Angie bumped L&S to Thursdays where L&S sank in ratings -
never to reclaim it's former glory--especially after the Burbank locale change in 1980.

Then after a season and half ANGIE dissapeared.
did Donna Pescow decide to quit?
why would ABC cancel it -- it had been in top 5 in 1979 !!

anybody know the scoop...?

It's not stated anywhere why it was cancelled but i was able to find out that Angie was not in the top 30 after the 1979-80 season. That can have a little to do about why it was cancelled. I wonder why it went from number 5 to below 30 in just one season.

"Angie's" ratings were actually better in the spring of 1979, when it followed "Mork and Mindy" on Thursday nights. In the fall of 1979, ABC moved several of their shows around. "Laverne and Shirley" moved to Thursday. "Mork and Mindy" moved to Sunday. "Fantasy Island" moved to Friday. And "Angie" moved to Tuesday. When the ratings were disasterous, ABC tried to move everything back. However, "Benson" was in "Angie's" old Thursday time slot and was getting good ratings. So "Angie" had to move to Friday and ended up with low ratings and was cancelled.

I didn't see anything about a Friday Timeslot. At the beginning of 1980, the show was moved to Monday night at 8:30pm, and after a month that slot didn't work and it was moved to Saturday night at 8pm and then back to Thursday in July of 1980 and that was it. Canceled in October of 1980.

They also did quite a bit of plot changes throughout the series' somewhat short life. First, Angie was a waitress at a Philadelphia cofee shop. She meets her eventual pediatrician-husband, Brad there (he's a regular customer) then they elope when conflicts arise regarding their wedding plans. They move into a huge Philadelphia mansion. Soon thereafter, Brad purchases the coffee shop and Angie becomes the manager/owner. Not long after that, Angie puts the huge mansion on the market and they move into a cozier, yet still opulent home (where Brad moves his practice to a downstairs office). Not long after that, Angie no longer owns the coffee shop, but runs a local hair salon. I guess people got dizzy from all those changes within less than 40 episodes, yet it still was a good show.
