Which did you prefer - Season 4 or 5? - the last to feature Larry Linville as Frank Burns.

of course Season 5 was the last season to show burns, I'm beginning to think that Season 3 was the last season to show Frank's full potential in being snooty.

Season 5 was really tough on Frank.
Margaret got engaged and dumped him, so he really had no one on his side anymore. Plus some of his antics really pushed him over the edge. Holding his gun on Hawkeye, BJ, and Potter in "Margaret's Engagement?" Frank was no longer the nerd that Hawkeye goofed on, he was just sad.

At least with season four, him and Hotlips were still together, and some of their scenes are the funniest in the show, so I'll have to say season 4.

After viewing both seasons on DVD, I'm gonna go with Season 5. I liked season 4 too, but 5 just a little but more.

give me time, i just finished season three.
i would be caught up but see, i got robbed in the summer. my dvd's were part of what was missing. so i have had to reacquire my dvd's so i am rewatching the first two seasons and 1/3 of season 3 over again. so after season two of sanford and son, i will begin with season 4.

I just didn't like Frank because he had no personality but I liked Winchester because though snobby, he had a personality!!

Season four was also Larry Gelbart's final bow as series creator, producer and head writer. M*A*S*H has never been the same since.

There were some good seasons ahead, but the satiric bite of Gelbart was sorely missed by me.
