In the first season, I noticed....the show was kind of pg rated you know? There were come ons, some discussions about sex but it was mostly spread out through the episodes. But in the second season and all the way to the last season....episodes started focusing on sex more. I really believe that Cheers was ahead of it's time, I mean I do love the 80s but tv was still pretty prudish back then. They would only make references to sex. But in Cheers un-married people started sleeping with each other, which is not a big deal now, but I'm pretty sure it was back then. That's why I say that it was ahead of it's time...although the 80s were the perfect setting for it. If they would have done the 11 seasons and recorded it and then 10 years after it ended aired it opposite friends I bet you it would still get monster ratings.

I agree that Cheers was way ahead of it's time. Maybe you can even say a pioneer is sexual situational comedies.

I was just thinking how it did Pioneer for for those types of comedies....I mean not even threes company had the sexual freedom....you know what I mean? Even though they all did live together...nothing happened ....to ANYBODY lol....I can't really think of another comedy from the 80s or 70s that was that free....maybe the Golden Girls...but still it wasn't to the level it was with Cheers. Plus Cheers Came out a couple of years before the Golden GIrls.
