Raven Moves Up in Teen Queen Derby
Watch out, another teen queen is moving up fast. Raven, formerly the "Cosby Show" kid known as Raven Symone -- and currently known as the Disney Channel's reigning It Girl since the departure of Hilary Duff -- has closed deals for not one, but two features. She tells us she may shoot them back-to-back during her series' seasonal hiatus some six weeks from now.
"All American Girl" will have the gifted 17-year-old comedienne playing a teen that saves the President of the United States from a freak accident and becomes a national hero overnight, much to her bemusement.
Raven's also set to star in a remake of the musical "Sparkle."
And "I've just signed with Buena Vista Records, and I'm collecting songs right now to do my third album. There's also going to be a soundtrack album for 'That's So Raven,'" she says.
"Disney is has been very, very good to me, all the way through, in all sections of the company. The synergy there is beautiful," comments the show business veteran.
She got into the "All American Girl" mindset recently when she sang at a White House T-Ball event, and enjoyed chatting it up with the President and First Lady. "They were wonderful and so warm," she says. "I was like, 'Let me take some notes real quick.'"
She insists she doesn't feel undue pressure with it all. 'Before this show, I was on 'Hangin' With Mr. Cooper,' and I'd tape Friday, then go out on tour Saturdays and Sundays. From age seven to 11, I was doing that each year. I've had a very busy life my entire life, and it's been a good and healthy life."
How about time for a boyfriend?
"That's personal," she says, laughing.
(Not sure if anyone seen this..)
