Maude didn't know anyone by the name of James. She did know henry and that he lived in Harlem.

He changed his name to James and moved to Chicago with Florida, JJ, Thelma and Michael.

Maude didn,t always have the upper hand of Walter.One thing Walter did famously,was when he asked Maude to sit down and listen to him,and Maude wouldn,t cooperate,he,d yell'MAUDE SIT'.And immediatly Maude sat.This little technique of his never failed.:D

I miss this show. My mom used to watch it when I was little. :(

I know what you mean.My parents used to watch Maude when I was little as well.One of my all time favourite shows.Unfortunately it seems to be one of those shows that are rarely seen in syndication.However,back in the fall of 1998,back to back episodes of Maude were seen on the WTN channel.I managed to record the show,s first three seasons on VHS.:cool:

I heard that Maude doesn't do well in syndication and that's the reason why a lot local stations and cable networks refused to pick the show up.

This was the central joke of Maude: that she was a bossy, domineering person who was in all actuality deeply insecure. This insecurity reared its head in the form of middle class/ white guilt most of the time, but it was also evident in her relationship with Walter. "Maude's Facelift" is a good example of her neurotic side.

Huh?! 1. No mention of Chicago locale for Florida in 'Maude'.
2. Florida's husband in 'Maude' was named Henry (not James. .nor Henry James) and he had steady work as a fireman near where they lived in Harlem.
3. While James (of 'Good Times') used and threatened corporal punishment against their children to an extent that would be consider abusive today, there never was the slightest hint James (or Henry) did anything more than verbally disagree with his wife- and even then, they argued as equals. He never even threatened to raise a hand to Florida- EVER!

James only yelled at J.J. He never really yelled at no other family member
