myself, but many U.S. critics did – and they found this show (https://web.archive.org/web/20061031125709/http://www.jumptheshark.com/c/coupling.htm) lacking in comparison, savaging it with bad reviews that would feel familiar a year and a half later to The Office, which also got judged harshly at first as a pale imitation of its inspiration. But Coupling is no Office, for it doesn’t have strong bones. Specifically, it’s interested in a messy ensemble dynamic with characters who have complicated relationships – exes, hookups, etc. – but none of them are actually well-defined as individuals with clear personalities and specifics about them that can be used in story beyond these rom-com shenanigans.
