View Full Version : Potsie was too old

I think a younger actor should have played the part of Potsie. Anson Williams was 24 when the show premired, and playing the part of a 17 year old. I think that's a little unrealistic. Especially since he, Richie and Ralph remained 17 for the next 3 years. By the time Richie and Ralph left you could tell just by looking at him, he was in his 30's. What does everyone else think?

They were all older then the characters they played. Henry Winkler was in his 30's when he was playing Fonzie.

Hollywood has a habit of doing that though - its actually MORE common for an actor to be older than the character he plays. With all the make-up and stuff they use, its not that obvious, and some people look alot younger than they are - i frequently get mistaken for being quite a bit younger than i really am.

But what's really important is that Anson Williams WAS Potsie - a great character that was loved by tons of fans; nobody could have replaced him in that regard.

Yeah, makeup is awesome. You can use it to make you look both older AND younger!

I think anson was perfect for the part.
Besides, they were all too old. Henry was 27 when he got the part of fonzie
Theres nothing wrong with that

A whole different cast would have been a whole different show, and one could suspect it wouldnt have been nearly as great

I don't think it's very unrealistic. He didn't look that much older and he was great for the part. Thad Luckinbill from Young and the Restless is 28 and his character is supposed to be like 19. He doesn't look that old so it doesn't really matter.
