I know the consensus.among those who monitor "shark jumping", is that the Brady Bunch jumped the shark with the addition of Cousin Oliver. I have been watching the episodes with him in them, and they aren't bad. Cousin Oliver was a cute little kid. Also, he wasn't made "The New Star" of the show. He was just added as a cast member to the show. Often times when a new cast member is added, every new plot revolves around them. That wasn't the case with the Bradys. Do others who visit this board like or loathe Cousin Oliver?

I'm like you in that regard, magellan333. I don't mind the presence of Cousin Oliver on The Brady Bunch one bit!

Oliver was only on the last six episodes, so his presence was no big deal. He wasn't like Chachi, who came in the middle of the run and never left.

Oliver was annoying. They could have done without him.

Oliver didn't bother me. He was all right. I'm glad the whole show didn't revolve around him though.

I think the reason why nobody likes Oliver is because of the fact he was only on 6 episodes. Oliver was never given a chance to evolve. Think about it, If Steve Urkel was only in 6 episodes of Family Matters, I don't think anyone would be too crazy about him either.

I love Oliver! Some of the funniest Brady Bunch moments involve Oliver, in my opinion that is. :)

I love when he tells Bobby, "I can make nothing DOING nothing." For some reason that just cracks me up!

Also it's funny when Oliver tells the gentleman he's trying to sell hair tonic to, "I'm just a little boy."

Hey Elizabeth B, those are funny lines that Oliver said in the "Hair Brained Sceme", of course the funniest line Oliver said in the episode was when he said "You no something Cindy, I think your mom has trouble discussing the world sex".

I think this is the first (and last) time the word "sex" was used on the Brady Bunch.

It's been nearly 12 years since anyone posted, great article though but it deserves it's own thread.

I think it was also Robbie Rist's portrayal as "Booger" on the Revenge of the Nerds TV pilot that may have been blamed for the scrappage of the series for a proper season. Booger, as you know, was portrayed by Curtis Armstrong in the two theatricals and the two made-for-TV movie specials.

Yeah, the plots basically stunk and it wasn't about Oliver, it was just crappy scripts. They did jump the shark.

It's huge misnomer to blame Cousin Oliver for the demise of the Brady Bunch. In my opinion the show was already on it's last legs when he arrived on the scene. The kids had grown up and the writers had run out of story ideas.
