Somone had just brought up a good point. PLANNED SPINOFFS. And it seemed to make a lot of sense. It was planned to be a spinoff but just didn't turn out that way.

Until someone gives me an intelligent answer as to why the Evans moved to a Chicago Ghetto after already living in a New York City Ghetto (Harlem), then Good Times will never be a spinoff.

Think what you want. But you need a brain transplant if you can't see it is a spinoff. Guess you never watch the E! channel where they do biographies of tv show and the characters and cast members if you had you would have seen where it said that is was a spin off. Now take yourself and find something new to do we are tired of hear you repeat yourself over and over.

If you are living in Harlem, why relocate to a different state to living in a different Ghetto?-LOL But remember Henry/James got a PROMOTION and Florida no longer had to work for Maude but they were living in the projects in the state of Chicago?????

I've said this before, it's a FRACTURED spinoff. Not everything fits, but the fact is the character of Florida Evans was still spunoff.

Geography lesson for the day:

Chicago is a city, not a state. The state in which Chicago is located is Illinois.

Admittedly, that is confusing, considering that Harlem is a neighborhood in a city whose name matches its state: New York, New York. Many people say "New York City, New York", or just plain "New York City" (I don't believe there is another New York City in the world!) if they want to be extra specific.

I know Chicago is not a state. I said the Evans relocated to a different state-WHICH WAS ILLINOIS to live in a different GHETTO, which was a Chicago Neighborhood.

Good Times is a spinoff. Always has been, always will be. You have yet to provide solid proof that it is not. There are hundreds of articles stating that fact to back me up. Where are yours?

Brian Damage

Secondly, Good Times was NOT a planned spinoff. It was an idea for a show to stand seperately from the All in the Family universe. However, Norman Lear wanted a vehicle to spinoff the Florida Evans character and combined the two ideas to come up with Good Times.

Wasn’t there supposed to be a GT episode that had Maude coming to stay with Florida and the family to see how ghetto life is? That would have solidified it.
