BECK/SMITH CELEBRITY GOSSIP
CELEB INSIDER: Raven's Surprising Aspirations
It's widely known that Raven of "That's So Raven" is a gifted comic actress who can sing -- but her educational aspirations may come as a surprise to fans.
Although September isn't usually a month equated with caps and gowns, the home-schooled star tells us "I just graduated" -- meaning she just wrapped up her senior year of high school course work last week, and is expecting her diploma soon. Now she plans to take a breather on studying. And after that?
"I'll go to the Culinary Institute of America," she reveals, "and then, my dream is to go on to the Cordon Bleu in France."
So the one-time Cosby kid, formerly known as Raven Symone, moonlights as an amateur chef?
"I love to cook Christmas and Thankgsiving dinner for my family," she says. "When I cook I like to have my time and make everything perfect."
Fans of her show shouldn't worry, though. At the moment, "Raven" is at the forefront of her mind. Raven even says she takes the time to read viewer comments. "I look at all the websites. I love reading feedback. I feel very honored that they're watching my show, and I read some of the criticism as well. Hey, you know what, that's cool. We take 'em and think about them."
She's happy that she and her TV alter ego are considered role models, and that "That's So Raven" is enthusiastic about believing in one's self, achieving goals, staying in school...culinary or otherwise.
Syndicated columnists Marilyn Beck and Stacy Jenel Smith are featured on E!Online under the daily "Ask Marilyn" column and in monthly celebrity profiles and industry features.
