Hello, all.

I need a bit of help concerning my avatar. I've noticed that a lot of you have your own pictures that you've downloaded, and I have NO IDEA how to do it. I think DianeChambers87 told me how, but I'm not exactly getting it! :bonk:

I just found this awesome picture of Maddie and David on this Moonlighting site, and I'd love to use it, but I'm clueless. If anybody can help, I'd really appreciate it. Be detailed, though...it's late, and my brain's on the fritz! ;)

Download a photo editing program like Paint Shop Pro at http://www.download.com - or you can email me the photo and I will reduce it for you and send it back... or just post the link to the photo here and I will upload it to this post.

I was going to download Paint Shop Pro, but I wasn't sure how long the trial was or whatever. So, I decided to take the third option and post the link here. Once again, I'm clueless! :doh: I apologize for troubling you, but could you explain how to post the link? I'd be happy to do it if I knew how!

I'm just sorta pushing this one back up, because I'm finding some great pictures, and I don't know how to use them! :( I'd really appreciate a little assistance. TJ told me that I should type the address or something here, but I don't exactly know what that should be. HELP!!! :crazy:

Let me see if I can explain w/o confusing everybody all the way around. K, find the pic you want on a website. Right click on your mouse, and go to properities. You'll see an address listed there. I'm sending a pic your way, sorry for the size. I tried shrinking it up, but couldn't do much with it, w/o the text focking up. You really need to see the text. Okay, back on topic. Copy that address and paste it in here. Put this code in front and behind the link.......no spaces.

One more way to get the link is get the address at the top--in the address bar. But don't do the IMG thing with that link. Just copy and paste that link in here. Let me print screen so you know what I'm talking about. Like here would be the link to my pic I posted above.

I could've just cut that address bar out of this pic, but I thought it'd be best to save the whole thing, just so you can see the location. Wouldn't be able to see it if I just posted the bar. It's circled.

K, glad you like it. And if you want to change it, just bump this post back up and I check on this board, so I'll see it.

Okay, to put in that avatar. Save it to your computer, make sure it saves as a jpg or jpeg file. And then go to User Cp at the top of the screen. Go to Edit Options. Scroll down til you get to the avatar section. You'll see a window for you to put the file name in. Click browse and find your file. Click on the file and it'll go in the window. Click submit modifications and that's it. Two pics follow this post.

And if it saves on your computer as a bmp file and you can't it to go as a jpg/jpeg file, just post again in here and I'll post my email address or I'll turn on my pm function. You can pm me your password and I can put it in for you. I've done that before with other people, but I understand if you're not cool with giving out passwords. But whenever I've done that, I just go and slip in the pic as the avatar. I would not trash the site under your user name.

Okay...I feel so incredibly stupid! :doh: I just saved the picture to my computer, and I put it under the "upload" spot on my User CP, but it said it wasn't a valid JPG file. How exactly do I save it to that? I'm SO close, I can taste it!!!

Don't feel stupid. It must've saved on your computer as a bmp file. If you want to do the password deal and let me put the pic in for you, since it shows up jpg for me......email me. My email addy is jennybuffyfan@yahoo.com

Hey, that's cool. Um, let me see. Let me think for a minute. I have a friend I make avatars for. I ship them to her through email and she loads the pic on here through her email. That's the only way she can keep the pic in a jpg format. We can try that, I suppose. If that doesn't work, then I'm totally out of ideas. I can talk to TJ though. Maybe he can think of a way to get the pic in there.
