I never realized how odd the weather is on the Eastern slope of Colorado. It was around 80 degrees yesterday morning when I went to class, and then when I came back to my dorm around 5, it was 40 degrees. I woke up this morning, and it was still just as cold....but now it's close to 70. This weather fluctation is not setting in with me. I'm used to warm 60 degree weather until mid-November. Has anyone else been getting weird weather lately?

No, it's just the boring average 60-80 degree range. I'm sick of it being so warm because of all the new clothes I have are for colder weather and I wanna wear them lol. Yeah, I know, I'm pathetic...

Basically, you just described Western Iowa, Chris. It's so unpredictable.

Yesterday was windy and warm. I had the air on in my car and wanted to turn it on in the house. Today, rain moved in and it's like 45. I had the heat on in my car! But it's always this weird in Iowa.

Yep, that's how it always is here along the Front Range. I love it. As the saying goes... "If you don't like the weather in Colorado, wait 5 minutes." (Although not that unique of a saying, as I've heard it used for numerous other locations. Perhaps Iowa?? ;) )

I learned the hard way to never leave home without a coat, hat and gloves, no matter what the weather is like in the morning. I'll never forget riding my bike to class one beautiful day and ending up trudging home in the falling snow, pushing my bike, ears and fingers freezing. Yeah, you learn pretty quickly that way. :D

Oh and Original Prankster, as you're adjusting to the weather variations, don't let an early snow catch you off guard. The first snowfall along the Front Range can pretty much occur anytime between now and Nov. (Not sure if it's like that on the Western Slope but the mountains have already gotten snow - woo hoo, skiing is just around the corner. And now I am rambling.) Anyway... It's not at all unusual for it to snow in Sept. I remember my freshman year of college it snowed around this time and so many people from out of state were completely unprepared and thought it was so strange to see snow this early, when it is perfectly normal here. I'll never forget this one girl from California who had no winter coat and we asked her what she expected the weather to be like in Colorado and she said "I knew it would be cold but I was going to have my mom mail me my coat next month, I thought I had plenty of time" :lol:

Congratulations, Chris, you have just described North Dakota in September. :)

Two days ago, it was 40 degrees and freezing and the entire state was in a frost advisory. Yesterday, it was 70 and windy. :rolleyes:

Wow, that early. Our first snowfall here happens around oh...maybe February. We get warm, summer weather until mid-November, then horribly cold weather starting around mid-December. But it never snows until February or March...and when it does, it's like 1 to 2 inches. Then it all melts by noon leaving us with 40 - 50 degree weather the rest of the day...not very exciting. I'm looking forward to the snow though, lol. I lived in Chicago for 15 1/2 years, so snow was always with us in the winter months.

By the way, which college or university did you attend? I'm at CU. Go Buffs. :D ;)

Hopefully that early. (Can you tell I love the snow?) But I would say that in an average year the first snowfall is in Oct. (and occasionally as late as Nov. -yuck!) I think it would be unheard of for it to not snow until Feb. I guarantee we will have snow before then. And hopefully we will have more snow this winter than we did last year. 'Cause last year we really didn't get alot of snow until March when it dumped on us.

BUT... I'm getting my graduate degree at CU so "Go Buffs", too! :lol: ;)

It's starting to get a little chillier here. Won't be long before I have to get the Long Johns out.

I can't wait until it's cold. I love having the heat on in my apartment, I love when it's cold outside (I hate driving in the snow though), I LOVE to have it cold because I crochet and can make blankets :):)
