One of my friends over at the Lisa Marie Presley board is thinking about taking her life. What should I do?

I really don't know what to do in a situation like that. The first thing that comes to mind is to tell her/him that there is NO going back. NO second chance. Or if she doesn't succeed she could do permanent damage ,mentally/physically. She needs to talk to a professional so if she goes through with it please don't blame yourself. All I can suggest is to point her toward a suicide hotline or to call a clergyman or counselor that she trusts.

Tell her that suicide is not the answer. Also tell her how much people care about her and want her to be around for a long, long time.

Sorry I didn't see this post earlier - I sincerely hope the crisis is already over. Anyone who is considering that seriously needs to find professional help. Suicide is certainly no answer - and will completely destroy the family and loved ones. My roommate had a friend in highschool that commited suicide. She said that when she went to the funeral, the guy's mom was shocked that he had had ANY friends - so this girl just really needs to know that she's not alone - and to think of all the people she'd be hurting.

Please tell me she's okay. :)

About six months ago on the rockyhorror newsgroup I visit, a girl posted that at midnight that night she was going to commit suicide. All of us at the board posted to try persuade her not to, but she posted saying she was on her way to do it, and we continues posting, spending hours searching all over the net to find out any contact addresses for friends etc to find out if anything happened. When it turned out she was still alive people critiscised her, I'm not really sure what to believe-she said she took 47 sleeping pills but it didn't work and tried cutting her wrist, and apparently she'd going to like a rehab facility. She claimed the pills didn't work cos the way she diluted them, I personally don't know what to believe, when it all happened some heartwarming messages were posted, she says she was going to leave a flower at her pal's door and someone said, 'I pray instead of leaving the flower at the door, you go inside and talk to your friend,'.
The thing is, suicide affects EVERYONE around you, I hope the girl on the Lisa Marie board hasn't done anything like that.

UP-DATE: I talked to my friend on the Lisa board, and she said she isn't going to do it because I said think about your mom and me (I'm her ex-boyfriend. :D) and I told her mom. Her mom is taking her to councling. And it seems to be doing the trick. Thanks to all of you who replied (and if you did) pray. I told her all about you. ;)
