On GDL, they said that they will most likely go on without him airing his 3 episodes and then leading to his death on the show and try to go on.

Wow, thanks for posting that. Did they say whether or not they would bring in another character, like an uncle or something?

They're still not sure though because 8SR is the most popular scripted ABC show right after NYPD Blue, and since its such a hit they dont wanna screw it up. I think it would be good to go on without him- he'd want it that way- but it wouldnt last for long IMO.

It is going to be very hard to do. When MJF left Spin City I tried to watch it with Charlie Sheen but it just wasn't the same show so I stopped watching. I know its not the same thing. I'll probably give the revamped show a chance but if it doesn't feel right I'll probably stop watching. I hope it does because I'd like to see it have enough episodes for syndication so future generations could see John's last role. If it doesn't suceed it will be a lost classic.

Perhaps henry Winkler will be added, to play an uncle or something.

Just a guess, not backed up by anything, but i would think with everyone trying to capitalize on the huge popularity of sitcom classics, they would go for someone like that. Anyone else have any guesses? when i think 70's, i think jack tripper and the fonz first and foremost <G> I guess they were big favs to me back then.

Henry Winkler would be a great addition to 8 Simple Rules. I also think the 70's were all about Jack Tripper and The Fonz.

Thanks for that news.
Now, I can't tell anyone what John would have wanted, but I can guess that he would want this show to go on. If they get an actor who is as loved an known as Mr. Ritter, to play the uncle or sometinhg, and to come and help Paul's wife take care of the kids, than the show might just keep going...

Henry would be awesome. Man, Id def. watch. Also, I think he'd be good on the show because of how close he was to John.
