I don't understand. I heard season 1 will be released on DVD next spring.

It was suppose to originally, but due to the death of John Ritter they moved it up to November 11. You can pre-order it today and save money since when Nov 11 comes around it'll cost more. John was suppose to do the extras for the DVD in a few weeks too, now season 1 won't have any extras.
As for the stores, I'm sure it'll be in stores. But buying it online will be easier since you will find it for sure. I suggest everyone to pre-order it ASAP before it sells out, I'm sure it'll be a hit.

Is this some sort of budget compilation of the first season? I've seen other TV shows crop up for ultra low prices in bargain bins, such as "The Beverly Hillbillies."
It's disappointing that there will be absolutely no extras, though.

They had lots of extras planned for this season set. Now they won't be in them until they release season 2 in early 2004. Of course one big extra will be missing, John Ritter's interviews :(
nightc1 09-22-2003, 09:42 AM Great deal! Considering the MSRP is $19.99 (which makes each episode just over $3 a pop, considering there's only 6 episodes in the first season)... this deal though chimes in at nearly $2 an episode (which still isn't fantastic considering Sanford & Son Season 2 ended up near $1 an episode).
Not sure if I'll order from that site or just wait and see if the local Walmart get's it in. Tough call.
dlemond 09-24-2003, 01:34 PM Any artwork for the DVD yet?
I've checked some sites and none have a picture posted as of now.
Josh9125 09-24-2003, 05:37 PM I'm so excited for it!

Why wouldn't you want a FULL LENGTH episode? N@N eps are CUT to fit in mre commercials. These episodes on the DVD are the full length 25 mn eps as they aired on ABC. You need to rethink that.
barwars 09-27-2003, 10:12 AM Three's Company on DVD, will be great!
25 minutes each??
Thats almost 5 extra minutes on each episode.
Im not going to order it online though, Ill pick it up at Best Buy on the 11th.

exactly, opening and closing credits have nothing to do with the episode.
barwars 09-28-2003, 08:56 AM Well, the on the DVD, they're part of the 25 minutes.
Its not 25 minutes of the episode + opening and ending credits.
So maybe it should count....

Come and Knock on Our Door... We've Been Waiting for You!
- Anchor Bay Entertainment Releases Three's Company Season One on DVD
- Proceeds From the Sale of the DVD to be Donated to a Charity Very Close to John Ritter, United Cerebral Palsy
TROY, Mich., Oct. 2 -- Anchor Bay Entertainment brings Jack, Janet, Chrissy, Larry and the Ropers to your living room on November 11, 2003. The DVD will contain all episodes, including the pilot, from season one with a suggested retail price of $19.98.
"In response to considerable retailer and consumer demand, we've accelerated the plans for the release of Three's Company Season One," commented David Vasile, president of Anchor Bay Entertainment. "We plan to donate a portion of the proceeds to United Cerebral Palsy in memory of John Ritter who was closely involved with UCP since the late '70s."
For more than 15 years, John Ritter was involved with United Cerebral Palsy as host of the annual telethon. He also gave his time to support the activities of the local UCP chapter in Los Angeles and the national organization.
In an agreement with DLT Entertainment Ltd. formed this past summer, Anchor Bay Entertainment will distribute subsequent seasons of the highly-popular television show, Three's Company, on DVD.
Three's Company originated from a British comedy series, Man About the House, and its concept as a television show was brought to the U.S. in the late '70s. The show was pitched to all networks but each one turned it down. Some time later, ABC contacted the creators and gave the green light for a pilot. Over one year and three pilots later, the first episode of Three's Company aired on March 15, 1977.
The cast was formed to include John Ritter as Jack Tripper, Joyce DeWitt as Janet Wood and Suzanne Somers as Chrissy Snow. John Ritter was cast in the first round of auditions but Joyce DeWitt and Suzanne Somers were not the original Janet and Chrissy. Disney CEO Michael Eisner, then an ABC programming executive, stepped in and suggested new girls cast in those roles. DeWitt got the role as Janet after the role was recast and Sommers got the role of Chrissy after two other actresses cast as Chrissy did not seem to embody the character. Eisner also played an instrumental role in inspiring the casting of Norman Fell and Audra Lindley as the nosy landlords, Mr. and Mrs. Roper. Three's Company became one of the highest-rated television series ever and continues to be a worldwide favorite.
Over the past year, the genre of television series on DVD has had an amazing sales growth. According to the DVD Release Report, it is projected that TV series-related DVD releases will have doubled by 2004 and is definitely one of the most popular and hottest categories in the DVD market. Three's Company has appeared consistently on various consumer wish lists of titles they want released on DVD.
Anchor Bay Entertainment has established itself as a haven for some of the world's greatest filmmakers and studios. Over the past few years, critics and producers as well as the media have praised the company for its quality releases. USA Today singled out ABE for its "consistent excellence" in DVD releases.
In addition to releasing extraordinary feature films, the company distributes one of the most popular children's video series, Thomas & Friends. The series has received numerous awards and endorsements, been awarded platinum-selling status and ranks consistently on the Top 50 chart of children's weekly video sales (VideoScan). Anchor Bay Entertainment is #1 in market share for fitness (VideoScan), with such chart-topping brands as the "Crunch" and "For Dummies" series.
Anchor Bay Entertainment is a division of North Coast Entertainment, a subsidiary of the Handleman Company. Anchor Bay Entertainment and Handleman Company can be accessed via the web by visiting www.anchorbayentertainment.com and www.handleman.com .

Well, season one is only six episodes. So it'll fit on one disc. For season two, which is twenty-five episodes, it'll probably take three or four discs.
Unwanted Angel 10-05-2003, 02:03 AM All of my dreams have come true and i am so ready for this, Nov. 11th can't get here fat enough for me! :D
swedeace 10-05-2003, 02:10 PM I have been recording TC episodes on N@N ever since TC was on since October 2000! There are indeed cut versions. Half of my recorded episodes are a total length of approximately 22 minutes. But it'll be nice to have the entire episodes, I hope it will be!
You can pre-order it at Amazon.com for $13.99 (great price for a show's entire season), and the shipping is free if you don't mind them shipping between 2 to 9 days after its release date. That's what I did, so I won't get mine until mid- to late-November. :)

Also, production on season two is underway. And guess who is helping? :)
You'll see my website's name in the credits section when season two comes out in early 2004.

No set date yet, but it should be in early 2004. Closer to the spring (possibly in March, since that is when the TC anniversary is).

I was waiting to see if anyone else noticed. You think they would have paid a little more attention to detail. Does this mean that when they get around to season six, Chrissy will still be on the cover??
swedeace 11-09-2003, 02:35 PM I don't know if anyone's noticed, but the DVD is already out at K-Mart for $14.99. I bought my DVD this morning, and I'm now watching the episode "It's Only Money." It's nearing the cut N@N version where the Dean says about the kids living the door open to trick the burglars! I can't wait!! I love this part in this episode.... :D
Impressions 11-09-2003, 03:54 PM I picked up my copy up at Fye yesterday; I was so anxious to buy it; I couldn't help but to watch the entire disk. I'm definitely planning to get the second season when it is released in Spring 2004 and I'm hoping that both of the first two seasons are successful so we can get the rest of the seasons will follow.

Sean Snow 11-12-2003, 06:50 PM I think I'm cursed in regards to the DVD...I got mine yesterday at Best Buy for $12.99, and when I got home "It's Only Money" wouldn't play because the disc was scratched.
I went back today and got a new disc...it's also scratched and won't play "It's Only Money".
Oh well, I guess I'll have to return this one also...I have to say I love seeing all the parts N@N cut out and the picture quality is great.

Actually, I think it's an accurate price considering you're getting no bonuses (deleted scenes, documentaries, commentaries) and only 6 episodes in mono sound.

I had the same problem. I watched every episode and was very pleased with the picture quality and not having the N@N logo on the screen. Then I started to watch "It's only Money" and the DVD wouldn't play past the opening credits:confused:

BTW, my favorite is Janet! ;)
