SEPT. 12 | Anchor Bay Entertainment has altered its plans for the release of Three's Company on DVD following the sudden death of John Ritter. The actor died Thursday at age 54.
Ritter died of a heart problem after collapsing on the set of his ABC series 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter. He was scheduled to begin working with Anchor Bay next month on extras for the Three's Company DVD, which was scheduled for release early next year.
"Anchor Bay Entertainment is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of actor John Ritter," said Anchor Bay president David Vasile.
Vasile said the company is discussing a quick release of a standard edition followed by a special commemorative edition early next year.
Ritter won an Emmy and Golden Globe award for his portrayal of Jack Tripper in the ABC comedy that ran from 1977-84.
