I know ABC plans to continue with the show. My understanding is that John Ritter's character will also pass away in the show.

It's always hard when a cast member dies, particularly one of the protagonists. I think the writers of Barney Miller handled Jack Soo's death in a very classy, simple way, and without having to rewrite the whole show to explain it. The tribute was touching, classy and it brought closure to his character allowing cast members and viewers alike to continue on.

Even though "8 Rules" has been on for only a season, I'm sure cast members have enough memories to fill up an episode.

What do you think?

Barney Miller's tribute episode to Jack Soo was very classy. His character was one of my favorites. John Ritter was in most of the scenes of 8 Simple Rules so they will have to address it more and in more episodes. I wish them luck.
