Chico's garage. I just thought since Sammy appear as himself, it would have been a better explanation as to why he was in that area of LA. I just think Sammy was written into the episode for a ratings boost at the time.

I think I read that somewhere once. They talked like his car was acting up but still never explained why a big rich star like him would be in a poor barrio to begin with...

Well, I may be wrong because it has been a while since I watched that particular show, but seems to me Sammy was trying to explain when Chico was pinching himself on his arm and shoulder. If I'm remembering right he said he was on his way some where and the car was acting up and someone told him that Ed Brown's garage was the closest garage to take it to. If I'm wrong, I'm sorry, but for some reason, that seems like what I remember.

That was the excuse, Dani, but IMHO it was a lame one. I liked Sammy, but the episode's plot was a bit contrived and showed Freddie's talent in a bad light, that is why it isn't one of my favorites. :(

Why did that Sammy episode show Freddie's talent in a bad light?

Freddie had a wonderful singing voice, as evidenced on other episodes earlier in the season and on the Tony Orlando and Dawn show. He also was a talented guitar and drum player. The way the writers portrayed Chico for that episode made people think he had no talent. I know he was only playing a character, but it would have been nice to allow Freddie to showcase some of his other talents, not just his comedic timing. (BTW he was a trained dancer as well. We lost a great all round entertainer who never got a chance to really show the world all he could do)
I'm with you there Lucky it's certainly not my fave either

I agree with Luckymama also. It wasn't my favorite episode. I would of loved to hear Freddie sing in his natural wonderful voice when he sang!
