View Full Version : Favorite McDonald's commercial
musicradio77 09-16-2003, 09:53 PM Here's a good commercial from McDonald's to start with. The first one I might think of is the McDonaldland Sports Mugs. (http://dt.prohosting.com/70s/adulttv/mcdmugs.au) It's going to be a real collector's item and it is extremely hard to find at flea markets and on Ebay. Good luck!
dandelion wine 09-16-2003, 11:16 PM One of my favorites is the one where they say, "Two all beef patties, special sauce.. etc." I tried to see if I could say it really fast like they did.
I also remember a commercial from the early 80s that had Michael J. Fox, least I think he was in one. And from the mid-80s, Jason Alexander told us about how "the hot stuff stays on the hot side, and the cold stuff stays on the cold side!" when they were selling their McBLT's. That's a good one.

If I remember correctly, yes. I believe he was working the counter. ;)
musicradio77 09-17-2003, 09:19 PM Here's another McDonald's commercial that you like the most. This is from 1985. You've seen these commercials so many times. It's the Big Mac Man! (http://www.80stvthemes.com/ra/MACMAN.ra)

With him working there, so would I!
I always liked that one they used to show around Christmas time in the '80's where the little kids are ice skating with Ronald McDonald and the littlest boy gets left behind and he's all sad, but then Ronald comes back to get him at the end. Aww. It was so cute. Cheesy but cute.

That commercial is annoying.
Bugiddle 09-18-2003, 03:21 AM One I always liked (but I bet no one here remembers because it aired way back in '75 or '76) is the one about the little girls' camp where a bunch of girls (about ages 6-8) are gloomy because it's raining and they can't go out of their cabins. Then their leader decides they'll weather the storm and march up to McDonalds. They had a cute little chant, something like "If it rains all day, your'e still in luck, just flap your arms and pretend your'e a duck - quack-quack-waddle- waddle", etc. Yes, it was silly, but sort of cute at the same time. Don't know why that particular one sticks in my head so much.
Brian Damage 09-18-2003, 10:59 AM What ever happened to those characters like Big Mac man or Mayor McCheese? Or how about the Fry Guys?

I don't remember that - but I do have Christine Taylor's (yep, Mrs. Ben Stiller) first commercial for Burger King on tape - YEARS before anyone knew who she was :D
musicradio77 09-18-2003, 09:13 PM Here are two of my favorite McDonald's commercials. One is the menu song. (http://www.80stvthemes.com/ra/121999/MCMENU.ra) I remember that song got really stuck in my head many times. I remember the instant cash flexidisc record that if you could guess the right song from the menu correct, you would win a million dollars. And in the end, no one could win. That's a dumb decision to win with nothing. It's gonna be a collector's item. It was from 1988. Another favorite of mine was a Christmas McDonald's (http://www.80stvthemes.com/ra/MCXMAS.ra) commercial from 1984. Featuring Ronald McDonald on an ice skating rink featuring characters from Disney's "Bambi". At the end, it says "Happy Holidays". That was one of my good commercials from McDonald's from almost 20 years ago.
