With the passing of Gordon Jump there seems to be a renewed interest in WKRP in Cincinatti.
(posts on the boards up, ebay items up, dvd vote is up)
Please go to www.tvshowsondvd.com and vote for WKRP .
(you have to join, its free and takes a minute, plus you can vote for your other favorite shows).
If we ever get WKRP on dvd, it is sad to think that we will have no commentary from Gordon.
In his memory, I would hope that Fox will try their best to get this outstanding show out to the public.

I've voted for WKRP in Cincinnati at TVShowsOnDVD.com (http://www.tvshowsondvd.com) and now that Gordon Jump has passed away I would like to see Fox add WKRP in Cincinnati to their DVD poll that they're currently running or otherwise it would be nice of them to release the series on DVD to commemorate Gordon's death.
The problem with releasing the show on DVD is that it would cost Fox hundreds of millions of dollars to get licensing rights to the songs used throughout the series. I've read -- and I don't remember where -- a rep from fox stating that because of this, WKRP on DVD is out of the question. Sad.

You are right about the problem with the music rights.
But they have the same problem with shows like The Wonder Years, Roswell, and Freaks and Geeks (you should see the list of songs on one season of that show - http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?s=&threadid=75126 )
But Roswell and Freaks and Geeks are coming to dvd, so they had to pay for them!
And Fox did a poll that included The Wonder Years- a show FULL of songs, so they are contemplating that show.
So why on earth would it cost more for WKRP than these shows that I mentioned? I checked the amount of songs and titles of the songs for these shows and there is NO WAY that WKRP could possibly cost more.

Interesting, I never heard of the song rights issue before.

my "american graffiti" and "blues brothers"
dvds have all original music in them.
to the best of my knowledge "happy days" and "laverne and shirley" have all original music in them.
in my opinion theres no reason why fox can't release all 90 episodes of wkrp in cincinnati on dvd with original music even if it costs more.
it would be a big seller!
and like DLEMOND said "freaks and geeks" is being released on dvd with all original music.
so why not "wkrp in cincinnati"?
it would be a bigger seller than freaks and geeks.

Actually, you can only vote once.
The number is still the same.
Some people went crazy and signed up other names just to vote for Boy Meets World, and the site took down the show as an option because of that.
(regardless, it's now coming to dvd).
So, please no one sign up more than once.
