With consumer interest high for this release from fans who want to celebrate Ritter's great talent, Anchor Bay has decided to release Three's Company - Season 1 on Tuesday, November 11, 2003. It will be a 1-disc release with an SRP of $19.98, featuring the 6 episodes from the very short rookie year (note that the show was launched as a spring replacement):

A Man About The House
...And Mother Makes Four
Roper's Niece
No Children, No Pets
Jack the Giant Killer
It's Only Money

Presented in its original full-frame video and English Mono audio, it won't have any of the supplements that had been originally planned. Instead, these will be saved for a Season 2 multi-disc Special Edition DVD release that is tentatively planned for the first quarter of 2004.

Finally, for those of you asking about the unaired pilots for the show, each of which featured alternate actresses for the female leads: Anchor Bay regets that they do not currently have these pilots available to them for inclusion. Therefore these will not be on the upcoming DVD.

Still, we can assume that the door is always open to possibly get them on one of the future season sets; there are 8 seasons in total. And we here plan to enjoy each and every one of them! Our thanks to Alain Grenier and Bob Truong for their assistance with this news item.

Fantastic!

Thought I would have hoped for more on the first release... atleast it won't be as long a wait for the 2004 release of the 2nd season. Chiming in at just over $3 an episode is a bit steep... but that's not too bad... and maybe bestbuy or another company will have a deal on it :D

They could have gotten Joyce DeWitt and Suzanne Somers to collaborate on the special features with a tribute to John Ritter and a special segment on his death.. it's really sad.....

I thought they were going to release 2 versions of Season 1 - the bare bones one and then a special edition.

Oh well, at least I won't have to buy 2 sets of the same episodes and we get Season 2 a lot quicker.

How badly is Anchor Bay kicking themselves for not getting these dvds out earlier with commentary from John?

And how upsetting for the rest of us.

This is indeed cool news. I just wish it didn't have to be released at such a sad time. I'll be adding it to my Christmas list though.

I always have a feeling with DLT they will half azz everything! they should have put the 2 pilots as well..

How much do you think the other seasons will cost?? $40

Great, I was just at Amazon looking for "Three's Company" and didn't find a darn thing. So glad they are releasing it. Hopefully they will end up releasing on the seasons of this great classic sitcom.

This is great news. I wish there were extras, but eh, oh well. At least we'll be getting season 1 sooner (I was debating whether to wait for the 'special' edition, but I guess I won't have to debate that anymore since only the barebones one is coming out).

It would be hard to make all those extras in time for the advanced release date, so I can understand why they're waiting until Season 2 to put them on there. I don't think DLT should be faulted for there not being any extras. After all, I believe Anchor Bay is in charge of what it puts on it's DVDs.

I wish the pilots would be included, but then again maybe they'll eventually be released. I'm just glad all of season 1 is coming out in uncut form on the DVD format...and I'm glad season 2 (one of my favorites) seems to be on the way, also.

I think it's wonderful that they are releasing this dvd but it does get me to think they are making money off of his death. I know it's a terrible thing to say and I know they were planning on releasing it anyway, but it was just a thought. But it really is wonderful news thats its coming out and I'm so excited!! I love John.

This is GREAT news!
Wish there were special features though....

Ill be getting it the day it comes out.
Best Buy will probably have it on sale for like $16 or $17 or something around there.

Great price, for a great show!
