I wanted everyone to remember us as we deal with the hurricane. I know Cheryl and I will be in the path of this storm, so we might not be around if our power goes off. I don't have school tomorrow and I know things are pretty bad down by her as I type this. We are waiting for our shot at this storm. I know it is great that we have a Freddie family here that will join us in our concerns. Those of you who pray, we could use them!

...Lucky and Cheryl--do take care! I would also like to request prayers for another person in the storm's path who is dear to my heart. Just ask God to watch over the OTHER dark angel (besides Freddie) that he has sent to watch over Mariposa! Thanx mucho!

We survived Isabel. My folks lost power after 5 & later theri phone kept ringing busy so I suspected it was down. So I called the phone co to report it & sho nuff it was.. We lost power at 7:25 after dinner. But our phone is still working. I can get online with a laptop. To hear the tv news we had to listen with Mike using a walkman & me with a pen radio. I don't know who was the crazierst during the storm, the dog who kept waliking out side like it was nothing (I had to ask her to gon on & get in her house), the telemarketer who called during the storm & Mike said to her "Hey lady, we can't talk to ya right now cuz we have a hurricane going on. Bye", or Mike who threw the dessert in the sink by accident. I had made a diabetic lemon pudding & had heated it up in the microwave. Found it in the sink with water & dish detergent in it (pre-electrtric going out). He found it in the microwave & thiought it was a dirty dish & put it in to soak. I was so upset but the storm calmed that down real quick heh-heh. The guy at the phone co said I was a good duaghter to have my folks phone checked so I could make sure they were okay in the hurricane. Mike brother Bill & his wifes phone was out too cuz Mike tried to call them & busy signal too. Same for his cousin Sheila & her hubby Bill who live in Rivers Edge. My mom was able to call me on her cell phone. Usually she can't get out from her house so she was lucky to be able to get out on it. I couldn't heaer her very well as she was so garbled but it appears they are okay but some trees are down there. They probably won't know till Fri how bad it is. She talked like they won't be able to get out yet. But my folks seem to be okay & we are too. Hope you all are okay. We prayed & rode it out. We'll see on any damage tomorrow but none so far...

Hope you all in the storm are fine & didn't get too much damage... Best wishes & prayers to Luckymama & mariposa's friend...

...she and her family are fine. Their electricity is on but she has no internet, apparently cuz her provider is in an area where the electric IS out.

My dark angel in Roanoke just e-mailed me...he is OK too. Thanx mucho to everyone who prayed, cuz unfortunately he doesn't--has too much faith in HIMSELF LOL!

Great story of your experience, Cheryl! Especially the part about the telemarketer LOL! Good for your hubby!

Anyone else out there in the path of the storm? How are you doing?

Well after all the hype in our area, the storm really wasn't that bad. All that happened, as Mariposa said, was I lost my local provider for a while, but by noon, I was back on line. It might have blown hard in the middle of the night, I dunno, I was asleep, but by morning we had only had a couple of inches of rain and only leaves and twigs were on the lawn.
I guess in a way I was a little disappointed, since we had gone to a lot of trouble to prepare, but on the other hand, I am glad our prayers were answered and it wasn't that bad. Seems a shame that school was called off for nothing, but I, for one, am not complaining. I got to sleep in and just generally relax for a day. I needed it!
Glad to hear that Cheryl is ok and my prayers do go out to those where the storm hit along the shore whom I know are having a time of it cleaning up from the damage. Not everyone was as fortunate as I was. :(

I am so glad to hear that everything went ok. I know that those storms are very scary and God only knows the out come of what will happen when the storm is over. My husband and I spent our Honeymoon in Cocoa Beach Florida and we ended up having a tropical depression when we were there. Talk about all that rain and wind! Incredible.. we spent the night at my parents house about 50 miles away then came back to rechristen the reason why we were there!;)

Electricty is out so I am online at a local Radio Shack. Power out in most ares except for some area of Petersburg. Batteries are dead on the laptop so I dunno when I can get back on here next. Thank God for Radio Shack. My folks are okay & their hosue but tress went their their seperate detached garage for my dad's stuff & trees went thru their gazebo but at least them & their house are okay. No electricity but we have phones still. My folks phones are out. No damage at our house, only a few tree libs in the yard. We heard the strom winds go Whooo by the house & a large boom noise. When the electricty went out I saw a n orage ball. See ya later!

Thanks for the support. :) Our phones are still out so I am here at the library again LOL! When we were at my folks house last nite they got their electricity back. When it came back on, my mom went YAY & I went Woo-hoo! My dad (he's in his 80's so that makes this funny LOL) said Aw shut up. All the neighbors started call her to tell her their elctricity was up & was hers too. One poor neighbor was still running a generator fearing he'd lost the power again. Things were rough for some of the neighbors. 9 trees feel on one neighbors house & another neighbor lost his job after the hurricane was over with. So they could surely use some vibes. My folks now have all those trees to clean up from their yard. Their condo down at Nags Head Beach will have to have some repairs done due to water damage-- new carpets put in etc. So I am luckier than most. No damage to the house & no phone is such an aggravation...
